Emily loved exploring the forest near her house. The towering trees, the rustling leaves, and the chirping of birds made her feel like she was in a magical world. One sunny afternoon, she decided to venture deeper into the woods than she had ever gone before. As she walked, she discovered a small clearing with a single metal pole standing in the center.
Curious, Emily approached the pole. It seemed out of place in the natural surroundings, almost as if it had been forgotten there long ago. Without thinking, she reached out and touched it. Instantly, a strange sensation coursed through her arm, like electricity but not quite painful. She tried to pull her hand away, but it was too late. Her arm began to transform, turning into cold, hard chains that wrapped around the pole.
Panic set in as she watched the transformation spread from her arm to the rest of her body. Her legs fused together, forming the seat of a swing. Her other arm and her torso continued to change, becoming part of the swing’s structure. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. In moments, Emily was completely transformed into a swing hanging from the pole.
Her mind grew hazy, her memories of being a girl fading like a dream upon waking. All that remained was a vague sense of existence as a swing. She felt the wind gently swaying her back and forth, the metal creaking softly with each movement. The forest around her was no longer a place to explore but her home, her purpose.
Years passed, and the swing remained in the clearing. Children from the nearby village would sometimes wander into the forest and discover it. They would take turns sitting on the swing, laughing and playing. Emily, now fully the swing, found joy in their laughter, though she didn’t understand why. She only knew she was happy to be used, to fulfill her purpose.
Seasons changed, and the swing endured the heat of summer, the chill of winter, the blossoms of spring, and the falling leaves of autumn. Each day was the same, yet each day was different, with new children and new laughter. She never questioned her existence, never wondered about the girl she had once been. She was a swing, and that was all she had ever known.
