When I was ordered to isolate, for the second time, I didn't know what I was going to do. I had only just arrived in the city for my flight. Sarina was behind me in the queue and she also came back with a high temperature and wasn't allowed to fly. When she saw how stressed I was she approached me and I explained the situation to her. That's when she was kind enough to let me stay with her. She had told me that she had recently moved to the city and didn't know anyone so letting someone stay would give her company. I had registered her address as the place I would be staying and there was no turning back now.
"So, uh..." Sarina began as she opened her suitcase to look for her house keys, she wasn't expecting to need them again anytime soon. "I might've neglected to mention the state of my house." She found the keys and unlocked the door. "I only just moved in and haven't gotten the place quite set up yet." She opened the door and I could tell what she meant.
The house was open planned, with the living room, dining room and kitchen all exposed in one open area. The living and dining room were completely empty. The kitchen had an oven, microwave and a crappy looking bar fridge sitting where a full sized refrigerator would go. There were at least two stools at the kitchen bench though.
"I was meant to fly back home to get the rest of my stuff," Sarina explained. "I had been staying in a hotel until recently and only moved in a couple of days ago. Good thing I managed to get the stools in a set of two," she was apologetic as she gave the 'tour'. "I have some food here still and there's some disposable cutlery, bowls, plates and cups. I tipped the milk down the sink though."
I was speechless as I followed down the hall to the bedrooms. The rooms all had wooden floor boards and two of them were empty. I followed her into the master bedroom and all there was was an inflated mattress with some basic bedding and a couple of pillows. It was at least big enough for two people to fit.
"So, um... yeah, this is my house at the moment...." Sarina knew she had done the wrong thing. She saw the expression on my face as I took in the situation. "I'm sorry I wasn't completely honest but this is the only area I could stay and I couldn't handle the thought of being here alone while I was still setting up. Also you needed a place to stay. It's not going to be pleasant but at least we won't need to do this alone."
I looked down at the mattress and back at Sarina. I never got her age, she looked like she was a little younger than me though but not by much. She was rather attractive, even in her tired state. Thought I had only just met this woman and while she did a kind thing for me it was out of selfish reasons. "So does this mean we're going to be sharing the bed?" It was the first thing that came to my mind and it was a valid question.
Sarina turned to the mattress and then back at me, I saw her cheeks go red with embarrassment but it quickly faded as she seemingly examined me to see what I actually thought of the idea. She had taken a risk on me as well, for all she knew I could be a creep and would abuse the situation.
"I guess, we have no choice. Though I don't mind..." Sarina sized me up again. "We'll I kinda do, but I'm the one that invited you to stay here knowing full well I only had one bed. Also it should hopefully be for a night or two, I can order another mattress online." Sarina laid her Suitcase flat and opened it up, pulling out her laptop. She plugged it into the wall as he laptop was loading she pulled out her phone and turned it into a hot spot. "I know I can use my phone but I find the laptop to be much easier," Sarina explained as she sat down on the floor.
"Um, do you mind if I connect to your internet?" I asked, pulling out my phone. I had gone over my allocated data and would likely be hit with a large bill when I got back home."
"No problem," Sarina replied as she gave me the password. "Though be careful with how much you use." She sighed as she waited for the internet to load.
"I just want to let my family know what happened, that's all," I explained as I gave my family an update about my situation via messenger. Like Sarina I neglected to mention the state of her house. I apologized and said I probably wouldn't be able to stay in much contact but will try when I could, then I got off the phone. "Thanks for that," I put the phone away and went to my carry on bag, to pull out a puzzle book I had bought a couple of days ago. I realized with limited technology and only a couple of books the stay here was going to get boring rather easily.
"Damn, I can't get a mattress in until next week." Sarina said annoyed. "I guess we'd probably be fine with the idea of sharing a bed by then," she gave me an awkward half smile. "While I have the laptop open, I'll order us some groceries. I'm also feeling a little hungry so I could order us an early dinner as well." I briefly looked at my phone and saw it was almost five in the evening. "Is there anything you need in the groceries?" She asked.
I knew I'd like some small snack items but I didn't really know what they had available and I was unfamiliar with the local brands. I sat down against the wall looking over Sarina's shoulder as she went through the digital catalogue, I pointed out small things that looked interesting or knew I'd enjoy as well as a few things that could make a meal for a night or two. After that we decided on Pizza for dinner as it was the simplest thing to get.
By the time the shopping was finished and the pizza was delivered another hour had passed. We sat in the kitchen, sharing a single meat-lovers pizza and some garlic bread. I was already starting to get bored though I was too tired to do anything. Sarina had a Netflix account but her laptop wasn't the best, especially when it was relying on her phone. So we couldn't really watch much. With nothing better to do we talked for a while.
I explained that this was my first time out of the country. I knew about the virus before I had left but it was early stages and I thought it'd be alright. When things started to get worse, I needed to try and get back to the other side of the country to fly back home. Though someone where I had been staying had the virus and I had potential contact with them so I had already got through one round of quarantine. I was in it for about a week before I was cleared and free to travel again. Unable to afford two plane tickets, I hopped on a bus to get me across the country.
Sarina told me that she had been in the city, for a new job, before the outbreak. She had also been staying in a hotel room while looking for a house. She found this one a couple of weeks ago and was approved last week. She had only officially been 'living' here for three days as she felt it would be a better place than a crowded hotel so managed to get the bare necessities to stay here until her scheduled flight. She had driven here originally and was flying so she could drive back with her dad with the rest of her stuff, though now she wished she had just gotten him to bring them to her. To make things worse was the job she moved for had been suspended.
We talked about other things, like where we originally came from and the odd thing or two. Before I knew it, it was around eight. Even though I usually went to bed closer to midnight I was pretty worn out and ready for sleep. So was Sarina by the look of things. The thought of sharing a bed with her was still something I hadn't come to terms with and that was mostly because she was a stranger and how she looked. I didn't even consider that we had both come back with high temperatures and if one of us wasn't actually sick, then we could infect the other one.
Sarina had excused herself to get changed and went into her en-suite. I dug around my suitcase and got out my pajamas and toothbrush and tooth paste. I went to the other bathroom and came back, dressed in silk boxers and a singlet. When I went back to the master bedroom, Sarina came out wearing a white T-Shirt, which I could see her nipples through, and peach underwear. Her sandy brown hair was no longer tied up and flowed past her shoulders. I gulped as I saw her and I felt aroused, not only looking at her but mostly the thought of laying next to her. Even if we slept back to back, our butts would be touching.
Unfortunately, my boxers weren't the best at hiding an erection. I covered my crotch with my hands and sat against the wall. "I'm not sure I can do this," I said, not sure where I'd possibly sleep. "It's just way out of my comfort zone, I've never actually slept besides a woman before either."
Sarina gave me a pity smile as she sat besides me while also giving me some distance. "I'm actually glad to see you're hesitant about this. I think I'd be more worried if you were too eager. But there's only one place for us to sleep.... although.... no, you probably won't like it," Sarina began to console me before getting lost in her own thoughts.
"What is it?" I turned to face her, trying to keep eye contact. "If you have an alternate solution to the sleeping arrangement, I'd like to hear it."
Sarina got off the floor and paced for a moment. I stood up so I wouldn't be looking at her butt, crotch or thighs as she paced. "It's not something I can tell you, I'd have to show you and if I showed you, it'd be too late for you to say no..." She was talking to herself just as much as she was talking to me. She then stopped suddenly and faced towards me. "If I'm to do this, you need to trust me completely. I haven't really tried this before. It could go wrong. So I need you to be absolutely certain, you'd want this over sharing a bed."
This had me worried, I had no idea what she had planned. I gave her a quick glance from head-to-toe, causing my penis to stir again, I knew I couldn't share a bed without making things more awkward. "I mean I already agreed to stay with you for the fourteen days so..." It seemed like an even worse decision now, even though Sarina had been nothing but kind since we met. "Show me your solution," I shrugged off, it couldn't be any worse than it was now.
"Okay..." Sarina was more hesitant than me. "But don't say I didn't warn you first." Sarina put her hands together and closed her eyes and began to concentrate. The light in the room flickered and there was an energy in the air. My hairs on my arms and the back of my neck stood on their ends. My spine shivered as my skin broke out in goosebumps. I looked at Sarina to see her reaction to all this. Her eyes were still closed as she concentrated harder and her hair looked like it was no longer affected by gravity.
When she opened her eyes they were glowing and her facial expression was blank as if she had no emotions whatsoever. She aimed her right palm at my chest and I felt like I had been hit in the heart with a bolt of energy. Though it didn't seem to hurt. Sarina went back to her normal state and I was left speechless. "I'm sorry," she said a little scared for my well being. "Just remember you asked for this."
I went to say something but I couldn't seem to catch my breath. My heart, which was racing a second ago, had slowed so much each beat felt like a huge effort. My whole body was numb and tingly at the same time. I wasn't sure if this was something with the virus I might've had or Sarina's doing. Though she looked calm enough, if not a little uncertain and sad. I also didn't collapse, it's like I couldn't. My chest grew cold and I noticed the skin on my arms began to turn grey as my hairs seemed to vanish. I touched my left arm and while my fingertips were numb, it sounded like stone hitting stone. Stone?, I thought as I looked down at my body as far as my stiff neck would allow. I could see my chest just barely but it had turned to stone. I went to look up to face Sarina, but my eye sight just made it to her feet before I could no longer move.
"Are you still in there?" Sarina asked unsure of herself as I saw her feet move closer to me and I could see her knees. She waved her hand in front of my unblinking eyes as she tapped me on the head. Even though I was stone, I could feel her hair touch my body as she placed her ear against me. "Okay good, you're still there. I was worried for a second," the was genuine relief in her voice. "I'll reverse this in the morning," she promised as she placed her hand over my frozen eyes. "Now sleep..." I don't know how she did it but my stone eyelids slowly moved down covering my vision, everything after that began to fade.
