It was Christmas time again and that meant the annual Christmas play was underway. This play was the heart of the town’s pride which had recently developed a rivalry with the next town over. It became such a big event that people from all over the county would come to see it and so it had to be perfect.

This year the mayor decided to hire an outside director, though he made sure to be discreet when doing so. The director he found was perfect, they often moved from town to town and directing new shows and all his reviews said how great he was at casting the near perfect likeness to certain characters, without compromising the role.

Sure enough the director answered the request and had arrived in town only a couple of days later. He didn’t even get settled in before he took over the play for himself. This year’s choice of play was the birth of Jesus.

When the director first took over the play, he made some odd requests and start by auditioning to find the town’s best actors, after that he began to request all sorts of people, based on height, hair colour, skin colour, eye colour and other notable features. The main one being a woman who were at various stages through their pregnancy, including one that had recently given birth.

Throughout rehearsals he didn’t seem to require anyone but his main actors but during the day of the play he had requested everyone else he had hired to take part in the play to come in. Before any of them knew it, they had all been divided up into bits and pieces sorted out by body parts.

When the main actress had come too, she no longer had her pale complexion, blonde hair or blue eyes and now had dark tanned skin, brown eyes and black hair. The director explained what had happened and while she was disturbed by this turn of events she did appreciate the lengths the director went through to make the perfect play, so she played her part well.

During her first scene with the angel, who now seemed to be wearing her hair on their head, she returned to the backstage and the director swapped out her belly and breasts with someone who was pregnant, this happened about 3 more times as the play progressed until she was 8 months pregnant. She only had to experience that for a short time as when the three wise men had their scene she was able to go swap bellies with a woman that recently had given birth.

When the play ended the audience cheered louder than anyone in the town could remember and the actress went backstage to be fixed up. She, like everyone else were soon put back together, some people not even realizing what had happened. The lead actress was so fascinated by the director’s skill she requested to become his lead actress in any future plays he did.
