Yukieiros the Wolf wasn't having that good a day so far and it wasn't even noon yet. For a cryokinetic wolf a warm day could be annoying at the best of times, but somehow he'd gotten lost on the path and had no clue where he was going.
"This sucks... How do I find my way back?" He sighed.
He tried to get bearings from the sun, trying to figure out which direction to go, until he realised that without any landmark to know where he was relevant to his destination it didn't matter what way the sun indicated the directions were.
"Gha... I can't think with my brain overheating..." He grumbled, looking for somewhere with some shade to lie in.
Eventually he found a small group of trees clumped around some strange looking pink flowers, but more importantly, the leaves cast a nice, cool, shadow into their centre.
He entered, breathing a sigh of relief at the cooled air in the shade, then sniffing.
"Huh, these plants smell really weird..."
Picking one up, he noticed that the plants had light red petals that seemed to be giving off a pink dust, the likely source of the smell.
"Pollen or something? Hope it doesn't stain my fur..."
He cautiously wiped the plant and its dust on his blue furred tail, noting that the pink dust seemed to just brush off. Satisfied be wouldn't be left pink by lying in the shade here, he sat down.
'It's cool here at least. I can relax a little instead of having my head feel like it's on fire....' He thought.
Feeling relaxed as he cooled, Yuki found his eyes growing heavy, and a yawn made him feel momentarily alert.
"Wow, don't want to get that relaxed... Just trying to cool off, not take a nap..." He admonished himself aloud.
Moments later he was leaning back, lost to the world as his eyes closed and didn't reopen.
Yuki opened his eyes, feeling like he had just shut them.... and noted the sun had moved position almost right away. It was now afternoon...
"Gha! I must have fell asleep..." He cursed aloud, shooting up to his feet, and noting also he had rolled in his slumber.
Now he saw that his blue fur was tinted with the pink dust all over, and groaned. He'd been rolling around quite a lot and in the process had crushed quite a few of the plants. It seemed they had quite a lot of sticky sap in them as clumps of pink goo were stuck into his fur.
'Oh well. I guess it can brush out still.' He thought, sweeping his hand across the dust and gooey splodges.
A few minutes later, some of the dust was gone, but the goo was simply being spread about instead of removed. Yuki was starting to feel a little frantic.
'What if it's stained?! I need to go find some water or something to wash it out maybe... It's not brushing off.'
A few more moments of brushing and fearing an embarrassing stain, Yuki was relieved to see the pink colour fading somewhat, and breathed a sigh of relief.
'Thank goodness for that... l'd look so stupid with pink fur...'
Now relieved he wasn't going to have pink spots, Yuki was making his way out of the small clump of trees
Suddenly, Yuki was hit by a dizzy spell, almost falling from his feet as the world span around him.
"Whoa... Ow... That... Ow..." He mumbled as his head began to hurt a little from the strange feeling.
Staggering into a tree, he slid down it, head still spinning as he landed in a sitting position, and felt his stomach twist and churn as his whole body started to feel strange. It was a prickling sensation, pins and needles everywhere at once, and itchy. Warm and cold at the same time, especially around the legs and chest.
His head cleared a little and he saw with panic that his chest seemed to be swelling up. He gasped, trying to stand up, but his whole body was too weak and all he could do was twitch and stare at the swelling.
'Poisonous... Were they poisonous? Why is my chest swelling up so much...' He thought in confused fear.
He felt tired all over, and nothing moved when he tried to. His heart was racing, and his breathing was frantic, but effectively paralysed and fearing he was poisoned, Yuki was getting more and more frantic, until something occurred to him.
The swelling was happening at two spots... That wasn't possible, was it? No, it was just a trick of the light. His whole chest was swelling.
Slowly, he felt things calm down. Energy seemed to be leaking back into his body, and he found he was able to move a little. He tried to reach his hand to the swollen spots, seeking to check what was happening. The area felt sensitive and...
There definitely were two areas of swelling. Like... Like he'd grown breasts. But that was crazy. He was a guy and...
...Now he looked at himself he seemed a little thinner. But with wider hips. And his fur seemed to be... softer? Finer? Something wasn't right here at all. And if he did have... those things on his chest then...
Nervously, his hand moved down to check between his legs. He felt around for a moment but couldn't find anything and clocked that up to the lingering fatigue from the poisoning, but then his fingers found something.
She bolted to her feet and shrieked in horror.
"I'm a girl!" She exclaimed, looking herself over, the tiredness gone with the burst of adrenaline.
Her fur was indeed far finer, and her whole frame was a little thinner and less muscular. Her chest had swollen for obvious reasons, and the loss of the other part was less than pleasant to the male-minded female, who was back into the hyperventilation and racing heartbeat.
"I can't be a girl! I'm a guy! I'm not supposed to be a girl! This isn't possible!" Yuki protested, hearing her voice being that much higher now she was changed.
Even as freaked out as she was, she was still able to wonder idly if perhaps she should change her name. She wasn't Yuki anymore....
'Maybe... I should call myself Yuna now I'm a girl...'
However, another part of her realised this was just the strange pink dust still affecting him.
'Wait... Why would I change my name? That dust must be making me think differently! I'm going to think I'm really a girl if I don't fight it!' She panicked.
In that growing panic, she failed to notice she was losing control of her power somewhat. The pink-dust plants turned slightly crystalline and blue as the air chilled, and then the plants were soon frozen solid. Yuki/Yuna let her power run rampant in her panic, only realising the problem when it was a little too late and she had lost control totally.
"Crap..." She managed to say, glancing down and seeing that even though it was her own power, she had frozen herself to below her... well, chest.
An icy layer coated her thinner frame and finer fur now. She did not feel the cold, but she also could not feel herself stopping her power as the ice spread and spread. Trying to smash the ice simply saw it eat her fist, resulting in her arm being stuck as more and more of her out of control ice spread outwards.
"Stupid ice! Stop freezing me! How the hell can you be doing that?! You're supposed to be in my control! " She protested at the ice, which naturally didn't listen as it kept spreading.
A few moments later, an annoyed and trans-gendered wolf stood inside a casing of ice that would not break or respond to her.
'Stupid ice! Thaw! Break! Let me go! I need to figure out why I'm like this! Well, I know why I'm frozen, because THIS STUPID ICE stopped obeying me but I want to find out why I'm a girl and get back to being a guy!'
As the encased she-wolf cursed and grew more and more annoyed, she would have been surprised to note her powers were now more linked to her emotions... The angrier she got, the thicker the ice spreading out from her feet grew.
She would eventually calm down... But after night would fall and the ice was refusing to respond, she would fall asleep in the ice. And in the morning, annoyed, the ice would escape her control again and what little melting progress had been made would be undone.
She would figure it out eventually, of course. But for now, the ice-controlling male-turned-female would be there in her ice cube for quite a little while before she could try and find out what exactly had caused the rather unwelcome change... Maybe long enough to forget there even was a change while she was distracted by the ice.
