I don’t want to wear folks out with too much prologue. I want to get right into discussing this really special and powerful bondage art. But I think I simply have to provide some context not only because I think it will make this more interesting to read but also to do justice to the artist and the relationship he and I have.
@Crab-Hermit and I started chatting something like last January. Basically, as soon as I started posting to my gallery and making an effort to be more than a Deviant Art “lurker.” And right off that bat, we clicked. He understood and appreciated my story-telling voice and I was captivated (see what I did there….cause….BONDAGE) by his unique style of drawling damsels and the intense and dominant elements of the bondage he put them in. It wasn’t long before we were collaborating on stories and art pieces. And Crabby even helps me come up with designs and testing of new self-bondage rigs for me to play in and write about. The suspended hogtie that he helped me create and write about is one of the best things I’ve done with the air mats. It’s one of my favorite bondage reports that I’ve written. And Crab even used it in this freaking hot image he created for our ongoing story, Tina’s Valentines Day Surprise (chapter 3).
(I don’t like to curse, but fucking fuck, tell me this isn’t hot as shit. Go on, and I’ll call you a liar. Lol!)
Anyway, this past year I’ve been so busy meeting people, writing stories with different folks, enjoying art and stories y’all are posting, and also living in the real world, I never went back into Crab’s gallery to look at any of his older stuff. My God was I missing out! Y’all, there’s one gem after another in there.
So, Crab and I were chatting. And one of the things I freaking love about Crab is that we can be all casual talking about what we had for lunch or whatever, and he can flip a switch and go “all Dom” and before I know it I’m putting on handcuffs and a ball gag to finish our conversation. I’m honestly getting bothered thinking about the excitement I feel when from out of nowhere I’m being told to spend two hours in total sensory deprivation with my wand on high. He never insists on things being done right then and there, which I think is why we’ve had such a sustainable kinky friendship because that is respectful of the requirements of both of our real lives. But his directions always come with an authority and a confidence that is breathtaking. I wouldn’t DARE fail to complete a task that he grants me in such a moment.
And besides, some of my most important self-discovery over this past year have come directly from Crab’s surprise, spontaneous demands of my submission. PS. I swear, this is a very small percentage of our chatting. Like 99% of the time we just chat or brainstorm art and story ideas.
I really hope I’m describing this understandably, but regardless, I’m going on to the art I want (was told) to spotlight.
This one. This one right here. This is quintessential Crab-Hermit. Everything he creates is unique and powerful and personal. He spends weeks (or longer) on every work. He gets to know his model. Her turn ons. Her limits. How she feels she’d react to the bondage and the scene. All of that influences how he draws the damsel. And he doesn’t just draw a girl tied up for no reason (as if you need a reason! LOL). He always has a line or two that sets a scene. But it’s just a basic prompt that the viewer can run with and form their own narrative around or from. It’s a really cool way of presenting his images and it’s influenced me in the way I like to sometimes hijack other people’s art and create lengthy “one-shot” narratives in their comments section. If you don’t like my lengthy comments, now you know you can blame Crab. Bad old Crab.
But he does something else too. He adds personal touches that are kind of inside jokes between himself and the model. Little touches like the “F Me” gag on this damsel. That was a personal tribute to the real girl Crab really chatted with online who was the model for this and several other great images he created. I really should say “THEY” created, because even though Crab’s models don’t put pen to paper, he distills the submissive spirit, or the feisty struggles, or the lust….whatever he needs from them to create images for them that they can experience and be empowered by.
No for the actual drawing. Crab consistently draws these damsels in their idealized restrained feminine forms. The subject of this image, “J,” is portrayed with flawless skin, perfect curves, stylish/fun hair, and absolutely sparkling eyes. And I’m going to pause. I fucking love how Crab gives me curves when he draws me. If anything, I’m chiseled in real life, and if I’m being totally honest, I’d go so far as to say I’m flat in a lot of areas. Now check out J. There isn’t a straight line depicted on her! There isn’t a part of her body you wouldn’t want wrapped around you or to wrap yourself around. I can actually feel the soft but taught resistance her flesh would give as I explore her bound legs. I can imagine rolling her over onto her back and sprawling out on her firm and smooth belly. I can’t stop smiling thinking about “writing my name” with my nose on the warm skin between her perky boobs. See how Crab has her ass rising up into the air? Oh that ass. He must have used a protractor to make her cheeks such perfect circles. I’m giving to believe her hips are rising up and down just for me. J is reacting to my weight against her body. Her limbs helplessly restrained, there nothing else for her to do but writhe in response to my touch. The smell of my hair which drapes across her face intoxicating her. Making her mine.
This is what Crab gives us, the viewers of his art, every time he publishes a work. And what he give his models is much more. It’s pure fantasy. It’s heaven.
You know me so you know I have to spout off some technical aspects of the rigging. Crab nails it. His rope work is actually as idealized as his damsels’ figures. J’s elbows are pulled together almost impossibly tight. At least for a women who isn’t a stick figure. And even if J truly has this luxuriously perfect body and could still pull her arms all the way back like that, the ropes would HAVE to be cutting deeply into her flesh to hold them in place. And that’s where Crab takes some creative license with the laws of physics. He draws the rigging with a dominant and prefect layering of nearly countless loops of ropes, all lined up with the precision of an engineer, not gaps, totally parallel to the next one. This precision is impossible to achieve in real life but it’s essential to portray the sense of utter helplessness without it being an oppressive, uncomfortable experience.
And this is an indulgence for J. This is what she wants. That much is evident from her body language. But there is also something deeper involved. Her eyes are so expressive, making up for the emotions concealed by her gag. As a viewer, we can each imagine what her eyes are saying. But as for me, I think they’re asking a question. “Is this what you wanted?” She’s asking Crab that question which isn’t really a question. She knows this is what Crab wanted. They’d been working on this image together for weeks in all likelihood. Crab wouldn’t be publishing this if it wasn’t what he wanted. J isn’t really asking the question of Crab. She’s asking it of herself. Again, just my interpretations. But I sense a resistance in J. I sense a hesitation in her to let go and be dominated and to be the submissive she longs to be. I know I’m projecting my own insecurities on the image but that’s what art is for to an extent, so I’m doing it. Lol.
I have a lot of other details I’d like to mention but I have to get to church, and I want to publish this first. (No seriously, I go to church a ton!). Actually, I can’t resist. Here’s one more. I love how Crab draws the damsels joints so petitely and their hands and feet slightly larger than is realistically proportional. Did you now you do that Crab? Fun fact. Some of the most successful body builders are shorter (5’6” of so) because they have smaller/more narrow joints proportional to the bulk of the muscles that they can achieve. This creates the illusion that they have more size and greater definition than a taller body builder with thicker joints. By giving his damsels smaller joints, Crab blesses his damsels with more elegant, feminine curves. And the curves, along with the slightly larger hands and feet, cause the ropes to that much tighter on her body. There’s no way she can slip a knee loop over her curvy thigh, no matter how smooth her flesh is. It’s impossible for her to pull her hand through the cinched cords wrapping her tiny wrists. Using these proportions, Crab is able to portray complete and total bondage perfection without the ropes needing to be the dominant element of the image. The rigging can be more subdued and the damsels form can be highlighted. The position of her legs. If she’s leaning at her waist, looking for slack. If she’s grinding on a crotch rope. If her head is held fast by a thick posture collar. If her breasts are being teased by freshly applied, cold metal clamps. These details can take more prominence than the ropework while the ropework is still crushingly effective, all because Crab draws these girls’ bodies as though their bodies were fucking made to be bound.
I wish I could go on more and more because I just love Crab’s work so much and I adore working WITH him. He knows that but he deserves to have me publish it and I’m terribly delinquent in only doing so now. We’re going to do a lot more work together, I’m sure. So I’ll share more with you next time. I’m going to go get ready for church now and pray for forgiveness for all of the mental sins I’ve been committing while writing this report. 😊
Love you all! XOXOX!
