A dark caption. Like, really damn dark.

"Oh, Ben, I have something for you."

"What is it, Alice?" He asked as he walked into the room.

"A gift, of course!" A smile came across that pretty face. "By the way, do you like my dress? My outfit?"

"I love it! What's the occasion?"

"Can't a woman dress nicely for her husband?" That voice was so sweet as those words left soft lips. "But enough on me, please, open it!"

Gloved hands gave him the gift and he carefully undid the wrapping, smiling as he did. Those hands were kept close.

"Afraid I might drop it?" He said, a slight bit of annoyance in his voice.

"Well, it is quite the surprise. You'll see."

"I'm intrigued." He said as he got to the lid of the box and took it off. It was something in a jar, he saw and when he pulled it out of the box...

Deft gloved hands caught the jar as he dropped it and he took several steps back, his face a mask of horror. All the joy in his face was replaced by fear but her expression was still the smile, but now there was an undercurrent, a dark undercurrent he hadn't caught on to before.

"Oh, you don't like it?" Her voice was so soft, so measured as she looked at the jar. It was a clear jar with a clear liquid in it, liquid that suspended a human brain in the jar. "Do you know what it is?"

"It's a brain! Why the hell did you give me a brain?"

"Oh, it's not just any brain, silly! It's your wife's brain! Nice and preserved."

"My, my wife, but you're, you..."

"Oh, dear sweet Ben, your wife hasn't been around for two weeks now. Well, her pretty little body is still here but her, the real her, all that's left of her is preserved in that jar of liquid. You might be wondering who has been at your side since then, who has cooked, who you've talked to, who has given you the best sex of your life these last two weeks. Well, truth be told, I was an eighty-one year old homeless man who did a favor for a very strange doctor. I don't think you need or want to hear more, but I did think at least you should have your wife around for the holidays! How thoughtful of me, I think."
