A dark caption. The finale part of three.

Dr. Kramer realized his plan had failed. He had come to that conclusion with complete and utter clarity. He had badly miscalculated how the security guard would react, he knew that now, and he had badly miscalculated at how quickly and directly the hospital would handle all of this.

He had to laugh. He had gotten away with so much for so long he thought he could handle it, but he didn't actually plan for what would happen if things went wrong, and they had now gone very wrong for him. He had only himself to blame here. He could have anticipated that someone would slip. He could have planned for someone to talk or an error to be made, but he now realized that his focus had been too much on not being caught and not enough on what to do if he was caught.

Oh well, he thought to himself. He can't change his fate on this. Not now. He could, though, at least change how he faced it.

He got on his phone and called Nurse Landry. She came up, dressed in her normal scrubs, and he had his team assemble. She thought nothing of it until he took out a syringe he had prepared and sedated her, telling the staff that she had talked. That was what Dr. Vasquez had said. So, he told them, why don't we at least have a bit of defiance before this all ends? Enough of them agreed for it to work, he saw and they went to work.

When the security guard finally found Dr. Kramer, he was already awake and smiling, standing posed by the hospital bed. He had gotten a sexy nurse's outfit, a bit of theatrics. After all, he might as well just go all-out now. No point in being even the slightest bit subtle.

"I hope you don't mind, I did one last surgery. Nurse Landry won't be testifying, the traitor."

"Nurse Landry?" Another administrator asked, confused. "Traitor?"

The security guard stood there, smiled, and folded Dr. Vasquez's arms in an amused pose.

"He thinks she talked. That was just to get a reaction out of you, to see if you were using the your own staff for this. She never said a word to us."
"What?" Dr. Kramer said, his smile gone, his voice weak now. "No."

The security guard smiled darkly as two police officers came in and handcuffed him, then led him out of the room. As he did, he was stopped by the security guard.

"I hope you live a very, very long life in prison. Long, healthy, and clear-eyed so you can think about Nurse Landry, and Dr. Vasquez, and the rest of them. No rest, no comfort, no forgiveness, nothing, just misery until you close your eye many decades from now. Bye."
