"You're doing very well, Sidney." His mom said. "Especially your outfits."

"It still feels strange. The skirt isn't bad at all, but the heels and pantyhose, I don't know if I like them or not."

"Sidney, most women don't like them!" She said with a laugh. "But we wear them because they look good. No one ever wore them for comfort!"

"I know that, just you're used to them at least. This is still very new to me. I've only had this body for a few weeks now."

"And, like I said, you'd done very well! I was worried about you, you know. I thought you might retreat from the world after, well, all that happened, but you haven't. I'm proud of you. Come on, up on those heels. Our table should be ready now. I'm buying."

"You don't have to."

"I'm your mother, yes I do. Come on, up now." She said as both of them got to their feet. She smiled at Sidney. Her words didn't quite do it, she realized, it couldn't convey the depth of pride she felt at how Sidney had handled and overcome all of this. She wondered if it ever could, but maybe that thought was best left for another time.
