The nice thing about Halloween is that it can disguise things that otherwise would be instantly noticed. Take Melissa for example. She knew that ambulance was fake in front of that house. The two people nearby, she could tell they were not actual paramedics. However, it was a nice neighborhood and it was late October, so she just assumed they were part of some Halloween party. Nothing too weird about that. Around here, elaborate parties like that weren't uncommon, so she paid them little attention.
They weren't, it turned out, but by the time she realized that it was far too late. Now, Mortimer was walking through the same neighborhood, smiling as he walked. He felt the cool hair on his hairless, feminine, nylon-covered legs, the movement of his new breasts against his bra and hoodie, and the lack of something between those lovely legs. He didn't even bother to put his hood up to hide his obviously elderly male face. After all, he would explain, it was just a costume for Halloween!
