Paul hadn’t eaten much but in fairness, neither had I. We were getting along well and it’s hard to talk while picking meat off of chicken bones.
“What’s that?” I asked in response to the silence.
“I didn’t ask..”. I interrupted him.
“You’re way too deep in thought and I unbuttoned a button like 5 minutes ago and you haven’t even noticed. So what is it?” Paul sighed.
“Ok. I think. We’re getting along really great. What was that bondage thing? I could tell he felt stupid asking as though he wasn’t even sure if said it.
“Nothing. I just said I’m really into it.” I crunched on a celery stick.
“Into it. Into bondage. You’re into bondage. That’s what you told me? What you said. On a first date.” Paul laughed and so did I.
“Yeah. It’s funny I guess because it’s uncommon, right.” I was really liking his smile.
“Totally different!” He said. “I mean, who just comes out with that before we even get our menus?” I faked a frown.
“Listen Paul. If you actually need a menu to order at a place like this, I JUST don’t think we have much of a chance.”
We laughed together again. Goodness. Laughing together is one of the best things. 😊
