It was the middle of the summer break, and Kari Kamiya was bored. Very bored.

Gatomon and Agumon had both went to New York of all places to have a sleepover with Palmon, along with all the other Digimon. Tai meanwhile was hanging out with Henry Wong, their neighbour. TK and Matt were both in France visiting their grandparents there, Davis was overseas with his family on a summer break, while Yolei and Sora were both working in the respective stores owned by their parents, and apparently Joe, Izzy and Ken were all studying at Izzy's. All of her other friends were either away or out already, and she was stuck inside alone and bored in the middle of summer. And in a warm house where her mother was rationing the use of the Air Conditioning.

"Boooored..." she sighed, lying on her bed.

There was nothing on TV, she'd watched all the dvds in the house that she liked, she'd even finished her homework. She'd read all her manga and books, she had no money to go out and buy any more, and even if her mother would let her the money issue also ruined her idea of going to get some Ice Cream. But a break to her boredom was knocking at the door. Kari heard her mother answer the door, and then shout.

"Kari? Are you busy?"

The Digidestined of Light hesitated for a moment. She was bored, but she was also feeling a little lazy today as well. And when her mother had asked that yesterday she had spent the day in the even warmer kitchen helping her mother bake healthy, but not very tasty, cookies.

"...No, why?" She eventually answered back.

"Mrs. Wong wants to ask a favour."

That got her attention. On one hand it was pretty likely that Suzie was in, and even though Kari was five years older than her, Kari liked to hang around with the youngest of the four Wong children. She was ambivelant about Jaarin though, since she was fifteen and apparently like most girls between fourteen and sixteen in the whole of Odaiba had a huge crush on Matt. Which generally meant the older Wong girl only ever spoke to Kari when she was sure Tai wasn't going to help her speak to Matt. On the other, even if she wasn't in, the Wongs kept their AC on all the time in summer, and chances were Mrs. Wong would reward Kari for helping out with Butterscotch ice cream.

"What is it?" Kari asked as she left her room.

"I need to go out for a couple of hours and I can't leave Suzie alone. Could you watch her for a while?"

"Sure, it's not a problem." Kari replied.

"Thank you, Kari. Ah, Yuuko, can she..."

Kari's mother sighed.

"Yes, Janyu, Kari can have ice cream if you have it. But not too much, I don't want you wasting your dinner." She said, addressing the last part to her daughter, who nodded.

'I don't think a whole tub is too much in this weather...' Kari pondered as she followed Mrs. Wong to her home.

Kari was barely in the door behind Mrs. Wong and taking her shoes off when a small, fast shape ran up and hugged her.

"Hi Kawi!" Suzie said, still mispronouncing her R's.

"Heya, Suzie." Kari replied.

"Go wait and watch TV, Suize, mommy needs to tell Kari some important stuff ." Mrs Wong said.

"Okay!" Suzie said, bounding away into the room with the TV.

"Okay, Kari, the fridge and freezer should have anything Suzie wants to eat and any ice cream you want in it. You know my cellphone number..."

'Yup... And it's written on the notepad on the fridge.' Kari thought, but still listened. Mrs. Wong went through this every time.

"...And the police and the hosptial and fire department..."

'110 and 119... Written beside your cell...'

"...and the rule about unlocking the door to the balcony..."

'Not to.'

"...And to make sure Suzie doesn't go into other people's rooms..."

'Sure. We didn't find anything intresting in her brother's room last time anyway... ' Kari remembered.

Eventually, she was done with her list of things Kari already knew, and was about to actually leave.

"Be good for Kari, Suzie. I won't be too long." Mrs. Wong said as she left. Almost right away, Kari sat beside the air conditioning unit and sighed happily, causing Suzie to giggle. She'd seen Kari react like this enough to know why the older girl was so pleased to be in a cool room

"Youw house too hot again?"

"Yeah. And the latch on the window in my room is still broken..."

After lying around for a few minutes and cooling down, while Suzie finished watching the tv show that was on, Kari stood to get some ice cream from the freezer. Despite the earlier thought though, Kari didn't take the whole tub of the butterscotch ice cream, but a fairly large portion. Suzie took some as well, but unlike Kari, not very much. Suzie sat quietly watching the TV once more, and just as Kari was finishing, the younger girl shuffled towards a wall and tried to lean her head into the floor. She had her hands straight by her sides.

"Suzie, what are you doing?"

"Twying to leawn how to do a headstand. Evewyone else in my class can." She replied.

"You don't want to do it the way you're trying. You'll hurt yourself."

Suzie stopped and turned around

"Can you do a headstand, Kawi?"  She asked

"Yeah, I can."

"Can you show me? An' teach me how?"

Kari paused. She tapped the floor with her foot, noting that even with a carpet it was rock hard.

"Well, we'll need to get something softer to land on..."

After a quick raid of Suzie's room, the closet, and the sofa for pillows, cushions and a thick duvet cover, the floor was made a little safer.

"Okay, it's better to do it beside the wall especially when you're learning, in case you lose your balance." Kari said, having Suzie stand back.

She sat on her knees, a couple of feet from the wall. She placed her head on the floor, followed by her hands about midway between her knees and head, and  gently lifted one leg into the air. She shifted her weight carefully, and a few seconds later, was performing a headstand, pointing her toes into the air.

However, her shirt fell down, as Kari had forgot to tuck it into the waistband of her shorts. Luckily not by much, but Kari remembered the accident one of her friends had when wearing a looser shirt a few years ago. Suzie however found this amusing, unaware of Kari's friend who had panicked after the shirt fell over her eyes, fell over, and had fractured her wrist as a result.

"I can see your bewwy button Kawi!" Suzie giggle as Kari carefully dropped from the headstand, and stood back up. She began tucking the top into her shorts as she spoke.

"Okay, that's actually pretty important to do. Make sure you tuck your shirt in, if it falls it might go over your eyes and you can't see. Not to mention it can be embarrising..." Kari noted. Suzie nodded.

"Oh, and never do a headstand wearing a skirt. Especially when there are boys around."

"Why? It won't get ovew my eyes... And what's so bad to do it awound boys?" The younger girl asked, a little confused.

"You don't want them to see your underwear and tease you about it do you?" Kari said, older and also wiser, especially in the realms of where the eyes of males would wander in such a scenario.

"No. But all the boys in my class is dumb anyway so they'd just think of somefin' else silly if they wanna annoy us." Suzie said.

Kari demonstrated again, having Suzie watch closely.

***

"Okay, do you want to try now? I'll hold your feet when you do it so you don't overbalance."

Suzie sat down, and tried to copy what Kari had done.

"Keep your neck straight. If it hurts, stop." Kari added as Suzie began. Unlike Kari, the smaller girl almost threw her feet in the air, and had Kari not caught her, she would have whacked into the wall.

"You need to be patient too. Throwing your legs up like that, you'll hurt yourself."  The older girl instructed gently

'Or me. If you were any taller you could have kicked me in the face...' She added to herself

Suzie tried a few more times, getting the hang of being a little more careful. Then Kari stood back as she tried again, ready to catch her if she had to, but trying to see if Suzie could manage it without being supported.

"Whooooa!"

This didn't work out very well. Luckily for Suzie, Kari was alert enough to stop her falling badly, but the constant failed efforts were getting to her after a short while.  She sat on the floor, tears welling in her eyes.

"I'm nevva gonna leawn how to do them wight..." She sniffled. Kari was quick to reassure her.

"You just need to practice, that's all. It took me a while to learn properly."

"...Weally? But you did it well befowe.."

"Yeah. I started to learn them when I was a little younger than you, so I've had practice. I had a little help as well, but really, I only learned how to do it by practicing."

"Did Tai help?" Suzie asked.

"No, it was our friend Sora. She made sure I stayed balanced when I was trying to learn."  Kari replied.

"Well... Then I just have to twy again?"

"Pretty much. You're getting there though, you just need to try and keep your balance."

Feeling encouraged, Suzie tried again, and again, but Kari's words drove her on, and instead of feeling down when she failed to stay balanced, she simply became more determined. Until on one try, she realised she wasn't falling over.

"All right! You did it!" Kari said happily. Suzie let out a delighted squeal.

"Now drop your feet gently back the way they came." Kari advised. Suzie did so, then sat up after getting back down, face beaming.

"Nice job, Suzie!" Kari said as she gave the delighted younger girl a hug.

"What sowta stuff do they do in youw school?" Suzie asked. The pair had decided to watch TV again, and Suzie had begun to ask some random questions.

"Well... I think the same stuff you'd be doing but for older kids."

"...Like wowking in gwoups? My and my fwiends had a paintin' to do."

"Well, I guess we work in groups, sort of. Me and TK have to work together on a report..."

"...Who's TK?" Suzie said, not sure who Kari meant

"Takeru Takaishi. He's the guy your sister thinks is cute because she's got a huge crush on his older brother."

"The one who weaws those goggles?"

"That's Davis."

"No, the one who Henwy knows."

"I think you're getting TK mixed up with Taka...whatisname."

Meanwhile, Henry and Tai entered the home.

"I guess my mom had to go out, your sister's shoes are here." Henry said.

"Probably." Tai shrugged, then heard the voices of the conversation. The two boys walked in, and saw a strange sight. Their sisters were in front of the TV, chatting away, whilst doing headstands.

"Oh, hi Tai, Henry. What's the name of that guy who hangs around with you? Taka-something." Kari asked, oblivious to the confused looks on the faces of the two boys.

"Uh... Takato." Henry replied

"Ah, thanks. That was bugging me there..."

"Do we want to ask?" Tai spoke up.

"Ask what?" Suzie said, obviously confused as to what the two could ask about. Henry and Tai's only response to that was to look at each other, their faces perfect mirrors of each other's confusion...
