A New Phenomenon

Introduction
Switchers are a pair of linked individuals that possess strange and unique abilities. These abilities currently defy scientific explanation and have thus been classified as supernatural in nature. These abilities pose no threat to the wider community as Switchers can only affect their partner. There is a lack of data when it comes to Switchers and more research is needed.

Origin

The current origin of Switchers is unknown as they have only been observed recently. It’s a possibility that they have existed for as long as humankind or been affected by something more recently.

Population
Only a handful of Switchers have been identified; Currently less than twenty individuals and ten pairs. These Switchers have been identified in a handful of countries, indicating there is a greater population. Based on the current spread of known Switchers, current estimations put them at a one in fifty million chance of occurring.

Cause
What causes a Switcher is currently unknown. DNA testing of observed Switchers has revealed no unique identifier for a Switcher. All observed Switchers gained their abilities during early adulthood. All observed Switchers have indicated having strange dreams prior to pairing.

Pairings
A pairing typically* occurs between two people of a similar age in a small radius. Of the observed Switchers most have had a previous connection to their pairing but not a strong one. Current observed connections have been, former co-workers, childhood friends, attending the same campus, living in the same street, with one notable outlier*.

Abilities
Switchers have been designated as such as their abilities involve switching something with their partner in some way. It is unknown the rarity of each ability is.

These are the current observed abilities

-Body Swapping: This ability to swap bodies with their partner. There have been two versions of this ability already observed, one where the person’s minds swap places and the body stays where it is, the other where their bodies swap places and the mind stays where it is.

-Gender Flipping: This ability only works with pairs of the opposite sex. The Switcher has the ability to change genders at will causing their partner to change theirs as a result.

-Part Swapping: This ability allows for the Switcher to swap individual body parts with their partner. This can be any body part, from limbs to individual facial features. A second variation of this ability has been observed but it is unclear if it is the same ability.

-Weight redistributing: This ability allows for the Switcher to transfer body fat and muscle growth to their partner. This was one of the harder abilities to identify.

-Age shifting: This ability was observed with one of the outliers*. It allows for the Switcher to reduce their age while aging up their partner. This ability is unique as it has limitations to how young the body can go, stopping at the age of the younger Switcher when their abilities manifested.

It’s believed there are more abilities out there that haven’t been discovered yet and undiscovered variations of the known abilities.

*Outliers
It is alarming how many outliers have already been discovered with such a small sample size. They are classified as outliers as they don’t seem to follow the common rules established by the other observed Switchers.

There are currently three known outliers:

-The first outlier: As stated under Pairings, most Switchers are a similar age to their partner, with a discrepancy of two to five years at most. The Age Shifting ability was observed between an eighteen year old male and a fifty-three year old woman living on the same street.

-The second outlier: This outlier is an outlier among outliers as it defies our current understanding with two of the known conditions. The first being a prior connection with their Switch Partner and the second being the radius of their connection. These Switchers live on the opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean, have never met and swap bodies with each other each time they fall asleep at the same time. It is theorized that this might be a completely unrelated phenomenon from Switchers.

-The third outlier: This outlier comes with the second variation of Part Swapping. It’s worth mentioning that their variation allows them to detach body parts before Switching them with their partner. What makes them triply unique is that they are able to use their abilities separate from their partner and a direct swap isn’t required, IE. they can swap a hand for a foot.

Conclusion
The phenomenon of Switchers is strange and unique. Not enough information is known about them, including what their abilities might be, how many there are and if they could affect more than just their partner. More research needs to go into this field to get a better understanding of the universe as a whole and… to understand why Melanie Bucks is such a bitch writing about me without my permission.
