A dark caption.

I doubt she had a clue what was about to happen when I stepped into the door. How could she? There was no way she knew about her husband's research. If he had even breathed a whisper to her we'd have known about it.

So, this was not about him talking. It was about him being compliant. See, he had been bold lately. We knew some of the research money was going to him. You would think an executive like him would be able to cover his tracks better, or at least pay someone to do that, but no, he was arrogant enough to think he had fooled us all.

He hadn't. Now he needed to understand why this company was different than most. We don't fire people. That is too easy. No, we make examples of them for everyone else to see.

Such was the case here. As far as we were concerned, his wife was culpable as he was. She had a background in accounting, she certainly knew not all of this was his. It wouldn't have mattered either way, we needed our example, but it did make it much easier to do for us.

So, when she opened that door to what she thought was her husband's trusted fellow executive and friend, she had no idea what she was getting into. Just a few milligrams of that sedative, just a tiny bit, and she was out. All I had to do was go and grab the machine.

It felt odd leave like this, my head grafted onto her body, but it felt good, especially after I changed into a cozy sweater dress and tights. He'd be late working tonight and my next stop was to the main office. When I see him next, I'll give him two choices, comply and we'll make this easier or not and see what our next step is. I almost want him not to. A better example, that way.
