Angelo Branduardi- I doni del cervo

Tell me, kind Lord
that sits there so calmly
the end of your trip
what has brought us?
The spotted heads of ferocious tigers
to make a carpet, their skins
On the hills, between the 4th and 5th month
I, to hunt, went on my own
And so hidden, with my heart pounding,
I was ambushing the fallow deer
but instead came the buck, who stopped in front of me
And so hidden, with my heart pounding,
I was ambushing the fallow deer
but instead came the buck, who stopped in front of me

I cry my fate, I will soon pass away
and as a gift then.. i will offer thee
These ample horns, my good Lord
from my ears, Thou may drink
A clear mirror, my eye will be for Thou
with my fur, Thou may make some brushes
If my meat will satiate thee
my skin will warm thee
And it will be my liver, that will give thee courage
And so it'll be, my dear Lord,
that the body of your old servant
seven times will give fruit,
seven times it will bloom

Tell me, kind Lord
that sits there so calmly
the end of your trip
what has brought us?
what has brought us?
