The Donaldson's property was always subject of speculation, gossip, and wild rumors. The house was plain enough to see, all dilapidated, the decay of it obvious from even the street, which was as far as anyone wanted to see that place. The thought that someone could actually live there was unbelievable.

Too unbelievable, in fact, for Destiny and her friend Angela. They were convinced that the place was abandoned, that no one actually lived in the place. In fact, they were so intent in proving this that they started to watch the place from the vantage point of a mutual friend's house who was close enough and had a good view of it.

They started this in mid-September and by the time that Halloween was rolling around they were convinced that no one was there. They had seen a small number of vehicles exit and leave, but they seemed to be bypassing the house. They assumed that the property had been either broken up or leased out, figuring that whoever was using whatever was behind there had no interest whatsoever in the old house.

Finally, right before they were to go to a Halloween party, they could take no more and decided to just see for themselves. They'd go up and knock a few times and take a quick look around the outside of the house. If there was no one there, then it was abandoned, they decided.

While they were dressed up, they did not think this would be more than a few minute detour. After all, they had seen no one coming or going from there for weeks now. This would prove it.

The walked up driveway, realizing now that it seemed odd how the house was laid out. It almost looked like the back of most houses rather than the front. They shrugged it off, realizing they just might be imagining things. It was pretty spooky up close.

They took a quick look, both careful in their heels as they walked, and soon they were at what they thought was the front door and knocked. Nothing. They waited a moment and knocked again. Nothing again.

They turned to leave, satisfied, when they heard a creak and turned to see the door open, and were pulled inside.

It was Halloween night, Albert Donaldson knew, and he thought it might be a good time to walk the neighborhood. It was a nice fall night, and tonight was a night he could do this without too much worry.

He kept his face as a scowl and moved it little, solidifying in people's mind that it was a mask, nothing more. Of course that was not true, as he knew very well. His head was now the only original part of him, the rest had been provided by that nosy woman, what was the name her friend screamed, Destiny, was it?

A sad fate, the both of them, now living heads in jars, but they literally walked into that situation. Had they kept away, this would have never had happened. They would have their bodies rather than Albert and Wallace having those pretty bodies below their elderly heads, but what is done is done.

Right now, though, he would put those thoughts aside. Why bother his own thoughts when he just wanted to have a nice stroll?
