Ruby was elated to be going on a date. He was her age, seemed to be a sweet guy, and had a similar set of interests to him. She thought he might make for a great time so she dressed well for the occasion. Before leaving, she checked herself in the mirror. Great, she thought, hoping he'd share her assessment, though not out of vanity. She wanted to make a good first impression.

The place he suggested wasn't very far away from her and she just opted to walk and while it would not be exactly fun in heels, she figured it would be okay. Plus, there was a small alley that she could cut through. It was small, but well-lit with small shops and businesses with entrances all along it and she had walked it hundreds of times. There should be no issue.

Her plans, though, met with a hiccup when she saw a truck blocking the entrance. As a business owner was yelling at the truck driver to move it, she sighed and looked to both sides. One of these shops, yes, this one, it had an entrance on the street.

Or, at least, the previous owners had an entrance to the street. She didn't know it had new owners or that those owners were not in the business of selling records anymore. They had a different profession and she had just wandered in right at a very inopportune time for her.

But not for him. He had her dealt with so she'd never speak about what she saw here to anyone. You do need lungs in order to speak and he now had hers, along with everything else below her neck. Her head, now suspended in a jar of liquid that was keeping her alive, was trying to scream, yell, speak, anything to get his attention as he walked out of the room, then to the fake front room and almost out the door.

He looked at her phone, seeing her date texting, asking where she was. Well, seems a shame, huh? He texted back that he'd be there in five, and smiled. Ninety percent of her is close enough to count, right?
