(This story is a direct sequel of the previous one here).
"I was thinking, Emily" Sofia said at some point, swinging the stick to which Jane was attached and fanning herself with her flattened body "how come you didn't manage to spot the trap earlier?"
"N-Not all character abilities work every time, sometimes they can fail" Emily replied, clearly uncomfortable interacting with Sofia without Jane's support.
"Ah... but wait, didn’t you say that you and Carla created this... thing together? Don’t you already know where all the traps are??" Sofia suddenly exclaimed, positioning herself directly in front of Emily, who instinctively tried to make herself as small as possible.
"Y-yes... but i-it wouldn’t be fair if I told you everything, so I try to a-act as if I don’t know anything..." Emily responded in a barely audible voice. Sofia observed Emily for a moment, then said: "Well yeah, it would be like cheating... You're right" Emily let out a huge sigh of relief, then felt a pat on her back.
"I’m counting on you then, trap-finder" Sofia said in an encouraging tone. Emily nodded and began advancing with more determination.
Shortly after, the two girls encountered the first real obstacle in their path: the floor in front of them broke off, revealing a chasm that spanned the entire width of the corridor, about ten meters long (from the perspective of the shrunken girls, of course), with sharp spikes at the bottom. On both sides of the chasm lied the remains of a collapsed wooden bridge, and it didn't seem like there was an easy way to cross it.
Anticipating Sofia's question, Emily said: "Don't worry, the spikes are made of foam, but falling down means GAME OVER" "Got it" Sofia replied, studying the other side of the chasm "And I don't think I can jump directly to the other side. What do we do?" she asked, crossing her arms and looking at Emily.
"I-in these cases, you usually look around for some clues" Emily replied, uncomfortable under Sofia's inquisitive gaze. "Okay okay, you can’t give me the solution, so it’s up to me... What about these strange marks on the wall?" Sofia asked, pointing to some writings in an unknown alphabet painted in black on one of the walls.
"Exactly" Emily said, relieved "Usually, it's the wizard who knows ancient languages, so..." she continued, timidly pointing at Jane's body, squashed at the end of the stick Sofia was holding.
"Oh, right" Sofia replied, as if only now remembering poor Jane. She fiddled briefly with the girl's body and removed her hat, revealing her face in the center of her circular body, with a not-so-pleased expression.
"Wizard, translate these magical words for us" Sofia intoned solemnly, holding the stick with both hands and bringing Jane’s body as close as possible to the wall. "I'm just a fan" Jane responded in a flat, extremely irritated voice, pouting. "Fans don't know ancient languages."
Emily gathered her courage and said, "W-we should turn her back to normal, right? We’ll need her help to move forward..." Sofia seemed to think for a moment, glancing between the writing on the wall and the collapsed bridge. Finally, she nodded and began separating Jane’s body from the stick, silently. After a short time, Jane’s body was back to normal: the girl was adjusting her long robe, occasionally shooting glares at Sofia, who, in contrast, was facing away from both girls.
"Sorry, Jane, I tried to..." Emily awkwardly stepped towards Jane, but the girl stopped her by gently patting her head.
"Don’t worry, I heard everything. Master" Jane called out, her voice directed upward "I’ll try to read the inscription on the wall." After a few seconds, Carla’s voice responded: "It’s a very crude alphabet used by some humanoid tribes, like goblins. You're not an expert, but you know enough to understand that the writing roughly means -Press for rope-"
Indeed, Jane noticed that one of the tiles beneath the writing was slightly raised, almost as if it were a button to press.
"This tile looks different from the others. I’ll try pressing it" Jane said. It sunk completely into the wall, leaving a hole, and Jane immediately felt a strong force pulling her inside, first her arm, then the upper part of her body, until Jane disappeared entirely into the opening, her staff clattering noisily to the ground. The tile returned to its place, covering the hole before Sofia or Emily had time to react.
Strange sounds, like those of a mechanism, were heard beyond the wall, and a few seconds later, a small tube emerged from the gaps between the tiles. Sofia reacted instinctively, fearing another trap, grabbing Emily and moving away from the wall. But from the tube, only what appeared to be a rope began to emerge, piling up on the ground beneath it.
The rope was as thick as the tube from which it was coming out and seemed to be made of a malleable material, colored in sections of pink, blue, and black. When it finally finished emerging, about ten meters of that strange material had accumulated on the floor.
Sofia approached to grab the strange rope, and a brief glance confirmed her suspicions: it was none other than Jane’s body, compressed and stretched to form the rope they needed.
"Well, I’d say now we can cross the chasm" Sofia said to Emily. The monk approached one of the wooden stakes of the broken bridge and tied one end of Jane to it. Then, she made a lasso with the other end, and after a few failed attempts, managed to throw it to the other side of the chasm, looping it around one of the wooden stakes of the bridge. After a bit of adjusting, rope-Jane was taut and connected both sides of the chasm, allowing them to cross.
"All done: are you going first, or should I?" Sofia asked Emily, who in response lowered her gaze to the ground and replied: "Uhm... I don’t think I’m able to walk on a rope..."
Sofia approached Emily and placed a hand on her head, as if to pet her. "Don’t worry, little one, I’ll take care of it. Ready?" she said, catching Emily by surprise, who suddenly blushed. "Huh? Wha..."
SQUISH! Sofia pressed her hand onto Emily’s head, compressing her body vertically until she was only a few dozen centimeters tall, leaving her body still vaguely humanoid but deformed as if she were made of clay. Without wasting time, Sofia picked up what Emily had become and forcefully balled her up until Emily’s body was compressed to the size and shape of a baseball. Finally, she safely tucked her inside her enormous cleavage.
"If you want a more comfortable spot next time, make sure to get me a dress with pockets" Sofia muttered, checking her almost non-existent clothes, while squishing her boobs together to ensure Emily was securely nestled between them.
Remained alone, Sofia picked up Jane's staff from the ground and approached the chasm. She took a deep breath and placed one foot on the rope. Then, she put the other foot on it as well, holding the staff horizontally in front of her to help keep her balance, like a circus tightrope walker, suspended over the void.
Step by step, Sofia moved to the middle of the chasm, with only Jane's stretched-out body preventing a disastrous fall. Beads of sweat began to trickle down her forehead, but Sofia persisted, continuing to put one foot in front of the other, making her way forward. Before long, she successfully reached the other side, celebrating with a silent gesture of triumph. "With balance refined by years of training, the monk crossed the chasm unharmed" Carla's voice remarked.
Wasting no time, Sofia pulled the rope upward, managing to slip Jane's stretched-out body off the wooden stake on the opposite side, then untied it from the stake on her side of the chasm as well. She began to roll up the rope until Jane's body, coiled multiple times over itself, hung from her shoulder, ready to be carried. "You might come in handy later in this form" she muttered to herself, avoiding speaking directly to rope-Jane. "After all, I can make it through this place on my own"
After checking that Emily was still safely squashed between her boobs, Sofia continued down the corridor.
After a few steps, though, she stopped, her expression conflicted. She stood still for a few seconds, then suddenly exclaimed: "Ah, to hell with it!" With a swift motion, she pulled Emily's body out from her cleavage, which at that point was nothing more than a black, compressed, and shapeless blob, without any distinguishing features. It took Sofia a while, but after a few minutes, she managed to return Emily's body to its original form.
"Wha-What happened?" Emily said, still looking confused. "Are we on the other side?" "Yes, now help me get Jane back to normal, hurry up!" Sofia ordered, laying the wizard's elongated body on the ground. Emily promptly obeyed, and despite the challenge, the two girls eventually managed to restore Jane to her original form.
After a moment of disorientation, Jane looked around and realized that all three of them had successfully crossed the chasm. "Did you bring us to the other side?" Jane asked Sofia, who nodded in response. "So?" Jane continued, crossing her arms with a frown. "Did you turn me back to normal because there's another inscription to translate?"
Sofia began walking down the corridor, turning her back on Jane. "No, I just thought I might need your help to continue" she finally replied. "Come on, let's go already!"
Jane was momentarily taken aback, then her expression softened, and she followed Sofia. "Thanks for getting me to the other side and for turning me back to normal, then" she said, receiving only a simple grunt in response from Sofia.
Emily had followed the conversation in silence, and after watching them, she trotted behind them to catch up and join the front of the group.
************************************************************************************
"Another dead end..." Emily announced, turning the corner and seeing the wall in front of her. After crossing the chasm, the group had started encountering a series of forks, which led them down several dead-end paths. Since the first fork, Jane had pulled a book from her gear and was holding it open in her hands, quietly writing on it as they walked. She hadn't said a word for a while, merely following the other two girls passively.
Sofia, on the other hand, was clearly exasperated by the situation. "Again? This must be the fifth time!" she exclaimed, walking up to the wall that blocked their path, clenching her fist and slamming it into her open palm. "Maybe we could get through if I knocked this wall down..."
"W-Wait!" Emily shouted in her thin voice, grabbing Sofia’s arm with both hands and pulling her back, stopping her just before she could take another step.
"Huh? What do you want?!" Sofia snapped at Emily, who managed to resist the urge to run and hide behind Jane, and instead replied: "Y-You were about to trigger another trap..." Emily's voice was barely audible, but her arm was pointing at the tile in front of Sofia, which, upon closer inspection, was indeed slightly raised compared to the others.
"Oh..." Sofia shifted her accusatory gaze away from Emily, and finally added, somewhat embarrassed: "Well, thanks, I didn’t notice it." "N-No problem..." Emily responded, and an awkward silence fell between the two girls.
"By the way" Sofia resumed suddenly, quickly approaching Emily and grabbing her slender arm, examining it "are you sure you’re getting enough exercise? Even with both hands, you barely managed to stop me." "E-Eh?" Emily stammered, surprised. "I usually spend most of the time at h-home..."
"What? You don’t want to end up like my sloth of a sister, do you?" Sofia said. "At your age, it’s important to stay active! If you want, I can give you some tips at the gym in the next few days, what do you think?" Once again, Emily felt the urge to run away from Sofia, this time more due to her enthusiasm than her usual aggressive demeanor.
"Eureka!" Jane suddenly exclaimed, drawing the two girls' attention and relieving Emily from her predicament. "With this last dead end, I’ve mapped out the labyrinth!" she continued, showing the other girls the page of the book she had been writing so far.
On it were several paths drawn, some only scribbled, others crossed out, with one particular drawing standing out from the rest, as it was circled multiple times and, most importantly, complete. "We are here" Jane pointed to a dead-end path in the corner of the drawing "this is the entrance, and if we follow this path, we should reach the exit at the opposite end."
"Wow, well done, Jane!" Emily praised, impressed. "I didn’t think you’d be able to solve it so quickly" Jane adjusted her glasses on her face. "Well, these kinds of puzzles are my specialty, after all."
"Nice work" Sofia commented, starting to walk "Let’s go, lead the way."
As they walked through the labyrinth with confidence following Jane’s drawn map, the silence fell over the group of adventurers. Eventually, Jane broke the silence: "Emily, I need to ask you something. I’ve seen that my spells are listed in my magic book, but how do they... work? How do I cast magic?" she asked, gesturing with the staff in her hand.
"Carla and I built holographic systems installed in the walls to simulate spell casting... Actually, that’s what took the most time during the construction" Emily explained. "Oh, really? Let me try something out" Jane said, intrigued. "Master, I cast Dancing Lights!"
The wizard raised her staff high, and its tip lit up with a bluish light. Moments later, a glowing orb of the same color appeared above their heads, following their movements and illuminating the corridor even more. "Wow, impressive!" Jane remarked, while Sofia, unimpressed, resumed moving forward, keeping an eye out for any more traps along their path.
"And what about monsters?" Jane asked Emily again. "Will there be any combat in this adventure?"
"Of course!" This time, it was Carla's disembodied voice that responded, without the usual solemn narrator tone, but with a nearly childlike enthusiasm. "What would a D&D adventure be without combat? We’ve created small robots capable of being controlled remotely and also moving autonomously, albeit in a limited way. No spoilers, of course, but I think you’ll be meeting them soon..."
With almost theatrical timing, the girls began hearing noises ahead of them, and turning the corner, they found themselves in a room much larger than the others, wider than the corridor they had come from, and several dozen meters long. The ceiling was also higher compared to the corridors they had seen so far. Various crates and other objects occupied the room, but most notably, in the center of it, a group of about ten goblins were lounging around a campfire, along with a creature significantly larger, probably an ogre.
The goblins were just a little shorter than the girls, while the ogre towered over the rest of the monsters, standing more than twice their height.
The monsters noticed the adventurers, grabbed their weapons from the ground, and began standing up to charge at them. Sofia prepared to rush in their direction, eager for a good brawl, but "Stop, Sofia!" Jane ordered firmly, halting the monk's dash before it could begin. "Master, I cast Fireball!"
A fiery red orb shot from the wizard's staff, quickly heading towards the group of goblins, who hadn’t yet had time to scatter. When it reached the center of the group, BOOM!!! a violent explosion of fire and flames engulfed the monsters, throwing them back with the force of the impact.
"Wow, not bad at all!" Sofia exclaimed, admiring the spectacle from a safe distance. Most of the monsters lay motionless on the ground, with only a few goblins trying to get back up, while the ogre seemed to be the only one who had withstood the blast.
Jane, fully focused on the battle, instructed: "It's not over yet: Sofia, go finish off the few survivors. Emily, hide among the debris and see if you can land a few sneak attacks. I'll stay in the backlines. Once we've taken care of the small fry, we'll deal with the big one." Jane gave her commands decisively, adjusting her glasses on her face.
"On it, boss!" Sofia shouted, pumped up, cracking her knuckles before finally sprinting towards the remaining goblins. They tried to attack the monk as she charged at them with fury, but they were no match for her. With well-placed kicks and punches, Sofia sent the goblins flying and back to the ground, motionless. One last goblin had sneaked up behind Sofia to catch her off guard, but he was struck from behind by a bolt fired by Emily, who had taken cover behind a wooden crate, holding her crossbow in hand.
The ogre, left alone and apparently unarmed, roared in fury at the defeat of his allies and approached the wall, pressing a tile that sank like a button. Behind Emily, a section of the wall lifted, revealing a smooth incline like a slide, with a massive boulder rolling at full speed towards the room.
"Emily, watch out behind you!" Jane tried to warn her, but it was too late. SPLAT! The boulder shot out of the wall opening and mercilessly ran over the small rogue, flattening her instantly against the floor, before continuing its path across the room and slamming into the opposite wall, right next to the ogre. Sofia had narrowly avoided the same fate of Emily by dodging to the side just in time.
Jane ran towards Emily, who was now squished on the ground with her arms and legs spread out in an X-shape, her entire body compressed to only a few centimeters thick. Dressed completely in black, she could easily be mistaken for a piece of vaguely humanoid black fabric lying on the ground.
Jane lifted her by the head, Emily's flattened, thin body swaying with every movement. Emily's face was frozen in shock, her eyes wide open, clearly knocked out of the fight. "Emily will be out of commission for a while" Jane thought.
She rolled up her body like a scroll, turning her into a small black tube, and hid her behind some debris. "You'll be safe and hidden here until you recover."
Meanwhile, Sofia was curiously inspecting the boulder, noticing how it had slightly deformed upon the impact with the wall. The more she looked, the less it seemed like a normal boulder: its surface was covered with strange designs and colors that almost looked like... a face? "Wait... Could it be... Mom??" Sofia exclaimed in disbelief, approaching it.
The boulder was, in fact, none other than Layla's body, compressed into a spherical shape about twice the size of the shrunken girls. As often happened to the curvy woman when she was compressed, a large portion of the sphere's surface was made up of her large boobs and her enormous ass, with the rest of her body barely visible in comparison. Her hands stuck out from the sides of the sphere, while her face, partially obscured by her cleavage, displayed an expression of extreme confusion.
Sofia also noticed that Layla didn't seem to be wearing her usual clothes, but rather some kind of white dress, although it was hard to tell for sure given the situation.
Sofia didn’t have much time to observe her mother's body, though, because the ogre stepped between them, intending to crush her underfoot. Sofia was quick to react, jumping backward and easily dodging an impact that would have undoubtedly flattened her like a pancake.
Without wasting any time, Sofia tried several times to approach the massive enemy to attack, but the ogre's stomps and attempts to grab her forced her to retreat each time. "Sofia, fall back! We need a strategy!" Jane shouted from the backlines. Reluctantly, Sofia had no choice but to follow Jane's orders, slowly retreating toward the wizard. Fortunately, the ogre didn’t seem keen on following her.
As Jane updated Sofia on Emily's status, the ogre (or rather, Carla, who was directly controlling it) had an idea and moved toward the boulder-Layla that was leaning against the wall, roughly the same size as the monster. After the fireball explosion, the ogre's weapon had been destroyed, and it needed a replacement. The ogre began manipulating the spherical body of Layla, deforming it with its massive hands until it achieved the desired shape.
Layla had now taken the form of a giant warhammer, sized appropriately for the ogre to wield. The handle was formed from her elongated and thinned arms and legs, while the rest of her body made up the two striking ends of the hammerhead.
One side was entirely composed of her enormous ass, while the other side displayed her equally large boobs, both squished and shaped into the rigid, blunt forms necessary for the weapon. Her face was visible on the top of the hammerhead, still wearing an expression of complete confusion and clearly out of commission.
Meanwhile, Jane and Sofia had regrouped and were ready to attack again. Sofia began running toward the ogre: at first glance, the monk seemed like an easy target for the monster's new weapon, but Jane simultaneously shouted: "Master, I cast Magic Missile!"
Three violet darts shot from the wizard's staff, flying past the charging monk and hitting the ogre square in the face, making it stagger backward. Sofia took advantage of the opening created by her companion and delivered a punch straight to the enemy's abdomen, but STOMP! The ogre recovered from the stagger by slamming its massive foot into the ground with such force that the ground trembled, almost causing Sofia to lose her balance. She had to stop her advance to avoid falling.
However, this gave the ogre enough time to bring the warhammer down with all its strength toward the monk, who instinctively raised her hands to protect herself.
SMASH!!!!
The ogre’s hammer struck Sofia squarely, who was mercilessly squashed by the blow, but the weapon hadn't completely hit the ground. Sofia’s body wasn’t entirely flattened, as she managed to retain a thickness of about ten centimeters, resembling a pink cushion between the hammer and the floor.
When the ogre lifted the hammer, Sofia had been compressed into a small cylinder. Thanks to her slowing down the impact with her bare hands, she had maintained a limited thickness instead of being completely flattened into a thin pancake. The top of the cylinder displayed Sofia's face, frozen in a determined expression, while part of her boobs peeps out under it. The rest of her body was visible, although very compressed, along the remaining few centimeters of thickness of the cylindrical shape.
However, as soon as the ogre attempted to pick up Sofia’s body, SPROING! she stretched upwards, revealing the rest of her body, still compressed into a cylindrical but serrated shape. Her arms were pinned to her sides, the upper half nearly entirely taken up by her boobs (still covered by her wraps of bandages), and the lower half made up of her bare legs.
After stretching, Sofia’s body recoiled, compressing, and then expanded again, bouncing back and forth like an accordion, complete with its characteristic sound. The ogre froze for a moment as Carla, safe in her room, was laughing uncontrollably.
Once the ogre regained focus, it temporarily left the newly-formed musical instrument in its cycle of compression and extension and turned its attention to finding the other two adventurers. Scanning the room, there was no sign of the rogue who had been flattened by the boulder, but a corner of the wizard’s robe peeked out from behind one of the crates.
"The rogue passes the Stealth check..." the Dungeon Master intoned solemnly, her voice echoing throughout the room as the ogre approached the wizard's hiding spot "...but the wizard definitely does NOT!" she concluded, as the ogre slammed the Layla-hammer toward the helpless wizard.
SMASH!!!!
*******************************************
A short while later, the ogre was making its way down the corridor at the far end of the room, at the opposite side from where the adventurers had entered. On its back, it carried its trusty warhammer, composed of Layla’s deformed body, her expression still dizzy. At its waist, the ogre sported its latest trophy: an extremely thin disk displaying the top of Jane’s wizard hat on one side and the bottom of a blue robe and shoe soles on the other.
Most notably, though, the ogre held Sofia’s body in its hands, just like an accordion. One hand grasped the end with her face, and the other held the end with her bare feet. In a vain attempt to play a melody with the off-tune sounds that emerged from the impromptu instrument, the ogre continuously compressed, expanded, squeezed and elongated Sofia’s body, but no method seemed to improve the sound.
Meanwhile, back in the room, Emily had managed to return to her normal form. From her hiding spot, she watched as the gigantic monster carried off her companions, leaving her completely alone.
Everything was now in her hands. Could she save her fellow adventurers?
