It was Christmas eve when and I had found the head of some lady who had been shopping at the last minute when a witch apparently cursed her. She told me how her body carried on like nothing was wrong and was more than likely sitting at home preparing for Christmas. She also told me how she had been given a timeframe for her head to be reattached to her body before midnight otherwise she’d be stuck like this forever.
When she had told others, they had agreed to help her too but only got her so far before they had to finish what they were doing or heading in the wrong direction, she even mentioned how the last group of teens purposely messed with her, leaving her in the men’s toilet where I found her.
She was so scared and frightened and I assured her I would get her home in time, even though I didn’t have a car and public transport was running slow due to the snow outside. I had to return home first to get some warmer clothes if I was to carry on but this delayed us heavily as I had to catch a bus home, waiting for it to arrive. Get home, get dressed and wait for the next bus to head back into town.
If I had enough money I would’ve called a taxi and I didn’t have Uber or Lift so public transport was the only way. By the time I had caught the train and got off as close to the woman’s house I could, it was after 10pm. The walk would’ve taken 45 minutes in normal weather but with the snow and could I managed to make it to her house with only 10 minutes to spare.
Unfortunately the door was locked and her security was set up though she instructed me on how to bypass all that and I managed to make my way inside. I went up to her bedroom, where her body was fast asleep and careful not to startle it I walked in quietly, before reuniting the head with the body.
I was worn out and exhausted but I had managed to bring this lady home. She was so thankful to me that she gave me a huge hug and a kiss on the cheek. For her it was a true Christmas miracle, for me I just couldn’t let her be cursed like that forever.
I stayed at her house that night and in the morning we enjoyed breakfast together before she took me home. A few weeks later I had found a card in my letterbox with a large cheque inside.
