An unusual-looking suitcase travels around the world, exchanging hands several times, remaining shut the entire time. Occasionally, when it’s tucked away overnight in a foreign airport, it sometimes moves a little bit…

The taxi driver pulled the suitcase out of the trunk of the taxi, setting it down roughly on the curb. It was a black one, with hard metal sides and a green tag hanging from the handle.
“Hey! Be careful with that!” The passenger shouts over the sound of the traffic as he steps out of the car.
“Yes sir…” The taxi driver murmured. He pulled out a smaller duffel bag from the trunk, set it carefully next to the suitcase and slammed the trunk closed. “That’ll be 30$”, he said, walking up to the man.
The man wore a black business suit, shiny leather shoes and a silver watch around his hand. The two men knew each other from previous trips.
“Here ya go”, the man said gruffly, passing him a wad of cash. The taxi driver knew it was quite a larger sum than 30$, but said nothing. He glanced around, looking to see if anyone had noticed the more than 1,000$ be exchanged.
“Quit looking”, the man said, grabbing the taxi driver by the shoulder and pulling him in close to whisper. “We’ve done this a dozen times, and nothing has ever happened, has it?”
“No, you’re right…” he whispered back, still glancing about shakily.
“Here, take this. Maybe it’ll make you feel better”, the man responded after a moment, ‘shaking’ the taxi driver’s hand. The driver nodded and walked back to the driver seat, where he got in. He didn’t look in his hand until the businessman had walked inside, pulling the black suitcase with the green tag behind him.
After he had left, the driver checked his hand. It was another wad of 100 dollar bills. He wiped his face before shoving it in the glovebox. He didn’t know what the businessman had or why he wanted his silence, but the driver knew that if anybody asked him, he had never seen the businessman in his life.
The man walked the suitcase through the airport. He spotted his ticket booth and quickly swiped his card, then presented his passport to the scanner. Satisfied, the machine spit out his ticket. The ticket was for a direct 8-hour flight out of the country.
The businessman walked up to the kiosk where an attendant stood, ready to check his ticket. They recognized each other, and the attendant gave him the slightest of nods. The businessman ignored her, slightly irritated at the sign of recognition she had given.
“Hello sir, are you flying FortAir today?” she asked politely, arranging herself in front of her computer.
“Yes ma’am I am!” he responded with a smile. He handed her his tickets and stood waiting.
She scanned them and typed some things, then smiled. “Looks good! Let’s weight your luggage to make sure it’s good to fly…” The man nodded and set the duffel bag down on the scale. She nodded her head approving the bag. The man then set the suitcase down on the scale.
The scale balanced itself out before settling down around 3 times the weight allowed for planes. Looking at the scale, the weight was shifting about, increasing by a pound or two, then suddenly decreasing. As if something inside was shifting its weight. The man glanced at the attendant, who had become pale. She looked at him and made eye contact. He gave her the slightest of nods, and she recovered her composure.
“Looks good sir! Have a safe flight!” she said shakily. The woman reached across the counter to shake his hand, to which he strongly embraced. The slight crinkle of bills could be heard as the gesture was completed, before the man picked up the suitcase and left the attendant sweating at the kiosk.
The man continued towards security, pulling the green-tagged suitcase behind him. He whistled to himself, trying to settle his discomfort.
Security was pretty much empty, letting the man choose the agent he wanted to visit. He went towards one that he recognizes and smiled.
“How’s it going?” he asked casually. They had been conducting business for years.
“Fine, and you?” The man pulled out his passport and presented it to the agent. He glanced at it, then said, “Go ahead.”
The man pulled the suitcase behind him, towards the x-ray machine. The woman behind the machine also recognized the man. He slid the suitcase into the machine and stepped through the metal detector himself. The woman watched the screen as the suitcase slid through, keeping her face studiously calm. After it exited, she hauled the suitcase carefully off the rollers and passed it to the man. They nodded at each other and the man went on his way.
Later that week, both agents received envelopes in the mail, each containing a hefty wad of cash.
An hour later, the man was sitting on his plane. His duffel bag was in the overhead rack and the suitcase was on the floor, sitting in the second seat he had paid for. The stewardess had given him a funny look when he told her he liked to save a seat for his suitcase, since he “once had a roof rack break on him and dump everything onto his head”, but she moved on without another question. He paid for both seats, so she didn’t mind.
Throughout the entire flight, the man stayed wide awake, resting his arm on the suitcase, feeling the occasional thump of movement inside.
The suitcase landed eight hours later. The man walked it out of the plane and into the foreign airport. He walked out of the bridge and turned towards one of the ends of the airport. The building was huge and getting to the end of it took him nearly fifteen minutes, but the man finally reached the last gate in the terminal. It was nearly deserted, the next flight from the gate scheduled for an entire day from then. The man spotted his target and set off for it.
Tucked behind a wall was a hidden nook. The man collapsed the suitcase handle and rolled it carefully into the nook. He took the piece of drywall that was leaning against the side of the hole and placed it over it, hiding the suitcase. He stood up and walked off, glancing behind him. The suitcase was completely hidden behind a solid wall. He smiled to himself and set off for the gate he had left from, to catch a return trip home.
The gate was left abandoned for several hours. Not a sound disturbed the area as the afternoon sun slowly set, the electric lights of the terminal kicking on. All night the lights burned, casting shadows against the fake piece of drywall, the suitcase with the green tag hidden behind it.
The next morning, another man came walking into the terminal. He looked around whistling to himself. He wore a leather jacket, jeans and leather boots with sunglasses on top of his head, tucked into his brown hair. He smiled to himself, seeing that the piece of drywall had been placed. Glancing up at the ceiling, the man saw the hole for where the camera normally sat. It had been ‘under repair’ for the past 3 years, letting him conduct his business in secret.
He looked around, seeing that the gate was still abandoned. He quickly kneeled down next to the wall and pulled the drywall off, revealing the green-tagged suitcase. He pulled it out and propped the fake drywall back inside the nook before pulling the suitcase over to a chair and sitting down. He knocked on the side of the suitcase a few times before pressing his ear to the side. He could hear faint stirring and smiled to himself. His associate had delivered once again. He ripped the green tag off and stuffed it in his pocket, before tying a pink tag around the handle. As he left, he dropped the green tag into a trash can.
The man pulled the suitcase behind him as he approached another gate. This one was for a 9 hour flight. He sat and waited for an hour, then boarded the plane as it arrived. He, too, had bought a second seat, just for the suitcase. The stewardess gave him the same reaction as the other stewardess had given the other man, and she likewise shrugged it off.
The man took a short nap, never taking his hand off the suitcase. He jerked awake as the plane touched down, and he patted the suitcase. “Here we are baby”, he whispered to the suitcase, before standing up and getting off the plane, pulling the suitcase behind him.
Outside, he called a taxi. The driver recognized him and quickly pulled up next to him before another taxi could take his spot.
“Hello sir, are we conducting business today?” the driver asked in broken English.
“Always my friend, always”, the man responded with a smile. He roughly dropped the suitcase into the trunk of the car and climbed into the back seat.
Upon arriving, the man shook the driver’s hand, transferring a wad of cash. The driver quickly muttered his thanks before re-entering the car. The man with the leather jacket walked off, leaving the suitcase and the taxi sitting for a moment. A minute later, a different man, wearing a green blazer, jumped in the back seat. After a short discussion and an exchange of currency, the taxi sped off.
Later, the man in the green blazer stood in a hotel room. He had hung the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the handle and deadbolted the door. He approached the bed, where the suitcase with the pink tag was sitting. His breath came in rapid bursts, his heart beating into his head.
He carefully pulled a key from his pocket and pushed it into the padlock that held the heavy-duty zipper shut. He took a deep breath and unlocked it, the lock falling onto the bed. He slowly undid the zipper, biting his lip. Once it was fully un-done, he flipped the lid open in one, sudden motion. The man gasped.
Sitting inside the suitcase was the body of a woman. She had bright red hair, tucked into a ponytail. Her blemish-less white skin wore no clothes, but had on many ‘decorations’. Smooth nylon rope wrapped around her body, cinched down over her ankles, knees, legs and thighs. Her arms were pulled behind her in a painful reverse-prayer position, with wraps of duct tape pinning her hands in fists. More duct tape encircled other parts of her body, adding to the rope. Her upper body was tied into a chest harness, making her perky breasts pop out into her own knees. She was tied into a tight ball, her ankles tied to her butt and her knees secured to her neck.
Around her neck she wore a tight black shock collar. It was hooked up to a microphone that was positioned right over her mouth. Her mouth was covered in layers of duct-tape, behind which the man with the blazer knew was a wad of cloth. There were more wraps of tape over her eyes, blinding her. He knew that there were earplugs in her ears underneath the tape wraps, so she couldn’t hear or see him. She was stirring though, her body twitching and shaking as she wiggled against her bonds. She could tell the suitcase had been opened.
The man tentatively clapped his hands near the microphone. The collar beeped and the girl screamed into her gag, the collar delivering a painful shock. The cry in pain triggered the microphone again, making her scream again. Her body bucked as she fought against her bonds, but nothing loosened. She managed to maintain her quietness after the third shock delivered, leading to nothing more. Her body quivered in silent sobs, praying for the person who had opened the suitcase to release her from the hell she had endured for the past two days.
The man stepped back in awe. She was even better than he had been promised. He sat in a chair, looking at the suitcase, watching the woman as she tested her bonds more, panicking that the man hadn’t released her.
“Oh baby…” the man thought to himself as he stood up from the chair, walking back to the suitcase…
