The visiting nurse just shook her head, wondering exactly why she was here. He was standing there, an odd smile on his face, his phone nearby as he was almost in a pose next to his kitchen table.

"Hey, Suzie," he said.

"Hey. So, how are you doing, Nick?"

"I'm fine." He said softly. "Truthfully, this is the best I've felt in forty years. Sorry for you coming out here. This was not my idea."

"You want anything?" He asked, moving away from the table and walking to the fridge. "Something to drink?"

"No, I'm fine." She said. "They required a specific number of times, I'm guessing."

"That'd be my guess. They refused to even listen to me when I told them I was fine." He said, taking out a bottle of wine and pouring himself a glass. "I do feel bad for you on this."

"I get paid the same either way." She said with a laugh. "Well, it looks like you're doing great. No problems, no issues?"

"None. In fact, once we're done, I'm meeting some old friends. They haven't seen me like this yet, hence the wine."

"You're not driving..."

"Perish the thought." He said flatly. "No, they're picking me up. Anyway, if you want, you can stick around, but if you need to go, feel free. Your choice."

"I should probably get going, but good luck." She said, meaning it.

"Thanks."

As she left, he finished his glass, wondering how his friends would react. They knew about his new body, but knowing is one thing and seeing it is quite another. He just saw his phone vibrate. John was calling, meaning he was probably either here early or close by. Well, might as well answer. He was about to find out how they'd react sooner than he thought.
