Kenji could not help but smile warmly as he walked over to meet his date. he was handsome, and despite his clothing and the restaurant choice he had a air of normalcy about him, like someone who was more comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt than someplace like this. Kenji liked that.
He was careful with his steps. He was pretty good in heels now, but that was out of a practiced caution, and the last thing he wanted to do was trip or fall just a few steps away from this man. What was his name? Dennis.
"Hi, I'm Kenji. You must be Dennis!"
"Yes, I am. Wow, you look great Kenji! Sit down, please!" Dennis said with a smile, a genuine one, Kenji noticed.
Kenji sat down and they started to talk, getting to know each other before the waitress came over for drinks. When she did, Kenji noticed the way he spoke. There was no rudeness, no arrogance. Kenji smiled at that, still smiling about it as he ordered his drink.
They talked and got to know each other and as they did, Kenji noticed something else as well. Dennis never asked about the surgery. It was obvious his head and his body didn't match, and Kenji had been clear on his dating profile about the head transplant. That didn't seem to matter one bit to Dennis. If anything, he seemed to like it, interested glances going both to Kenji's face and to Kenji's feminine body.
He started to relax, and as they ordered, talked, and soon ate, he realized he was having a wonderful time. As the night drew to a close and they both paid, Dennis asked him out on a second date, which Kenji, overjoyed, readily agreed to.
Who knew, he thought as he was walking to his car after, that his best date would happen after becoming a woman?
