Takeru sighed, and checked his watch again. Three hours now.

Three hours since Patamon had flown off in a bad mood. Three hours since everyone else had went back home. Three hours of sitting around wondering who was really in the wrong.

It had started as an argument between Veemon and Patamon, in which despite the best efforts of Gatomon and Hawkmon to mediate, had begun to drag the two's human partners into it. However, Takeru was a little annoyed by the fact that this time, Patamon had started it. Veemon was on the defensive, and when Patamon had tried to get Takeru to back up a claim, the blond human had no choice.

No choice, that is, but to side with Veemon, because what Patamon had been saying wasn't true.

The worst part was, he couldn't even remember the first argument. Whatever Veemon and Patamon had been so upset about was gone, replaced by how angry Patamon had been. The small winged digimon had accused Takeru of betrayal, of being afraid of Daisuke, of being a coward, of all sorts of things.

And then Patamon had said he was leaving and Takeru could go find a new partner because he was going to go see if one of the other digidestined  from around the world might want two digimon. And rather than trying to calm his friend down, Takeru had simply said one of the worst things possible.

"That's completely stupid! How the hell is that going to work?"

Of course, if he'd said "Fine then, go!" or something similar,  maybe it would have been worse. But Takeru regretted not apologising and trying to calm his partner down, and so, he waited by the way home and was bored.

'We're both in the wrong, I guess.' He admitted to himself for the fourth time in the last three hours. 'I'll apologise to him when he comes back and... Well, he'll probably say sorry too.'

It was fortunate these woods were fairly quiet, but that had just made them more boring. Takeru hadn't been concerned about anything attacking him or Patamon. But he was staring around at the forest, not looking for threats, but for something, anything that could be interesting. More interesting than waiting and mulling over mistakes.

As he stood up to stretch his legs, there was a glint of sunlight off an object in a tree a few hundred feet away. Takeru carefully looked between his position and the tree, and then, carefully walked over. Just because he didn't think getting attacked was likely, he wasn't going to abandon the healthy paranoia he had developed about the unexpected in the Digital World.

Nearing the tree, he saw whatever had glinted was an object lying in a branch at the top. He made sure he could still see the way back home, and climbed up. He was rather surprised by what he found.

'A Digivice?'

Sitting before him, was a small silver and white Digivice. Taking his own D3 out to compare, he noted the silver one resembled it, but lacked an aerial prong, had a larger screen, and the central button was now surrounded by what looked like a scroll wheel.

That healthy paranoia meant he wasn't touching this thing for love nor money.  He'd just send a message on his D-Terminal to the others to report it. Weird Digivices lying around could be a signal of future problems.

At that point, a present problem made itself known when Takeru heard the branch of the tree next to him creak. Takeru barely managed to jump out of the way as a massive wooden fist smashed into the branch.

"This is my forest, human! Stay off the trees!" The Woodmon roared.

Takeru managed to land relatively safely, losing only his hat from his head, but as he scrabbled to stand back up, he put his hand on something small and silver.

It glowed.

"Oh, crap..." Takeru realised. First a Woodmon was out to get him and now he'd done something to this weird Digivice.

"An unprovoked attack!" The Woodmon cried, mistaking (or deliberately interpreting) the glow for a threat.

"No, I'm not trying to hurt you!" Takeru reasoned as he stood, only to find the Digivice was stuck to his hand. And he had shone the glow right in the eyes of the angry Digimon.

It roared in a rage and charged. Takeru managed to leap out of the way as it crashed into, and knocked over, a tree.  Takeru had rolled onto his back and scrabbled away, scooting backwards. The creature swung again and Takeru barely managed to dodge, once more winding up on his back and crawling away from his attacker. He noticed he'd reached the way out, and considered just fleeing there and then to go get the others.

This was when Takeru noticed his body was glowing too.

'This can't be good...' He realised as he felt his glowing body tingle and warm up.

"And now trying to explode and destroy my forest?! Humans! All you do is destroy!"

"What?! I'm not trying to explode! Wait... I'm going to explode?!" Takeru realised.

At this point, his shoes flew off and hit the Woodmon in the face, followed by his socks.

It growled in anger.

"I... I didn't do that!" Takeru protested as he felt himself... Floating off the ground and rolling around slowly to a standing... Er, vertical position?

Oh great, he was going to explode, wasn't he?

His shirt flew off then, but in his panic Takeru barely noticed as it landed in the fallen remains of the tree branch he had climbed earlier.

"I will rip you to splinters!" The angry Woodmon proclaimed. Only for Takeru's shorts to now fly off onto the ground, and for the human boy to realise his shirt was gone.

'Oh great. I'm not just going to explode, I'm going to explode naked...'

At this point his underwear then flew off. And Takeru found he couldn't move his arms to cover up, even as the strange Digivice dropped free from his grasp.

'At least no one's here to see this. I never imagined I'd be killed in such a stupid way...' He thought.

Then he realised, he was growing larger...

His chest felt warm, and it felt like it was expanding. But somehow other body parts seemed to contract. There was a very alarming tingle down there and he tried to look, but his body glowed so brightly he couldn't see.

Thanks to his blindness, Takeru did not see his hair growing longer and longer, splitting into two. He did not notice the shape of his body altering into an hourglass shape, nor fully realise what was happening with the changes yet.

The almost-spectral forms of yellow armour appeared over the glowing figure, purple glove-gauntlets and boots, a yellow breastplate and shoulder pads, plus a yellow fox-like helmet. The next change was a dark bodysuit that lessened some of the glow as it coated almost all the exposed illuminating areas. A belt with a fox icon appeared, as did small yellow kneepads that closer to belts. A staff appeared in hand,

The clothing was not what mainly alarmed Takeru as the levitation ended.

Takeru was staring down at the new chest.

The rather female chest.

She cried out.

"What... What the hell?! That Digivice turned me into a girl?!"

The Woodmon stared in surprise, then grinned.

"You're no girl... And no human! You're a Sakuyamon and I'm going to enjoy absorbing your data."

Takeru/Sakuyamon glanced up from her surprise additions to glower at the Digi... other Digimon.

"I'm not having a great day so far, so shut up and get away from me." Sakuyamon growled.

Woodmon lunged forth.

"You asked for it!" Sakuyamon said, swinging the staff like a club.

The unfortunate tree-like Digimon found itself hurtling skywards, to land in parts unknown, thanks to the angry strike of the boy-turned-Digiwomon. Anger at recent events, surprise at them, the lingering traces of fear from the attack... And the way it had said that data absorbing line had sounded very, very creepy.

Seething with anger, as she calmed down, Takeru/Sakuyamon's mind returned to other matters.

Worst-case scenarios rose up. Was this permanent? Would he... She ever change back? And even if it was back to human, would it be a male human?

'Oh man... What if I'm a girl now... Wait...'

Pointlessly, Sakuyamon grasped somewhere in alarm, having fully known nothing would be there to grasp. She tried to think.

'Even if there's a way back this isn't good. It might happen again, or happen all the time. How's everyone going to react to this?'

Takeru pondered this.

'Oh man... I need to hide this from everyone or figure out what... Happened... The Digivice!'

Sakuyamon looked around and found the device was lying on the floor. She snatched it up, and sure enough, it was active! She read the screen. There was a main body of text and a sidebar

'Digivolution Status: 99%. Estimated time... Forty hours?!'

The other options on the sidebar seemed to be a scroll menu, so Sakuyamon attempted to move the scroll wheel, but it flew all around. Options Menu, Current Digivolution Menu... And was that a Cancel Current?! She tried to find it but the wheel had a mind of it's own.

"Selected to convert to: Angewomon. This will abort your current setting and reduce overall Digivolution length. Continue?" The screen now said.

'No!' She almost shrieked aloud, managing to cancel the option.

"Takeru? Are you still here?" A voice shouted distantly. Sakuyamon wheeled around and saw Patamon was not near the exit yet, but could be no further than five hundred meters away guessing from the volume and echo of his voice.

'Oh crap... I need to figure this thing out fast.'

Another thought struck the transformed human at that point, and even as Sakuyamon/Takeru battled with the scroll-wheel, she looked in horror at the clothing scattered around.

Odds are, no matter what gender a change back to human would be, there would be no clothing.

And very little time to get it back on before Patamon arrived.

Takeru, she or he, would have some explaining to do no matter what.
