"Yes, Mr. Carver?" Chelsea asked her boss.
"Mrs. Wittman," he started. "You have done well here. Very well. Your work as a secretary has been very good, but see, there is a slight problem."
"I don't understand. You just said I had done well. I'm not sure I follow."
"I will explain. See, it is almost too good. I have an idea, a promotion for you. See, you will handle Mr. Ito's department. I think you are, despite his degrees, more qualified to run his department."
"I thank you, but that position, I have heard that woman are not promoted to that role."
"You are correct."
"So, I guess I'm a bit of a groundbreaker. The first woman as a department head, I take it?"
"Uh, also no." He said with an odd smile. "See, we are not willing to do something like that yet. In order to get you in that position, we will have to do something a bit different."
"Oh? What?"
Miss Ito sat there, smiling as Mr. Wittman looked at him. It was so strange, seeing her former body, the body she had literally that morning in front of her, the department manager's head firmly stitched onto her pretty body. She still in front of him, her charcoal men's business suit immaculate as she looked at her new secretary.
Strange, she thought, he didn't seem upset by this at all. In fact, he seemed happy, almost eager about the whole thing. It was at that moment she realized she had been had, that while the promotion was real, it was a cover for something much more strange. However, it was far too late to go back now.
