Tai and Agumon rushed to where Mimi had said to meet them, and as they neared, they saw that she and Palmon both looked impatient. The two stood at the top of a small hill, Mimi pacing around in frustration while Palmon lounged back in the sun.
"What took you guys so long? And where's everyone else?" Mimi challenged. Tai sighed.
"Mimi, first, we came as fast as we could, and everyone else is on their way as soon as they can get here. All the younger Digidestined are watching TK in a basketball game, Matt and Sora are there, Izzy is doing I don't know what, and Joe's busy with homework. "
"Well... I guess I can show you the problem at least. Look over here."
The two newcomers looked.
"A village? What's so strange? You said it was something weird?" Agumon asked.
Tai,however, noticed it.
"Everything down there is... brown."
"Exactly. Any idea what that could be? And before Palmon tries again or you think like her, no, it's not the Digital World trying to be like a first person shooter game and make everything brown." Mimi noted.
"Um... Wood? No, wrong colour... Wait. Chocolate? The whole village is... Chocolate?"
Mimi nodded.
"That's what I think, but we're not getting any closer alone. When we saw it, not everything was chocolate, but by the time we looked again and sent you the message, well... Chocolate."
"Well, I guess we should go take a look?" Agumon ventured.
"Sure. That's what we were waiting on you two for." Palmon responded as she hopped to her feet.
The four entered the chocolate village, and it was... strange. Not a soul in sight, but everything was chocolate. Walls, light poles, sign posts, the insides of houses.... Yet, not one sign of any Digimon.
"Okay, this is just spooky now..." Mimi shuddered as they passed more and more empty buildings.
Something promptly screamed, causing Human and Digimon alike to jump.
"Now it's spooky..." Tai noted.
Quickly but quietly, they followed the sound of another scream, and heard a voice. They soon found where it came from. A BlackGatomon was crawling away from a strange-looking bird Digimon. Beside the BlackGatomon, two piles of chocolate, melting and merging with the ground.
"What is that?" Mimi whispered.
"It looks like a Cockatrimon... made of Chocolate." Agumon replied.
"Solves where all the chocolate came from... Oh, man. Those melting blobs... I think I see what happened to the Digimon..." Tai said, shuddering a little.
"I'm glad I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, this would put me off it for life..." Mimi muttered.
"Quiet. The Chocotrimon's doing something!" Palmon hissed.
"...Chocotrimon?" Mimi groaned, but was shushed by the others
She fell silent, and the four could hear the black cat digimon before the brown chocolate bird pleading.
"Please! Don't melt me down and absorb me! I can... I can serve you! I can try and lure other 'mon here..."
The 'Chocotrimon' however, laughed.
"I don't want more 'Mon. I've turned this village into enough chocolate to trap anything, and I have no need for slaves... What I want, is humans..."
The begging BlackGatomon then pointed straight at the four observers.
"There's two! Right there! Huma...Aaaah!" He tried, and then for his troubles, was hit by beams of golden light from the eyes of the 'Chocotrimon'.
His black fur turned brown, as he froze in place. Almost immediately, after his whole body was chocolate, he began to melt into a shapeless blob, being absorbed by the ground.
However, the four watching didn't notice this, for the 'Chocotrimon' had turned his gaze on them.
"... Humans!" He cackled, and on cue, Agumon and Palmon both digivolved.
"Oh, a Greymon and a Lillymon... How boring."
The pair of evolved Digimon dodged the purple beams that were fired.
"Guys! Run for it, we can go for the others!" Lillymon advised.
"Yeah, this guy seems... Aagh!" Greymon tried to suggest, but was interrupted by being hit.
"Greymon!" Tai cried, but Mimi held him from running.
"I don't think we can do anything, Tai, we have to go!"
Relucantly, Tai ran with Mimi, as Lillymon flew behind them. The 'Chocotrimon' cackled, and took aim with his eye beams. Lillymon managed to gasp a warning, and landed behind the humans.
"Watch out! He's aiming at you!" She cried, blocking his shot, and taking it instead. Mimi shrieked, seeing her partner hit.... and instantly become chocolate that started to melt.
'Chocotrimon' wasn't quite done yet. He spat two blobs of chocolate forth, and Tai saw one heading for Mimi, and one for him. He dived, trying to ensure he dodged his and got Mimi out of the way.
"Ow! Tai, what the..." She protested as she hit the chocolate pavement, and then gasped.
The blob had hit Tai's foot and was spreading.
"Damn it, it got me!" He said, trying to pull it off, only for it to spread up his hands.
Mimi tried to put her hands under his shoulders to drag him, only for Tai to shake her off.
"Mimi, go! If it went on my hands what'll it do when it reaches my shoulders?"
"It'll do this!" Chocotrimon cackled, landing behind them and blocking Mimi's escape even before she had tried to argue about leaving Tai behind.
"...Um... You said you wanted humans, but, won't one be enough? Let her go?" Tai tried, now covered in chocolate to his waist and elbows.
The Digimon responded with opening his mouth, and spitting out another blob, which landed on Mimi's feet.
"...It was nice of you to try, Tai." Mimi said in defeat...
