“Oh you just look lovely Gina. All made up. Your uniform is pristine.”

“Thank you Ms. Severe. I’m Tina, though.” I held up a sign that I picked up at the check in desk that said “L1ttle Tina” to prove my claim.

“My Mistake LITTLE Tina.” Ms. Severe, our team chaperone, motioned for two female assistants. They knew what she wanted without being told. Each one took one of my arms and led me into the event space.

“Hi. Oh, this way. Ok. Thanks..” There was a thick wooden pole right in the middle of the space. We were heading directly toward it.

“Never ‘Thanks.’ Always ‘Thank YOU.” Ms. Severe instructed. I was lowered/pressed down into a seated position at the base of the pole. And I was confused.

“I’m sorry. What Miss?” The assistants tied my wrists together behind my back. Tightly! This was very strange.

“You’re welcome Gina!” Ms. Severe responded as though she hadn’t even heard my question.

“Thank you, Miss?” I asked unsure what I was supposed to say. My arms were tied together next. And then I was tied up against the pole.

“Yes. You cinched between her arms and her sides nicely. You also need to cinch right there between the post and her body. There. Yes. See how that ‘pinches’ it all together. Now she can’t slip around the post.” All of the ropes were constricting around me. I felt my uniform top stretch across my chest. Good thing for the spandex side panels they use in the mostly polyester uniform!

“Ms. Severe. What am I supposed to do?” As I finished the question, the assistants carefully inserted a rather large portion of clean cloth into my mouth.

“No one told you?” My mouth was then wrapped in a sticky but stretchy bandage holding the packing in my mouth and forcing my lips into a semi-pouty part.

“Mmppff.” I responded.

“Someone should have told you. This fundraiser is for a few VERY important donors. We’re holding an auction. So much fun! And all you have to do is smile and wink and be as friendly as you can be. You can do that can’t you?”

“Mmmm hhmmpp.”

“Just nod dear.”

I nodded.

“And just remember, when that gag comes out, it is always ‘Thank YOU’ and never just ‘THANKS.’ Very important donors. Very important…”

Ms Severe and the assistants trailed off and left me to entertain the guests. 😊
