two years later…

daisuke 'davis' motomiya was very confused by it all still. Just two weeks ago he was normal nine year old boy have just celebrated his ninth birthday last week. however that all changed when he'd woken up in the middle of a strange forest with a blue creature, calling himself a digimon, jumping on his chest. he still wasn't sure about it all and neither were the two others that had been with him at the time. but between the three of them, only he had volunteered to help gennai (who revealed he had brought them here) when he told them what had happened to the last digidestined. the others had apparently been sent back home and davis, the only one of the three who had accepted the call to become a digidestined, was sent looking for plants.

'i still don't get what the point in these plants is. what does gennai need them for?' davis said sighing

'come on davis! he said it would help save the other digidestined!' his digimon partner veemon told him

and that was the problem there. gennai had told the newest digidestined that he'd tried before to bring another into the digital world, but it had failed. the one boy he had selected was somehow corrupted and had begun to try and conquer the digital world as its emperor. he apologized for it when the other two declined hearing the fate of the last group, but davis would have to be alone to evade the other, rouge digidestined, and save the previous generation.

'these plants will save them?'

'yeah. mixing them into a potion, it should save... um, what's his name? the guy gennai said is trapped'

'how's he trapped?' davis asked, not remembering the name either

'he was turned to stone, and the other 5 digidestined and digimon were transformed into keychains.'

'oh yeah. was gennai serious about that? keychains?'

some time later…

'he's not very friendly...' davis said. he'd just dodged a hail of pepper breaths, and mourned his loss. that loss being his goggles (and some of his hair) which had been burned by one of those pepper breaths.

'why won't you let me attack him? i'd wipe the floor with him!' veemon whined.

'because we need to convince him we're on his side!'

'but how? i mean, You got luck the last time but he might get the rest of your face next time instead of ruining your goggles and giving your hair an instant trim'

a pepper breath burst on the rocks nearby

'look, agumon, we're here to help! we're on your side!' davis shouted. a hail of pepper breaths hit the rock he hid behind.

'are we sure he's on our side though?' veemon asked.

'look, i'll handle it. agumon, i can help tai.' davis shouted. agumon paused.

'...how?'

'gennai sent me with something to turn him back.'

agumon hesitated.

'give it to me. i'll see if this is a trap.'

'take it to him.' davis said to veemon.

'why me?!'

'cos you won't catch fire if he attacks you!'

'it'll still hurt!'

'but you weren't hurt that much when he hit you when you failed that v-headbutt attempt. If he gets me i'd be cinders!'

while they argued, agumon had advanced to right beside them. the pair jumped in surprise. agumon held a paw out, but had his mouth open ready to attack as they could see the flames building in his mouth. davis handed over the vial of the potion gennai had made.

'wait here. no tricks.' agumon said. davis watched as agumon retreated into the cave. he then heard agumon cry out happily. a moment later. he ran back out.

'agumon, slow down! i still feel kinda stiff...' a voice protested from the cave as agumon charged at davis, barreling into him whilst thanking the new digidestined for his help.

'you're welcome but i can't breathe with you sitting on my lungs!' he wheezed. agumon was removed by human hands, and davis saw who he had saved. a boy with brown hair and a pair of unmelted goggles.

'oh hey. i'm davis. you must be tai.'

'yeah. what are you doing here?'

davis explained, tai sighed.

'so it's just us?'

'seems so. what happened to you all anyway?' davis asked. tai sighed again and produced 10 keychains from his pockets. 5 looked human, 5 were digimon.

'matt, metalgarurumon, takeru, patamon, izzy, tentomon, joe, gommamon, mimi and lillymon. piedmon did this to them. there were two more of us. sora, my friend, and kari, my little sister along with their digimons biyomon and gatomon. we... we don't know what happened to them...'

tai fell quiet at this. davis decided mentioning he had a sister wouldn't be appropriate right now.

'say, uh... your agumon kind of melted my goggles.' davis said, trying to change subject. he held up the remains of his own. tai stared at them.

'tough break but i'm not giving you mine. as the leader i am only allow one pair of goggles in the digidestined.' he smirked. davis pouted.

'but i'm not from your group of digidestined, i'm my own leader!'

'there's no one else in your group so you're the leader by default but even then you need goggles to be the leader!' tai said

'what... no you don't! what do goggles have to do with being a leader?' davis asked.

'...nothing. but you're pretty fun to annoy.' tai grinned.

'oh great, you're worse than my sister...' davis said without thinking. tai fell quiet again.

'you've got a sister too?'

'yeah... but she's my older sister. she doesn't like me much...' davis said.

'she probably does. you're her little brother. everyone i know who had a younger sibling finds them annoying at times... even kari could be irritating when she wanted to be.' tai admitted.

'so how old are you anyway?you look around my sister age's back before….she went missing.' tai asked.

'i just turned nine last week, why?' davis asked.

'kari had just turned nine herself back…then. she'd probably be eleven by now. great, my younger sister is probably the same age as me.' tai said as he realised this irony.

'so technically you don't have a '''younger''' sister since you're both the same age?' davis asked, but then shrunk back at the glare he got from tai.

as the two spoke, they were unknowingly being watched. but not by anything nearby, but by a boy davis' age. this observer was watching a monitor.

'so, there are more digidestined. only two but gennai will try and bring more...' he said.

'oh, please, ken, don't do it...' wormon pleaded. the digimon emperor flew into a fury

'quiet! this is the perfect time! activate it!'

the small green digimon cowered, but obeyed. he went over to a console and pressed a button. seconds later, it began.

'and now we close the door on anyone else trying to coming in...'

as davis and tai got acquainted, the sky turned black for a second. a howling wind began, then there was a flash of light, followed by lighting strikes across the entire sky, including one bolt that seemed to hit somwehre nearby, before everything returned back to the blue skies and calm weather from before.

'what just happened?' tai asked. as if in response, a hologram of gennai suddenly appeared.

'tai, i'm glad to see you back, but it looks like things just got harder. the digimon emperor has activated a device to merge this digital world with another. all ports opened leading to one leading back to the real world only lead a port in the other digital world with the same function , so if you try to leave, you just emerge in the other Digital World. Since they are now merged into one Digital world, you will just stay where you are.' he explained.

however this explanation left two digidestined and their digimon staring at him dumbfounded and causing him to explain it again before they finally got it

'so, we're stuck until we can separate the two worlds?' tai said.

'yes.'

tai thought for a moment.

'doesn't change anything. we need to save the others first before we can think of attacking this emperor guy or going home anyway.'

unknown to tai, it had changed things very slightly...

some distance away, near where the bolt of lighting had landed...

'...where are we?' a brown haired boy asked, looking around the forest. a groan from below him became an angry growl. he felt the blood drain from his face in fear when saw where this was coming from.

'I don't know where we are, but I know where you are. your fat butt is sitting on me so get off!' a red haired girl yelled furiously causing him to jump off her in embarrassment and a little fear

'sorry, rika! i don't know how that happened!' he tried to stay her wrath. she relented when she became aware that she was in an unfamiliar place.

'its okay, takato but where are our digimon?' she asked. as if on cue, thher digimon renamon appeared from the trees.

'we're in the digital world just like we planned to be in but something is... wrong...' renamon said.

'wrong?'

'it smells and looks weird...' guilimon ,takato's digimon, added as he walking up.

'this is not our digital world. it's like this one has completely merged with ours. i traveled our digital world before and never saw a  forest like this' renamon explained

'not your digital world? whose is it's then?' takato asked, confused.

'it's like a parallel dimension. possibly an another universe's.' renamon said.

'so... why are we only ones here?' takato pondered.

'beats me. maybe it because we were first to enter the portal to our digital world in the back of guilmon's shack.' rika shrugged.

'so do you think that calumon is here?' takato asked.

'it's likely that he is, most like the digimon of our world have appeared here as well as result of this merger.' renamon said. that had been their reason for going to the digital world so she really hoped calumon was around here somewhere...

meanwhile, elsewhere…

'why are you here?' ken asked the girl strapped down to a chair, anger evident in his tone.

this girl and what he guessed was her digimon,had appeared in a flash of light in the middle of his base! he'd stopped them before they could do any damage

'what have you done to leomon?!' she said ignoring the question he asked to ask one of her own. ken growled.

'he's under my control now thanks to my dark rings. now, what is your name and how did you get here?'

'i don't know how we got here! please, we didn't mean anything! let us go.' the girl pleaded .

'if you won't tell me, i'll have to scan your mind...'

for a second the girl considered telling him her name at least, but realized that he'd still want to know how she and leomon got here. which she did not know, as the two of them had just followed after takato, rika, and their digimon.  this place was nothing like the digital world that leomon had described to her. a few seconds later , he scanned her mind and she felt the painful migraine sensation of the digimon emperors' scanning device as it looked at her memories, she wished she had just told him her name.

meanwhile, rika and takato were about to get their own problems. someone had just emerged from the trees.

'an agumon?' renamon said in confusion.

'uh... it's pretty big for an agumon... maybe it's one native to this digital world or some kind of digimon that simply looks like one...' takato noted but his d-power clearly said it was an agumon.

'more humans, huh? well, you've got two choices. come quietly, or come painfully.'

'at least we don't need to wonder if he's friendly.' rika commented.

before renamon and guilimon could attack, agumon's forces struck. dozens of gardromon burst out, quickly attacking renamon. in mere seconds, renamon was down for the count. she was stronger than an average rookie, but still a rookie against multiple champions at once, and the speed of the attack caught her off guard. it had come so fat rika did not have a chance to use on her cards on renamon nor digivolve to her champion mode, leaving rika completely surrounded by dozens of gardromon.

this tactic of outnumbering and overwhelming their targets was not fairing so well against guilimon.  the large agumon was shocked to see the red digimon was acutally repelling his attackers.pryo spheres and rock breaker attacks took out one gardromon after another. eventually though he was overwhelmed by numbers, and takato's inability to digivolve him to champion. nevertheless agumon was surprised to see a rookie with such power.

'rika! hang on!' takato shouted. half of the gardromon that had attacked her and renamon were now joining the battle against guilimon, yet a few remained surrounding rika and the prone renamon.

'get out of here!' she shouted back.

'but i can't just run and leave you!'

'you're not going to be able to help me if guilmon gets pounded and we both get captured now, can you!' she pointed out even as she fought the gardromon trying to capture her, using a large branch to try and hold them back. it was better than punching them since she wouldn't break her hand, but it only kept them back.

takato noticed how many of them there were and considered she might be right. for every one that guilmon took down, two more took their place and those that he had already taken down were starting to get back up again.

'guilimon, come on!' takato shouted, running into the forest.

the gardromon tried to chase, but agumon halted them.

'don't pursue! knock out that human first.' he instructed. rika's struggles came to an end with a soft cry of pain as the gardromon nearest her knocked her out with the same speed and efficiency that they used to take out renamon.

'we could have taken them.' a gardromon protested.

'yeah, but he's heading in the direction of the cave. and i don't think that slave agumon is going to ask any questions...'

somewhere else, ken was impressed.

'that red creature... that guilimon... it's so powerful but it's such a low level! it's amazing...' he said. he watched the battle with his screen, having been alerted to it by his scanners noting a large number of digimon moving.

jeri watched anxiously, and cried out as she saw rika surrounded.

'my scanner claims you know these two, jeri. tell me, who are they, really? beyond just rika and takato?'

'i'm not telling you!' jeri responded. his hand hovered over the button to reactivate the scanner.

'sure?'

'positive' she said defiantly. she felt her defiant stance was a little ruined when she screamed as the migraine began again, but it was the principle of it.

'oh, what a coward...' ken admonished the boy on the screen. jeri looked, fighting through the pain in her head.

'you'd run away if you had that many things trying to attack you.' she told him. ken stood in thought for a moment

'how well do you know this boy?' ken asked, reading the scanner result, and having a plan forming for some interesting info he was learning from it...

meanwhile with takato…

the route in he took led him straight into the two others. while he was shocked to see other human like himself here in the digital world what shocked him even more were who these two people were exactly.

as takato stood there staring at them with his mouth open in shock, they started talking amongst themselves

'who's this? someone you know, davis?' tai asked.

'no idea.' came the reply.

'takato are you okay? guilmon asked, as takato stared in a daze

'...are you tai kamiya and davis Mmotomiya?' he asked eventually.

'yeah, that's us... but how do you know our names? we never met before.' davis asked.

at this young matsuki pinched himself apparently to see if he was seeing an illusion or not.

'i can't be dreaming. i'm  really standing here and so are they...' he said.

'okay…your partner seem out to lunch at the moment, so you tell us, who are you two?' tai asked gulimon.

'i'm guilmon and this my friend takato. we have other friends but they were captured by that larger augmon and his friends.' guilmon told them

'larger? you met him? where?' agumon said, surprised

'what mean larger agumon are all member of your speices the same size?' davis asked the dinosaur digimon.

'there's another, bigger, agumon. he's much different from me. he showed up at the cave once and told me to stay where i was and not try to rescue you, that he could take care of the digimon emperor himself and would do so when the time came. He also said if any other digidestined showed up he'd capture them all and make them his servants.'

'and you wait until now to tell us?' veemon fumed.

'we've been a little distracted with all that's going on...' agumon replied.

'servants? what's he gonna do to rika?!' takato said snapping out his daze.

'tai, we need to help this guy.' agumon said.

'a second ago you looked like a space case and now all of a sudden your paying attention...' davis commented. takato, tai, and pretty much everyone else ignored him.

'...i can everything explain later, but i could use the help. rika could be in big trouble.' takato said. tai looked him over.

'okay. but we're gonna keep an eye on you. it's not we don't trust you yet…wait, no, we'd be dumb to say that. we can't really trust you, so nothing funny.' tai said.

takato paused before he nodded in response. he could hardly fault them for being cautious, he wasn't sure if he could trust himself at the moment as he did not expect all this to happened by trying to save calumon...

'hey, you said your friend's name is rika... is rika a girl?' davis asked as the six began moving.

'yeah. and don't even think about it, i don't think she's the kind to tolerate flirting much.' takato warned

'ah. got it.' davis sighed.
