Hiram Lofton walked past the police precinct after parking Detective Mulligan's car nearby. He tossed her keys on the passenger's seat and left the door unlocked. He knew that either it would be stolen (and cause an uproar at the station) or it would be found by the police and cause them to realize that their detective, despite her car being there, wasn't around. Either, he thought, would serve his purpose well.

It was really an unfortunate thing for her, she had so much potential. She was obvious intelligent, driven, resourceful. Is she wasn't how could she have made the connection between those disappearances and the hospital? How could she have realized it was him and his team performing all of those "horrific" experiments?

Well, he had to hand it to her, she knew how to follow a trail, but she made one mistake. She assumed having a badge would protect her from someone like him, and she found out this morning that it did no such thing!
