A dark caption.
Alice had gone to the doctor right away after getting the call and now she sat in the waiting room, waiting to get in to see the doctor.
This had taken her by complete surprise. She had always been in very good health so something they wanted to see her in immediately had to be very important. Plus, it wasn't her doctor that called, but a specialist that was part of the same hospital group her primary care physician was part of.
Soon, she was called to an office, not even an examination room, led there by a cheerful, polite nurse who opened the door and closed it after Alice entered.
The doctor was an old man, bald white facial hair, tanned skin, and a somber look about him. It was that last look that worried her. He bid her to sit down and he opened her medical file sitting on his desk.
"Miss Dennings, thank you for coming on such short notice. I hope I didn't interrupt anything." He said. She had never heard someone speak like him, authoritative but somehow still soft.
"I was about to go with friends, but you caught me just prior."
"I'm sorry about that, but it is your bloodwork. Have you checked your text messages? We sent a link to our online portal."
"No, sorry, I figured if anything was important you would call. Which, you did, I guess." She said a bit sheepishly.
"Ah, I see. Uh, you, do you know much about what we test in bloodwork? Or what it all means? I only ask because people can differ wildly on their knowledge of the subject."
"Past glucose, uh, not really. What's wrong? What did you find?" She leaned forward, putting her hands together.
"That is fine that you don't know. I'll explain. See, your body produces an acid, called uric acid. Sometimes a body can produce too much and it can cause severe damage to the body. Luckily there is an solution for it, actually very quick, only actually outpatient surgery, but we need to be quick about it. You don't want this to get too far."
"When do you want it scheduled?"
"Well, we would like to do it today. Time is important here."
"It's that severe?" She asked.
He nodded. "Yes. We can get you in within the hour. Trust me, your body will be right as rain after all of this. You won't have to worry about a thing."
"Yes, let's do it." She said, her world swirling around her. Surgery so quick? Should she be scared? What if it didn't work? What then?
"Relax, my dear." He said, a small smile on his face. "Trust me, it will be quick and easy. By tomorrow, it'll be like you never had this. You have my word."
"Okay." She said. He handed her some paperwork and she sighed right away, and it wasn't too much longer before she was prepped and ready for surgery. As an IV was being put into her, she saw more doctors and nurses enter as well. By the time the drugs to sedate her were in her system, she turned and saw someone else being wheeled in too.
Her mouth opened in shock as it was the doctor she had talked to! By this point, she was very groggy and she tried to ask what was going on with him. The doctor answered her.
"A bit of a lie, my dear. Uric acid doesn't really work that way and yours isn't high anyway, but it did get you in here. I did say it would be like you never had a thing wrong with you, though. That was true."
That was the last thing she heard, and she was too far gone to even panic, much less anything else.
The next day, Dr. Holden sat in the chair in his recovery room waiting for the nurse to give the go-ahead for him to leave. As he waited, he could not help but feel at his body, especially his now ample cleavage and around his neck. No stitches, no scar, no staples, no bandages, nothing but smooth skin, and he was shocked at how seamless the surgery was. Despite the obvious with his head and her body, if one were to look all one would see was a dividing line between his tanner skin and her paler skin and that was it.
The nurse came in and he stood up, smoothing out his dress, taking an extra second to admire his long, pretty legs before following her. Down to a back stairwell and out an discreet exit to a waiting car. As he got into the car he smiled darkly. She had been perfect for the surgery and for his new body, and he knew if he hadn't made his move quickly the opportunity would be lost. If her doctor had called first, he'd have been out of luck, but she hadn't, and that delay now gave him this pretty, lovely body!
