The BaguBagu, insect-like creatures with the ability to transform organic matter to stone, had done just that to much of Lacroa, and then had come close to doing the very same to Neotopia. Captain Gundam had channelled the essences Feather Dragon and Dai Shogun to reverse this effect and save Neotopia. This process changed the BaguBagu from green with fly-like wings, to white with feathered wings.

Except, what if the process had also scattered the creatures through time and space after their effects were reversed? Hundreds of thousands of the BaguBagu would be sent to many places. Most of them would emerge in harmless locations, unlikely to ever pose a problem to anyone or anything.

Some of them, however, would emerge in places where they most certainly would...

Where they emerged, there was not much of a fanfare. Barely even a pop, not even a flash of light, and one or more BaguBagu would pop into that place. Little warning for anything in the area. Fortunately, if one did convert something organic to stone, as a side effect of the accidental scattering, the BaguBagu would petrify and crumble to dust, leaving behind very solid, and very un-crumbled statues as the only sign of their presence.

That, and any other BaguBagu that didn't become dust after petrifying something. Ten had emerged in a place where nine Pokemon, Rattata, had tried to attack them. Shortly after, the lone BaguBagu had perched atop one of the new statues, since there seemed to be nothing else around.

Until a few moments later when a girl with blue hair in a black and pink dress wandered into the small clearing that had become a gnome garden, and regarded the petrified Pokemon in confusion.

"Why would someone leave a bunch of statues of Rattata around?" Dawn asked. Piplup shrugged.

She walked over to inspect one.

"Hm... Really detailed... but why do some of them look surprised? Are they meant to be fighting each other?"

The little BaguBagu looked at the nearby organic, and responded the only way it knew how. It flew at her leg, and with one touch, Dawn's fate was sealed.

"Ah! Something bit... me..." She trailed off, feeling somewhat sleepy.

The Piplup squeaked and wailed in protest as he watched his trainer start to turn grey all over,  feezing in place. The wave spread out, Dawn already statue-still, grey replacing pink flesh, and the pink and black of her dress, for clothing would be affected too as a result of this more unstable process. Her blue hair turned alabaster, and her hat perched on her head became a rock.

There were now ten statues, one startled and horrified Piplup, and a few seconds later, no BaguBagu left here...

Emerging underwater was bad news for most BaguBagu. Some would hit plankton and turn a few hundred or so particles to stone, and become dust themselves. Others would simply sink and eventually be crushed under the water pressure. Some would be eaten by fish... that soon became rocks.

One however, happened to be spotted by a Mermaid princess as it sank.

"What's that? Another thing from the Human world?" the red-haired Mermaid pondered as she swam towards the sinking insect. Not knowing what it was, Ariel reached out with cupped hands to catch it...

...and moments later, no BaguBagu was sinking. Instead, a very detailed statue of a Mermaid in creation was doing so. She had frozen like Dawn, floating for a moment as the wave went down her hands, but unlike Dawn, she had saw her hands freeze and had time to react. Not much, but she reacted.

"...What did it do... to my hands..." She managed to ask as her mind became blank as a result of the process.

Her loss of buoyancy came as the wave was spreading down her tail. Her flowing red hair was now frozen in pale stone, and as the wave went lower, so did she, sinking towards the bottom.

Many of the BaguBagu were in harmless places. What few caused a problem elsewhere, it was generally to animal life, but some other things, such as humans and mermaids, were affected. Most of the affected objects would eventually revert... but it was a rather random process, taking between hours to years. But the effects of the scattered BaguBagu would be reverted eventually, even as they caused a few instances of havoc in other worlds.

The one that had managed to be missed out of the whole process in Neotopia however, was not going to be quite as easy a problem to solve given that once it had landed on Sayla later that night, it did not crumble to dust... and instead simply flew off looking for another target.

She had been asleep at the time, and she, along with her bed, bedsheets, and clothes, had become a very strange statue of a sleeping girl. Her parents became a not quite as strange pair of unconscious people after they fainted.

And as for the other BaguBagu... Well, though few caused problems, this was not to say three accidents was the end of it. There had been hundreds of thousands of the insects, sent to hundreds of thousands of places... With numbers like that, "few" could run into low four figures.
