Tales Of The Wand
#14 – The Waiting…
by JMD
“A week!” Lisa shouted at the two women sitting on the bed in front of her. “You left us on that damned mantle for a whole week!”
“Actually, it was only…” Anne stopped at Lisa’s killer glare. “Sorry. You were saying? A week…”
Lisa held the glare for another couple of beats before starting back. “The better part of a week. How could you do that to me and Chris?”
Anne and Rachel shared a look and a shrug. “We were busy?” Anne offered sheepishly.
“Busy?” Lisa adopted a scolding look. “And just what were you busy doing?”
“Well, first…” Rachel started.
Lisa held up her hand. “I don’t really need a blow by blow.”
“Oh, yeah,” Rachel grinned. “We definitely did that one.”
Lisa winced.
“Too much?” Rachel asked innocently. “In that case, let’s just say we were having fun with the wand. That sound right to you, Annie?”
Anne’s cheek’s turned bright red, though she couldn’t help but smile. “Yeah,” she commented. “Fun.”
“I bet,” Lisa said with a slight shake of her head. “I can just imagine the fun you two were having.”
“Bet you can’t.” Lisa glared at her, but Rachel remained unfazed. She wiggled her eyebrows at her in the classic Groucho Marx style to show it.
“Rach…” Anne cautioned.
“No,” Lisa stopped her. “She’s right. I probably can’t… and REALLY don’t want to… imagine what she came up with that weird mind of hers.” She locked eyes with her husband’s cousin. “Chris has told me about all the times he’s had to bail you out of trouble.”
Rachel shrugged her shoulders with a not-so-innocent innocent expression. “What can I say? He loves me.”
“Well, guess what. He loves me, too.” Lisa leaned closer with her own not-so-innocent look. “So, I wouldn’t count on him bailing you out of this one if I was you.” Her smile turned into a grin as Rachel pulled back, her defiant expression faltering.
“Where is Chris?” Anne asked, hoping to ease the tension.
“Working,” Lisa answered curtly. “Your little stunt has put him way behind on his writing. The deadline on his next novel isn’t that far off, you know.”
“Yeah,” Anne admitted. “I didn’t think about that.”
“If you ask me,” Lisa told her, “you didn’t think about a lot of things. Have you even been to work this week?”
“Um… used my vacation.”
“Well,” Lisa fumed, “I hope you’ve got enough to cover another week, because you’re going to be…” She paused a moment for emphasis as she pulled the wand from the pocket of her robe. “…busy.”
Rachel regained some of her defiance. “What are you going to do to us?” she challenged.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
Rachel opened her mouth to answer. Before she could, however, Lisa hit her on the head with the tip of the wand. With a flash, the young woman’s robe dropped onto the mattress as she was changed by its powerful magic.
Anne turned to see what had become of her playmate, but the girl’s robe hid her from view. She reached to push it aside but had barely moved when she felt the wand hit her own head. A second later, she had collapsed into her own robe.
With a satisfied nod, Lisa reached out and opened the top of each robe, inspecting her work. She took a few moments, looking back and forth between the two. “That works,” she said to herself. Moving back a step, she reached out with the wand and tapped into the collar of Rachel’s robe.
With another flash, Rachel found herself returned to normal, though her robe didn’t fit properly. As she worked to right it, she looked over, hoping to get a glance at what Anne had become. But she was too late. Lisa had already used the wand to restore her cousin, who was struggling inside her own dislocated robe.
Lisa, for her part, had turned and was headed for the door. “Okay, ladies. That’s it for now. I’ll be back later to pick you up.”
“You’re not going to tell us what you did?” Rachel asked, a slight tone of frustration in her voice.
Lisa turned at the door and turned back. “Nope,” she grinned. “That’s for me to know, and you to find out.” She paused as her grin widened. “In twelve hours.”
“Come on, Lisa,” Anne pleaded. “At least give us a hint.”
Lisa considered carefully. With a shrug, she offered, “How’s this? Enjoy breathing for the next few hours.” She turned and exited the room. “It’s the last time you’re going to be doing it for a while,” she called back from the hallway.
Both women just stared at the empty doorway for almost a minute. “Well,” Rachel finally said, “that was downright mean.”
“Warned you,” Anne reminded her.
“Yeah,” Rachel nodded, getting up from the bed. “I guess you did.” She turned back to face the older woman. “So, what do you think?”
“Hard to say.”
“Oh, come on,” Rachel pushed, “how hard can it be?” She made a show of thinking. “Obviously, it’s something that doesn’t breathe, so…” She thought some more before snapping her fingers. “House plants.”
“House plants?”
“Why not?”
“Why?” Anne countered. “I mean, what would she do with a couple of house plants.”
Rachel shrugged. “I don’t know. Put us on either side of the fireplace for a week?”
“Uh-huh.” Anne nodded as she considered that. “Well, plants breathe.”
“They do?”
“I’m pretty sure they do, yeah.”
Rachel flopped back down on the bed. “Crap.” After a moment, she held up a finger. “Still, I think I’m right about us being a set.”
Anne turned and gave her an arched eyebrow. “A set?”
“You know,” Rachel explained, “something that goes together. Like we did with her and Chris as that sculpture. Whatever we’re going to be, it’ll be a matching…” She stopped as an idea struck. “Got it,” she shouted. “She’s going to make us her underwear.”
An abrupt laugh erupted from Anne before she brought it under control. “Really,” she said, unable to keep from smiling. “Her underwear?”
Rachel gave her a thumbs up.
“I don’t think so.”
“Oh, come on,” Rachel hissed. “You don’t think that Lisa would see wearing you as a bra as…”
“No,” Anne cut her off. “I don’t. It’s too…” She had to fight back another giggle. “…obvious.”
Again, Rachel deflated. “Yeah, you’re right. Way too tame.”
“Way.” Anne got up and pull the cover back on the bed. “Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m going to take a nap.”
Rachel leapt up from the bed. “A nap!”
“Yup.”
“How can you take a nap?”
“Easy,” Anne replied, slipping out of her robe. “You’ve kept me up every night this week. I’m tired.”
“But…”
Anne cut her off with a very Lisa-looking glare. “I’m tired,” she repeated, slipping into the bed and pulling up the covers.
Rachel just gaped at her in frustration before growing defiant. “Well, I’m not.” She grabbed her phone from the nightstand. “And I’m not going to let that be…” She stopped when Anne raised an eyebrow at her. “…woman get the best of me. I’ll figure this out.”
“You do that,” Anne said, rolling away from her. “Just do it quietly.”
Rachel frowned at her back. “No promises.”
Anne ignored her and closed her eyes.
----- ----- -----
“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!”
“I’m awake!” Anne shouted, pushing the bouncing girl away from here. “What time is it?” she asked with a glare.
Rachel glanced over at the clock. “T minus eight hours and fifty-seven minutes.”
Anne sighed, pushing herself into a sitting position. “Three hours,” she said to herself. “I guess that’s better than nothing.” She turned her attention back to Rachel, who knelt at the foot of the bed. “So, what’s so important it couldn’t wait another hour or so?”
“I’ve figured it out. I know what that evil cousin of yours is doing to us.”
“I’m listening.”
“She’s turning us into her boobs,” Rachel proclaimed proudly.
Anne stared at her in disbelief. “Her what?”
“Her boobs,” Rachel said again. “You know. Her titties. Her ta-ta’s. Her ba-zook-kas.” To be sure Anne got the point, she cupped her own breasts.
Anne stared some more. “Where do you get these ideas?”
“Where else?” She pulled her phone out of her robe pocket. “Internet.”
“Of course.” Anne threw the covers back and swung her legs out of the bed. “Well, you can forget that idea,” she added, going over to her dresser.
“Why?”
Anne opened her underwear drawer, pulling out a fresh pair of panties. “Because the wand doesn’t work that way. It can only change things. Not add them to something else.” She turned and lean against the dresser. “Besides, Lisa already changed us, remember? Did you feel yourself bouncing around on her chest?”
Rachel sat back in disappointment. ““Yeah,” she admitted. “You’re right.” She sighed. “Too bad. I was looking forward to becoming your pussy someday.”
“Yeah, too bad.” Anne headed for the bedroom door. “Now, I’m go…” She stopped dead and turned back to the younger woman. “Wait, what?” Rachel gave her the Groucho eyebrows. With a shake of her head, Anne turned back to the door. “I’m going to take a shower.”
“Want company?”
“Not this time,” Anne answered without looking back. “Maybe later.”
“We don’t have a later,” Rachel called after her. Apparently, Anne didn’t hear her, because she didn’t reply. Rachel stared at the empty doorway for a few seconds. Then, with a shrug, she punched a new search into her phone.
----- ----- -----
“Come on,” Rachel pleaded. “She must have told you something.”
“Nope,” Chris disagreed, trying hard to work, despite the girl perched on the corner of his desk. “All she said was ‘I’ve got this’ and left with the wand.”
“And you’re okay with that?”
Chris looked up from his laptop. “Rachel, it’s not like you didn’t know something like this was coming. I mean, you did give us the wand back, didn’t you?”
The girl slumped into a pout. “Anne made me.”
Chris smiled to himself. “Well, if you want to know what’s going to happen to you, you’re just going to have to ask Lisa”
“You don’t think I haven’t tried that?”
“And?”
“She won’t tell me. All she does is grin at me. It’s creepy.”
“Ooh, the grin.” Chris shuddered. “You ARE in trouble.” After a moment, he smiled.
Rachel narrowed her eyes at him. “You know,” she said, “you used to be a lot nicer. I think that woman has been a bad influence on you.”
“In oh so many ways.” He shooed her off his desk. “Now, get. I’ve got work to do. You’ll find out what she did in…” He gave her a questioning look.
“Six hours and twenty-three minutes.”
“Right. Then. Now, go.”
She huffed and headed for the door. “I WILL figure this out. She’s NOT smarter than I am.”
“Smarter?” he said without looking up from his work. “I can’t say. But more devious?”
When he didn’t go on, she turned to find him grinning at her. It looked disturbingly like the one his wife had given her. Defiantly, she stuck her tongue out at him and left.
----- ----- -----
“How can you eat at a time like this?”
“I’m hungry,” Anne told her, pouring milk into her bowl. “You should eat something, too. You might not get to for a week or more.”
“More?”
Anne shrugged. “Depends on how mad Lisa is.”
Rachel considered that. “I can’t eat anything,” she finally decided. “My stomach is too tied up in knots.”
“Suit yourself.” She shoveled in a spoonful of Lucky Charms.
Rachel sat back in her chair. “I’ve got to think. What…” She stopped as an idea formed. “What about that?”
Anne swallowed. “What about what?”
Rachel leaned forward again. “Maybe she’s turning us into something to eat.”
As was quickly becoming the norm, Anne stared at her. “Seriously?”
“Why not? It’s what I did to them. I turned them into a couple of fruits.”
Anne giggled. “Again, seriously? You really believe that Lisa is planning to eat us?”
“I didn’t say she would eat us,” Rachel pointed out. “Just that she would turn us into something that could be eaten.”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know,” Rachel admitted, then brightened. “How about chocolate versions of ourselves? You know, like bunnies at Easter time. She wouldn’t have to eat us. At least, not ALL of us. She could cut of small pieces of us as snacks and keep the rest in the fridge, so we don’t melt.”
“Trust me on this,” Anne said, going back to her cereal. “If she turned us into chocolate, melting wouldn’t be a possibility. More like a certainty.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Hmmm…” Rachel thought so more. “So maybe…” Before she could say anymore, Anne picked up her bowl and headed for the door. “Hey, where are you going?”
“Somewhere I can eat in peace.” She went into the living room.
Rachel started to follow her but stopped as Lisa came in from the same door. “What do you want?” Rachel asked her suspiciously.
Lisa shrugged. “Just looking for something to eat,” she said. Then, she grinned.
Rachel quickly left the room by the other door.
----- ----- -----
“Are you mad at me?”
Anne stopped at the door of her bedroom. “What? Why would I be mad at you?”
“I don’t know,” Rachel told her. “For getting you in trouble with Lisa?”
Anne harrumphed, going into the room. “I’m pretty sure I did that one on my own.”
“Are you sure?” Rachel asked, following her. “I’m the one that turned her and Chris into bobble-heads so they would be stuck as that sculpture.”
“And I’m the one that didn’t turn them back.” Anne sat on her bed, patting the mattress beside her. “Trust me, Sweetie. I’ve earned my punishment all by myself.”
Rachel sat beside her. “I guess you’re right. It’s just…” She trailed off.
“Come on. Out with it. Just what?”
Rachel thought before she answered. “Well, you’ve been a bit cold to me today, is all.”
Anne looked openly shocked. “I…” She seemed to consider it. After a moment, she sighed. “I guess I have, haven’t I?”
“A bit, yeah.”
“Well, I’m sorry for that.” She reached over and pulled the girl into a hug. “It’s not you, Sweetie. It’s me. I’ve really enjoyed our week together. It really took my mind off some things that have been weighing on me lately.”
“But?”
“But taking my mind off them doesn’t make them go away,” Anne pointed out. She sighed heavily. “And now, it appears that I’m going to have a week or so to do nothing else but dwell on them.”
“Because of what Lisa’s doing to us?”
“Yup.”
“God!” Rachel shouted. “I wish I could figure out what she did! It’s driving me nuts!”
Anne smiled softly. “Really? I hadn’t noticed.”
Rachel pouted at her.
Anne reached out and pushed her fingers through Rachel’s two-tone hair. “Listen to me, Rach. No one knows how Lisa thinks better than I do. So, trust me when I say that worrying about what she’s going to do to us is a waste of time.” When the young woman made to protest, she cut her off. “Even if you guess right… and trust me, the odds are you won’t… she’s never going to admit it to you. So, why waste the energy?”
Rachel sighed. “I guess you’ve got a point.”
“Glad to hear it. Now…” She pulled herself further into the bed, twisting around until her head was on the pillow. “We’ve still got a little over an hour before our time is up. So, what do you say? Want to fool around?” It was her turn to make with the Groucho eyebrows.
Rachel returned the gesture. She leaned over to give Anne a deep kiss but stopped before she got to her lips. “But we don’t have the wand.”
“Well, I was hoping we wouldn’t need it.” Rachel seemed disappointed, so Anne added, “If it helps, there’s something in the top drawer of that nightstand that’s sort of like a wand. Feel free to…” She stopped as Rachel’s expression turned serious. “Oh, no.”
“Sex toys! She going to turn us into sex toys!”
“For who? Her? Chris? I don’t think so.”
“No!” Rachel cried, leaping up from the bed. “For each other.”
“Each other?”
Rachel nodded excitedly. “Follow me on this. She turns you into one of those fake pussy things. And me into a dildo. Then, she puts us together. Hell, she might even put us on the same mantle we left her and Chris on.”
“On the mantle?”
Rachel nodded.
“In the living room? You don’t think that’s a little… public?”
“Why not? We left a really erotic sculpture there for a week, didn’t we?”
“Well, yeah. But…”
“This is just her way of kicking it up a notch.”
“A notch? More like a mile.”
“Exactly. It’s perfect.” She headed for the door. “I’m going right now to tell her I figured it out.”
“But…”
It was too late. Rachel was already out the door.
Anne caught her reflection in her vanity mirror. “It’s your own fault. You just had to mention the vibrator, didn’t you?”
She turned and eyed the nightstand. With a sigh, she reached over and picked up the magazine that was lying on top of it. Before she could open it, Rachel came back in the room. Her face told the tale. “No, huh?” Anne asked.
Rachel nodded. “All she did was laugh.” She looked back out the door with a shudder. “It was creepier than her grin.”
----- ----- -----
“Does she play golf?”
“Why?” Anne asked without looking up from her magazine.
“She could have made us a couple of clubs.”
“No golf.” Anne turned a page. “She bowls.”
Rachel considered that. “Bowling shoes?”
Anne shook her head. “Take too long to break in,” she pointed out.
“Couldn’t she have made us already broken in.”
Anne thought. “You know, I guess she could have at that.”
“So?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Crap.” Rachel went back to her phone.
Anne closed her magazine and put it back on the nightstand. She took note of the clock beside it and turned back to where the young woman continued to pace back and forth. “5, 4, 3…”
Rachel suddenly stopped and turned to her. “I’ve got it!” she shouted. A second later, with a flash, she vanished, her robe dropping out of sight at the foot of her bed.
Anne turned her eyes skyward. “Thank you!” she silently mouthed to the ceiling just before her own flash left her robe to deflate on top of the mattress.
----- ----- -----
Chris left his office to find Lisa curled up in her favorite chair with a glass of wine. “Ooh, that looks good,” he said. “Mind if I join you?”
“Help yourself.” She nodded to the bottle of top of the bar.
He got a glass and poured. “So, where are Anne and Rachel?”
Lisa shrugged. “I guess they’re in Anne’s room.”
He came over and sat in the chair beside her. “You guess?”
“That’s the last place I saw them,” she replied.
“But haven’t they…”
She nodded before taking a sip of wine. “Over an hour ago.”
“You didn’t get them and do whatever it was you were going to do?”
“They’re not going anywhere.” Another sip. “It can wait till morning.”
“But Rachel really wanted to know…”
“Yeah,” she cut him off. “She did, didn’t she?” She took one more sip from her glass before looking up with a grin.
Chris eyed her carefully. A moment later, he smiled. “What you did to them was never the point.”
“No,” she admitted. “It wasn’t”
“Well, how about that,” he said. “Smarter AND more devious.”
“And don’t you forget it, Bub.”
“Noted.” He raised his glass to her. “Here’s to the waiting.”
She clinked her own glass to his. “The hardest part.”
