5th May 2013, near the Israeli- Egyptian Sinai border, 2.50 AM
She woke up with a headache. Groaning, she killed her beeping iphone and managed to get into a sitting position. It was still dark outside. The lamps were burning in the room.
Her first grip was for her cigarettes. She mouthed a Marlboro and lit up, taking a first deep drag.
Coughing, she rose and took up her uniform. After donning it and slipping into the boots, she headed out of the room.
In the command center, everyone was busy. No one snapped to attention or saluted as she entered, this was Tsahal and no kindergarden.
CNN was running on a monitor. Several men and women had gathered around it. She approached them, someone gave her a mug of coffee.
Alternately drinking the stuff and smoking, she listened to the news.
“PRC claims to have sunk the US carriers DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER and CARL VINSON in the Straits of Taiwan, and having damaged several other carriers. A US Navy spokesman declined to comment.
In Europe, heavy street fighting in Warsaw, while Russian armored spearheads have apparently reached the Oder river, border between Poland and Germany.  
The cyber attack by Shanghai pact on NATO is still taking its effects.
Meanwhile, sources in the Middle East told CNN that the deployment of Arab forces near the Israeli border continues…”
“Mam?”
She turned.
“A dispatch from Ramatkal.”
She took the message and read:
“Operation SAFIULLAH scheduled for tomorrow, 0600 hours -  Carry out MEIR -  X-time unchanged – Acknowledge order.”
Moshe, her deputy, turned to her and asked:
“Is it MEIR?”
Tamar Zuckerman, commander of 366th Amud Ha Esh, just nodded.
