"What are you doing?" Ryan struggled with the rope that bound his and Jessie's wrists together. They were in the basement tied to chairs in a circle made up of symbols and patterns. Candles surrounded the circle and standing outside of it was Ester, Tammy and Ruby. Tammy had an ancient book in her hand while Ester and Ruby held jars. Ryan didn't remember much of the morning, just that they were in the living area together before Tammy knocked him out.

"Bradly and Tina Lawson, your daughters call to you, accept these hosts and return to the land of the living," Tammy chanted. "Ryan and Jessie leave your bodies, make room for the returning dead."

"You know that this.. urk.. won't really be.. urk... your... URK!" Ryan and Jessie threw up their balls of light. Ester and Ruby snatched them up into the jars.

"Now mum and dad, the way is open, claim these empty vessels!" Two dark balls crawled up from the ground and swirled around Ryan and Jessie's bodies. They stopped and entered the bodies. Jessie and Ryan took a deep breath in as the two of them settled in. "Mum, dad is that you?"

"Of course it's us, what do we look like..." Jessie's body spoke up. "Hmm, I appear to be a woman... are you girls responsible for this?"

"Wait, that's not right... you're meant to be in Ryan's body..." Tammy flicked through the pages wondering where she went wrong.

"Nah, I'm just messing with you kiddo. Your mum and I decided, so in other words your mum decided, that if we were to come back we should try new things like genders. Anyway can you untie us please, I thought you wanted family bonding time, not bondage time."

"Right sure..." Tammy put the book down and cut Ryan and Jessie out of the chairs.

"Come here girls," Ryan gave the three of them a huge hug. "No we best find a host for those two spirits you have in the jars. Can't risk them getting out and taking over which ever body they see fit. I'll also take the book, you three have had your fun playing with magic."

"Ooh, we should put one of them in a toaster, I've always wanted a smart toaster," their dad suggested.

"There's no toaster here, there's no electricity in this house," Tammy explained.

"Well then, lets go home," their mum grabbed the book and lead them out of the basement. They made their way to the front door, which was now open for them and the girls were surprised to see their car waiting in the drive way.

"Scratch the toaster, I want a self driving car," Jessie snatched the jar from Ruby's hands, opened up the hood of the car and poured the ball of light onto the engine. The car came to life instantly as Jessie became aware. "Now car, I expect you to behave yourself or I'll send you to the scrap heap but before I do that, I'll make a complete fool of this body around town, and completely destroy its reputation. Honk twice if you understand." Jessie beeped the horn and opened up the doors for them.

"Dad wasn't that a bit harsh?" Tammy questioned.

"I've always taught you girls to show technology who's boss. Also it's weird you calling me dad when I'm about your age and not a man." The Lawson's got into the car, with their mother and father in the front and drove home. It was weird that they had to give their car directions back to their house though. They left the car parked in the driveway and entered their house for what felt like a very long time.

"Oh fuck the swap gremlins!" Tammy, was wondering why they hadn't been home in over two weeks. "We can't go in, the house is infected."

"Sounds to me like you've had people over and don't want us to see how you've left the house in our absence," their dad crossed his arms. It was weird seeing his trademark scowl coming from someone else's face.

"Now hold on dear, Tammy has always been the responsible one, she wouldn't lie about swap gremlins. Here, they are in the book," their mother flicked through the magic book. "Hmm simple enough to get rid of, or at the very least bind them for a day." She chanted something and got rid of them. "There all better now." She opened the door and froze when she saw her broken china collection. "What did you girls do! Someone is in serious trouble because of this!"

"We don't know what happened, we swear!" Tammy begged and pleaded. "We lost our memories."

"What a load of rubbish, you're all grounded!" Their dad snapped. "You're lucky I don't have my belt on me..."

"It's alright dear. I might be a boy at the moment but in spirit I'm still their mother. I can figure out the truth easy enough and punish the one responsible." She flicked through the magic book again and found a way to see into the past. "Tammy I'm so disappointed in you, I just said you were the responsible one, turns out you're also responsible for this. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ground you!"

"What? I would never..." Tammy pleaded with her parents as they took her out into the back yard. Their mother flicked through the spell book and used it on Tammy again. Her feet turned to roots and dug deep into the ground, arms turned to branches while her fingers turned to twigs and sprouted leaves. Her hair turned to flowing vines as tears rolling down her cheeks turned to sap. Her skin hardened and turned to bark.

"Let this be a lesson to you two girls, we're back now and will be disciplining you when required. You might think you're adults but we are your parents and you will always be kids to us. Now I expect you to have this house cleaned up and restored to how it used to look." Ruby and Ester looked at Tammy with shock, their parents wouldn't do something like this. "Get a move on..." their mother paused for a moment as she looked at Ester. "Hang on Ester come here a moment."

"Yes... mum?" It was weird her calling Ryan that.

"You seem to be upset with me, is something wrong? This isn't about Tammy I hope, you know she had that coming, breaking my fine china."

"I know mum..." Ester lied. "It's not about that, it's about... well it's hard to say."

"This is your boyfriend's body isn't it?" Ester nodded. "And you're feeling upset that I took it aren't you?" Even with Ryan's voice she had the warm voice only a mother could have. Ester nodded again, giving her mother a bittersweet smile. Her mother slapped her across the face, knocking her to the ground. "Selfish little brat! You would rather your boyfriend that having your own parents back from the dead? Do you know how much I sacrificed to raise the three of you?!"

"You're not my mother!" Ester stood up, the affect the challenge had over Ester that made her go along with this had faded. "You're a demon!"

"That's right, I am... And you're a worthless snake.." Ester's form violently changed until she was forced to slither on the ground. "Hmm, your boyfriend is still trapped in a jar, maybe I'll go find a mouse to put him in and you can eat him. Now slither along before I get your father to deal with you!"
