The three girls each had a problem. A very similar problem. All three knew that they had found their "one", the guy that was perfect for them in every way.

But for Amy, Cosmo, and Shade, if their intended beaus knew of their views, they did not appear to notice the ladies as much more than friends. And the three of them were not very pleased.

Shade's attraction to Knuckles was somewhat derailed by his devotion to guarding the Master Emerald. Her attempts to have him ask first had faltered, and her own attempts thereafter to see if he wanted to go somewhere like a move had been politely declined as the red Echidna was too busy. She had succeeded in a few dates, but even she would not regard the relationship as boyfriend-girlfriend yet, no matter what she wanted to do.

Cosmo, meanwhile, could get the attention of Tails... Except more often than not, the two-tailed fox was more interested in fiddling with some machine. He was even prone to zoning her out from conversations, and not hearing her when she asked to try and help him out.

For Amy, however, Sonic had noticed. This was because even had he been deaf, blind, and unable to speak Mobian, the pink hedgehog would still have made her obsession clear. Whatever reasons he had for no interest at the moment had little sway to her, and she had dismissed many of them in her head, and determined he was merely playing extremely hard to get. She was incredibly skilled at such wishful thinking.

The trio could perhaps have tried harder or more forcefully. They could have maybe just told their targets outright in some cases what they felt. They could have tried a number of other approaches.

Instead, thanks to Amy, they wound up simply venting their issues to each other.

"I mean, how many times have I said it? Why won't he just give in and realise that I know he's just stalling to pretend? He knows we're perfect! I just wish I could show him we should be together forever!"

"Tails is just more interested in his gizmos. And I just want to help him out. I think he'd notice me more then. I just really wish he'd notice that I'm there and I want to give him a hand."

"Knuckles is... Ugh, why does he not just realise it? I'd stay there with him guarding that dumb emerald if he really wanted, but he can't stand sentinel there forever! Would it kill him just once to know I could help him out? I just wish he'd think as much of me as he does that emerald..."

At this, though, there was a flash. The three yelped in surprise as a floating figure, wearing two golden rings on his arms, appeared.

More strangely, he wore a suit.

"Who are you?! Why are you here?! What are you?!"

All this came from Amy, who had whipped her Piko-Piko hammer out. Shade and Cosmo did not look happy either.

"Who am I, why am I here, and what am I... Easy. I'm a Genie, I'm a Genie, I'm a Genie."

Amy perked up. Cosmo looked confused. Shade frowned.

"A Genie? Yeah, right, I don't buy it."

"Whoa, Shade, shush. Let's not be too hasty... So, you're a Genie?" Amy said.

"He's a Genie?" Cosmo finally said.

"Yes. And I'm a little confused here, neither of you appear to resemble parrots."

"So, you're a being that grants wishes. Prove it?" Shade challenged.

He snapped his fingers. A small sheet of paper appeared.

"Certainly. I will grant you each one wish. If you would read this and agree to the terms of service in this End User Licence Agreement and..."

"Forget reading, I agree! I want a wish!" Amy yelled.

"You wish for a wish?" The Genie smirked.

"Ye... No! No! I want to make a wish!"

The Genie smiled.

"And the others?"

Shade sighed.

"Fine, yeah, I'll take one."

Cosmo nodded agreement too.

"Okay, great, we all agree! Can we make the wishes now?"

"Yes, but I do have to advise you of..."

Amy snarled. The Genie sighed.

"Fine. Go ahead. We can sort that part out later."

Amy spoke up first.

"I want to be with Sonic for all our lives and I want the whole world to see we're together forever! And make it the real Sonic! Not a robot or a clone or a ghost or something stupid!"

Cosmo shrugged, but also blushed.

"I guess... I would like Tails to want my help more often, at least. I just want to help him out, you know? Do what he says? And... And be his... be his girl..."

Shade spoke, with some obvious scepticism.

"Make me as interesting to Knuckles as that dumb emerald."

The Genie nodded.

"Very well. Under the terms of Section 6 of the End User Licence Agreement, I, as a duly appointed and accredited member of the Wizarding, Mystics, Mythological Beings and Farm Workers Union, and as a representative of a tax registered business in..."

"Whoa, what happened to 'your wish is my command' or whatever?!" Amy protested.

The Genie sighed. Shade frowned.

"Wait, farm workers?"

She was ignored.

"Very well. Your wish is my command. Please do not hesitate to call our helpline if..."

"Wishes! Now!"

The Genie sighed and snapped his fingers.

***

Amy wanted to explode with joy! Sonic was in front of her! Sonic was embracing her! They were together!

'This is perfect!' She shouted in her head.

She then spotted something. Sonic appeared to be... Well, a statue.

'He tricked me! He just made a Sonic statue for me!'

She was startled a moment later to hear a familiar voice in her head.

'Amy? Why can I hear you in my head? And why are you all grey? What's perfect?'

If she was not already apparently a statue, she would have froze.

'Sonic? Is that you?'

The male hedgehog sighed in her mind.

'No, I'm Shadow in disguise, of course it's me! Why can't I move? Did we get turned to stone or something?!'

Amy would have sweatdropped, but of course this was somewhat impossible.

'Er... I think... I think we might have. '

Sonic was silent for a moment.

'How did this happen and what was so perfect?'

Amy thought of something, thinking of keeping it hidden. She then thought a word, and thought another whilst thinking of Sonic hearing it.

'Banana.'

'What? Amy, I don't... Oh no, can we share every thought we have?!'

Amy "thought" quickly.

'No! You just have to think it to me! You can keep things secret by not thinking they're replies to me.'

Sonic was silent again.

'Well, I never heard you complain about what I though earlier come to think of it so I guess that makes sense...'

Amy missed what Sonic had implied.

'Anyway, uh... I'm not sure how to say this but I met a Genie and I wished for something but... He kind of tricked me...'

Sonic sighed.

'Great. This is just perfect... You were being sarcastic earlier weren't you.'

Amy tried to nod. She failed. Her rock neck had no plans to move.

'Wait a second... Where are we?'

Amy wondered about this herself, and was startled to then see not Sonic before her, but a view of her and Sonic embracing as statues. She wore her dress, just as petrified as she was, and Sonic held her in his arms. The two statues stared into each others eyes as if about to kiss. They stood in the middle of the park, in sight of all

'Wow, we look so romantic... ' She sighed in her head.

'What?'

'Wow, I should have been more pedantic! About the wish!'

She had a feeling Sonic wanted to shake his head.

'Don't worry, it's not your fault. Was anyone else with you?'

Amy tried to nod again. She then wondered how Cosmo and Shade had reacted to what happened to her...

***

As it was, they had no reactions to Amy's situation, for their own situations had begun right away too.

Cosmo found herself standing behind Tails,  with a tray in her hands. She wore a Maid uniform.

"Thanks for the drinks, Cosmo. Can you go get the socket wrench?"

Cosmo bowed.

"Certainly, master..." She found herself saying.

She was unfortunately quite unaware she was now a brainwashed and hypnotised maid performing every order Tails would give. The two-tailed Fox was also blissfully unaware Cosmo had ever been anything more than a Maid he had hired to be an assistant while he worked on various projects.

***

Shade's situation was a little more transparent in more ways than one.

Currently, she was on Angel Island, staring at Knuckles, who was reaching towards her.

'Whoa! Is this what he does with the Master Emerald?! Yikes, too much attention too fast!'

She was then confused to hear a spray can, and note he had a polishing cloth.

'Wait a second... What's....'

She had pondered her situation and earned an out of body experience much like Amy had. She saw Knuckles, no longer guarding a Master Emerald, but polishing the replacement.

A shimmering statue of green emerald. Which was made from her. Her body, clothes and all, was now the same semi-transparent emerald that the Master Emerald had been.

'Oh great! Now what do I do?'

She then giggled. Being polished was surprisingly ticklish, and Knuckles was remarkably gentle yet firm as he cleaned the statue he presumably was tasked to now guard in the wish-altered reality Shade had inadvertently created thanks to a literal Genie...

However, even that did not distract her from the fear she was now an Emerald forever.

She was luckily wrong.

***

The three girls were bemused. Amy and Shade both gleefully realised they could move. Cosmo just blinked.

"What... Just happened? Everything blurred for a second..."

"I'm normal! I'm not a rock!" Shade and Amy shouted.

"Your thirty day trial of the Level One Wish-Granting Service has expired. To purchase the thirty day demo of Level Two..."

"Wait... Trial? This was a trial?!" Amy squeaked.

"Yes. As I was trying to explain before you demanded wishes, it was a trial. What did you think of the outcomes?"

Shade snarled.

"You turned me into a Master Emerald statue! I didn't like it one bit!"

She then blushed slightly and murmured to herself.

"Well, except the polishing... It tickled but it was nice too..."

No one heard her nor noticed her blush.

"I don't remember anything!" Cosmo protested.

"Ah. That would be because your mind had been altered to be the obedient servant of Tails." The Genie explained.

Amy stood in silence, muttering to herself something about trials.

"So, do you wish to purchase the full package of Level One wishes? We can extend or cancel your initial wish and grant two further wishes for the low sum of twenty-five percent of your soul, or upgrade to a fifteen day trial of Level Two wishes..."

"No! We don't want any more wishes!" Shade and Cosmo yelled.

Amy shook her head.

"Yeah! Yeah, sign me up for.. Wait, what's Level Two? Like the full thing?"

The Genie produced a booklet from nowhere.

"Level Two wishes grant you full creative control and a preview of each wish prior to casting. With a total of three wishes and a seven day cooling off period that can be used to undo a wish up to six times in total, the Level Two wish is a bargain at only two hundred percent of a soul!"

Amy moaned.

"Two hundred?! I need someone elses soul... Wait, what about Level One?!"

Shade and Cosmo leapt into action, grabbing the pink hedgehog.

"She doesn't want any wishes either!" Shade said.

"I do! I was with Sonic! We were statues but we were cuddling and we looked so great and it was great being able to float out of my body to look around us and..."

The two restrained her mouth as well. She screamed helplessly, pinned and muffled

"Nope! No more wishes here! Thanks but we don't want to continue!" Cosmo said

The Genie nodded.

"Very well. Thank you for trialling a Genie, Djinn, and Wish Product."

As he arrived, he vanished. Shade and Cosmo sighed in relief. Amy wailed.

"B-b-but we we looked... We were... I was being hugged by Sonic and he was never gonna let me go!" She wailed.

Shade and Cosmo groaned.

"I wish we'd let her do it now... At least she'd be quiet..." Shade groaned.

Cosmo's eyes widened.

"Wait! No! She didn't mean that literally!"

Shade groaned at her near error as Amy still babbled.

"Sheesh... Careful what you wish for, huh?"

"That, or read the manual in future....  Huh. Tails should probably do that more often." Cosmo realised. Maybe... Maybe she could read the manuals for him?

And so, Shade was relieved. Cosmo had an idea. And Amy had been thwarted from getting her heart's desire in a most roundabout way. Once she calmed down a little though, she would have realised the drawbacks of life as a statue, even with her wishful thinking.
