'i don't think this is a good idea.' wormon complained. the digimon emperor sighed.

'it's flawless. we can make a deal with him, because we both want the same thing. power, and those pests wiped out.'

the emperor and his digimon partner stood in one of many lairs the emperor had built across the digital world. this one was not his main lair, but one where he had been working on a little experiment. a strange machine made up most of the building. it had been built in a fairly isolated mountain, to stop the pests the emperor spoke of from finding it. the so-called digidestined. mere children who had thwarted his plans time and time again to his anger. but this plan would end them. the machine consisted of four metal pylons and a number of generators and monitors

'turn it on.' the emperor commanded.

'but...' wormon protested, but a crack of the emperor's whip changed his mind. the small caterpillar-like creature ran to the switch. the machine began to glow.

'it charges first, then it opens the gate.' wormon said.

'i know, fool, i built it.'

wormon did not point out the emperor had merely designed it and left wormon to build it. the pylons began to glow, and a white glowing sphere appeared between them. the sphere became a bright light, that filled the entire room. then the glow stopped. a human shape had appeared in between the pylons. the emperor looked and saw the creature that resembled a clown and smiled.

'welcome back to the digital world, piedmon. i am the digimon emperor.' ken began. the former dark master looked down at him. he then produced a handkercheifs and dropped it on the emperor. ken barely had time to protest before he shrunk into a plastic keyfob.

'i said it wasn't a good idea...' wormon said to his transformed master.

kari and mimi had planned to meet in a quiet area of the digital world where the control spires were long gone. it was not for any real reason, just that mimi had been in the digital world and kari had simply seen that she was there first. the two had met in a hut in the woods, talking idly about life and how the other digidestined groups were doing. it was gatomon who heard the noise, the cat-digimon having better hearing than the two humans or palmon.

'there's someone coming.' she said. the two humans and two digimon went to the front of the cabin and saw someone they though was dead, standing outside.

'that's impossible! what's he doing here?!' mimi squeaked.

'maybe it's not him?' palmon tried. gatomon shook her head.

'it's a real piedmon. it might not be him exactly, but there's no such thing as a good piedmon.'

'we've got to stop him.' kari said. the others agreed. they ran out to face him.

'hello ladies. i was just passing by whe...' piedmon stopped in mid sentence, staring at mimi.

'what? is there something wrong with my hair?' mimi asked. piedmon simply kept staring.

'...um. wow. for a human you're pretty cute.'

mimi blushed.

'what?'

'actually, i've decided maybe that this whole revenge thing isn't what it's cracked up to be. it's been a long time after all and i should let bygones be bygones. and besides, i didn't know there were cute humans. would you like to go out with me and i'll drop the whole revenge ramapge turning you all into keychain things?'

'i dunno... can i think about it for a minute?' mimi said.

'you're not really thinking about it are you?!' palmon said.

'why not? seems a pretty good deal.'

'he's evil! he turned everyone but you, me, tk, lillymon and patamon into keychains last time we met him!' kari said.

'wait, if i go out with you, even once, does that mean you won't try and turn everyone into keychains again?' mimi asked piedmon.

'of course.' he replied.

'i'd need a dress though...' mimi pondered.

'you can't seriously be thinking about getting a dress and flowers and really doing it, he's got a trick up his sleeve, he always does!' gatomon said.

'look, i can even get you a dress and two roses right here and right now.' piedmon said.

'okay, i'll do it then.' mimi said. piedmon smiled and produced three handkercheifs.

'see, it's a trick! he's going to turn us into keychains!' kari cried. but the first two hit the digimon and they didn't turn into keychains. they instead transformed into two roses, gatomon into a white rose and palmon into a red rose.

'that's not what i meant...' mimi sighed.

'wait, what about the dress?' kari realised. then she thought the statement through. a minute later she was cursing having even asked when she found herself transformed into a red silk evening gown.

'i'll turn them back after the date, i promise.'

mimi was about to say no, but kari had become a really pretty dress... and it wasn't like kari and the two digimon would object just now.

'okay, fair enough. where will we go?' mimi said. a few minutes later she entered the cabin to change and found kari was not only a pretty dress, but a very good fit.

biyomon was not surprised that she was having trouble keeping up with sora. if someone was in trouble and sora could help, she'd get there fast.

'that's the cabin they said they were at. shouldn't we wait for someone else?' biyomon said as the cabin came into view.

sora halted.

'you're right. tk was coming, wasn't he? we'll wait for him.'

tk and patamon were soon there.

'i got here as fast as i could. are the others okay?' tk asked.

'i don't know. i haven't seen anything move at the cabin.' sora said.

the two humans and two digimon moved towards the cabin. piedmon opened the door and walked out.

'hello, my old friends...' he began, but the four who had just arrived were not letting him talk. biyomon and patamon both attacked straight away. it did nothing, but kicked up a lot of dust. piedmon pulled four handkercheifs out of his pockets.

'how rude! here i am, greeting you and welcoming you to my greatest ac... aaaah...' piedmon said as the dust made him feel like sneezing. he did, and brought a handkercheif to his face,

'...my greatest mistake.' he finished, as the handkercheif began to transform him into a keychain.

'...anyway, the point is i'll make a deal. i'll give you back one of the eight i've turned into keychains for every one of you four. but you can't have a human plus their digimon partner. mixes only. any questions? oh, and give me the keychains back.' piedmon said

matt and tai stood their ground until piedmon held mimi up and began bending her plastic leg.

'okay, we'll give you them back!' matt said. piedmon held his hand out and caught them.

'good. now, do we have a deal?'

matt and tai looked at each other. both shook their heads.

'no. i've got a different deal. we play a game of your choice for all or nothing.' tai said.

'wait, i just shook my head, i don't...' matt began, but piedmon cut him off.

'a game? i love the idea! i choose sword juggling! i go first, you beat me, you're all free!' piedmon said, producing four swords. the two humans paused.

'...sword juggling? that sounds dangerous.'

'nonsense!' piedmon said, and threw the four swords into the air. tai and matt both winced when they landed.

'...you've cut your arms and legs off.' tai said.

'i think he knows, tai.' matt pointed out. piedmon simply looked in confusion at his stumps. luckily, since he was a digimon there was not any blood. tai approached, picked up a handkerchief, and carefully placed it on the keychain of his sister. as he had hoped, it restored her to normal. matt, tai, and kari quickly began turning the rest back as piedmon looked in confusion

'i don't even know how i managed it...' he muttered. then he realised the keychains had been restored and began thrashing and yelling.

'i will have my revenge! how dare you reverse my magic!'

'what are you going to do, bleed on us?' tai said.

'but he's not bleeding...' mimi pointed out. piedmon then grabbed one of his swords in his teeth. the digidestined and digimon decided to run just in case.

piedmon had been right that he would catch up, but the forests made it easy to lose sight. piedmon didn't take long in finding davis and flamedramon again. he saw the human running at full speed... into a tree. his digimon partner follwed straight after into the same tree, knocking them both out. piedmon burst out laughing.

'defeated by a tree! you newcomers are idiots!' he taunted the unconcious human and digimon as the tree they had hit began to fall over. piedmon ignored it and approached.

what he didn't realise was the tree fell onto another, which then fell, knocking another down. the domino chain of trees was heading right for one that would fall on a spot a few feet to the left of davis and flamedramon.

piedmon stood a few feet to the left of davis and flamedramon, smiling as he pulled the handkercheifs out. he ignored the falling trees.

'idiots...' he said, and was about to drop the handkercheifs when the tree landed on him.

davis awoke a few moments later, to see kari standing over him.

'whoa, it wasn't a dream...' he said.

'shut up for a second davis. what happened here?' kari said. davis sat up and looked at the collapsed trees.

'i dunno... last thing i remember was piedmon was chasing me and... wait, he turned you into a keychain!'

'i know. he must have been carrying me. i just turned back and found myself sitting by the tree. i guess we were both lucky not to get squashed as well...'

'as well?' davis asked. he turned and saw piedmon's legs sticking out from below the tree behind.

'oh. so we beat him with a tree and everyone else has turned back?' davis said.

'yep.'

'we were saved by trees. maybe greenpeace have a point...' davis noted.

cody and yolei had just arrived outside the shack.

'okay, what do we do now?' yolei asked.

'you heard izzy's plan...' cody replied.

'i don't like it though. what if he got this thing wrong?'

'what thing wrong?' someone else asked. yolei and cody turned to see piedmon standing behind them dangling hawkmon and armadillomon off one hand and another set of keyrings off the other.

'so you're the last two apart from joe and izzy, eh? well, i'd love to chat, but i hear you're loud and annoying.' piedmon said to yolei.

'what?! who told you that?!' yolei yelled, forgetting who had just said it to her. piedmon sighed and simply threw the two handkechiefs. cody and yolei both cringed. back in the real world, so did izzy

'oh wait, i've got the code wrong!' he said. yolei and cody already knew this, because they had just been turned into keychains. izzy sighed as joe arrived.

'i heard the others were in trouble. what's happened so far?' he asked.

'uh, everyone but you and me are keychains because my plan didn't work...' izzy said.

five minutes later, after swearing he had it right this time, joe, izzy, gomamon and tentomon were heading for the cabin. as before, the digimon were turned into keychains despite putting up a fight.

'you had better have got it right this time, izzy...' joe said.

'i did! i think.'

piedmon threw the hankercheifs

'oh, no, wait, that 1 should have been a 0....'

'izzy you moron!' joe yelled out as his last pre-keychain words.

the next day,piedmon began to attack other groups of digidestined. but it had been fun listening to the keychains he carried argue overnight. they were still all calling izzy all names under the sun for his mistake...
