Hank looked to his left and right every few seconds as he walked. Each step gave him more of those strange feelings. The hairless legs encased in pantyhose, the pressure from the high heels, the feeling of a dress and not to even mention what he did and did not have anymore... that alone was enough to make someone self-conscious.

What made it much worse for him, he thought, was the incision on his forehead. Surely everyone could see it, right? They had to, he looked like he had just escaped from Frankenstein's lab. They had to see that.

He'd look as he walked, checking to see if people were watching, if people were talking. It wasn't until he walked half the aisles in the store in a paranoid haze that he finally realized something.

Most people didn't care. He did see a few people look and an even smaller number talk and whisper, but it was a small minority of people there.

By the time he was near the produce, he finally just shrugged and found an abandoned shopping cart and started to shop. He was sure people would be asking all about his staples, his walk, the way he moved, sure they could spot at an instant that he was a man's brain in a woman's body, but no, they were shocking not here to look at him. They were, just like him, here to shop.
