Her boyfriend took another pic of her as she walked in another part of the abandoned cabin. He did enjoy the pose, but that was all he was enjoying. This trip was a dud and he was hoping she'd lose interest very soon.
"Babe, you about ready to go?" He asked.
"Not yet. There is definitely something here. I keep hearing a mechanical noise. Something hidden."
"That's not mechanical, that's insects. We're just into fall, it's not like most of them are dead yet. Come on, let's go."
"Just a few more minutes." She said, examining a a window that seemed to be boarded up. They had checked the inside of that. Nothing they had seen. "Do you hear that?"
"Insects. Babe, there is nothin here. We were in there."
"Was there a window on this side?" She asked, ignoring him.
"There's one out here, so yes, there has to be one." He stated flatly.
"No, I think we didn't see one inside on this wall. I think this leads somewhere. I think there's a hidden room!"
"Come on..."
She somehow, surprising him, managed to get the window open. He expected it to be rusted shut or nailed shut but it came open quickly and easily. Too easily.
He saw a metallic arm grab her and force her up to her shoulders into the room. He tried to grab her and save her but once he saw what it was doing he was gone.
Several hours later, a man walked away from the cabin, heading right to a modern and functional cabin nearby. As he walked, feeling the cool air on what were now hairless, nylon-covered legs, he wondered if she had been hiking and came upon this place like him. He didn't see a car, so he guessed so, despite her impractical clothes for hiking. Given the temperature, he realized he had been in there for several months at least, just an unconscious head on a machine. He hoped her fate was a bit less long, but there was little he could do about it. He was just as much of a victim as he was. He just hoped that whoever was at the cabin wasn't too scared of him in this state. That was all he needed!
