“Whats your name, lad?”
“Robin, Sir! Robin Locksley!”
“Take that hood off, Robin, will you?”
“Oh, yes, Sir, sorry, Sir.”
“And call me sergeant, not sir.”
“Yes, sir, aaah, I mean sergeant.”
“Well, can you use this bow on your back?”
“Sure, I am the best archer of the whole Sherwood forest!”
“Aaahhh… well. And you want to join Nottingham Bowman Regiment?”
“Yes. I heard there will be a big crusade against the Dark Empire in coming summer. I want to kill some filthy vampire sluts.”
“I see. Fine, pay is 5 golden Reichsmark a month, drink and provision is free. Make a cross here. No! Here!”
“Oh, sorry. Yes, sergeant.”
“You are right, lad. There will be a crusade against the Kver. And now you will be one of the crusaders.”
“Great!”

“Attention, the Death Dancer of the Dark Empress!” the pupil of the watch announced, her ears moving about in agitation.
Every movement in the hall came to a standstill. The pupils turned as one woman to the entrance and bowed their heads. Ears were swiveling nervously.
The Death Dancer bowed too, then entered the room. She headed directly for Shea Shu Shir.
Shea managed to control her ears, they didn’t move a fraction of an inch. She looked up into the Death Dancer´s face.
Tall the Dancer was, and blonde, like a male of the humans to the far West. Even her eyes were blue like the summer sky.
“Pupil.”
“Dancer.”
“Its said you are the best fighter of the school. Is it true?”
“Yes, Dancer.”
“It is also said, at the day of your birth, you managed to leave the egg all on your own.”
“That’s true too, Dancer.”
“We will meet with swords.”
“As you wish.”
The other pupils quickly formed a wide circle. Shea heard the teachers enter the hall, but didn’t turn to greet them. Her eyes were on the dancer.
Another pupil gave Shea the two swords, retreated backwards.
The Dancer drew her swords from behind her back.
Their eyes, of pupil and Dancer, were locked all the time.
Shea felt calm. She was a feather in a block of ice. She attacked first. The Dancer naturally only played with her, would she had danced, Shea would have been dead before the blades could have crossed a single time.
Blades crossed 10 times. She couldn’t break the defense. Blades crossed 10 times more.
The Dancer attacked, the roles reversed. Blades crossed seven times. On the seventh meeting, the left hand blade of the Dancer severed Sheas right hip.
The girl cried shrill in pain and went down.
The Dancer cleaned the weapon with a silken towel. The pupils started to hit their left shoulders with their right fists. The teachers did likewise. Never before a pupil had hold out through seven blade crossings against the Dancer.
Shea was on her knees, pressing both hands on her hip, blue blood running over her white fingers. The pain was very strong. She couldn’t stop screaming. The wound was not immediately deadly, so she would be magically healed only in an hour. Living with the pain was part of training. The coming officers of ZAHAL were not pampered at this school.
The Dancer sheeted her weapons and applauded too, before turning and leaving the hall.
