Stan and George decided figured out a bit more information, just enough to lead them to a probably location of Brandi. They decided, despite it being a two hour drive, to just do it now and be done with it. Neither of them decided they wanted to wait any longer.
Stan drove while George sat in the passenger's seat and as they drove, both of them talked. It seemed like a decent way to pass the time.
George was still dressed in that dress, heels, and pantyhose, deciding that the impact of this might be something they could use. Stan also guessed that George didn't mind dressing like that.
"You really don't care about being dressed like that, do you?" Stan finally asked.
"No, I don't. While this wasn't my first choice, as I've repeatedly said, I don't mind having my head on her body. Why she wants her head on that man's body is a more interesting question."
"Why don't you mind?"
"I'm younger and healthier."
"George, I just slept with you. Just tell me."
"Cancer. Luckily a slow cancer that doesn't like to spread, but one that was going to kill me regardless. That's the main reason, in fact that's the only real reason. I didn't want to die yet and I had a chance not, and I did it while furthering a surgery that could save lives."
"You know, this is a long way from how you acted right at the start of all of this." Stan pointed out.
"When you study what I study, the research, the experiments, if you don't have a dark sense of humor you can't last. I'm so used to dealing with people who are in my little niche, largely because a lot of others don't really want to be around us when we discuss this subject, that I just didn't think. Also, I might have been a bit high from the pain meds and a little euphoric that I wasn't going to die."
"I didn't see you take any pain meds."
"Well, I haven't around you. It turns out I didn't need them, but we didn't know that initially. As for why I didn't say that, would you have believed me even three hours ago?"
"No, not really." Stan had to admit it.
"The meds weren't the main reason either, so I didn't mention them. But, we've been over this, why are you asking again?"
"Because each time I ask, I get more information." Stan pointed out.
"Okay, that is a fair point." George said. "So, how are we going to handle her?"
"I'm going to do most of the talking, but I know which of us is the calmer one. You may have to tap in if I'm about to lose it. If you think I was pissed at you, you have no idea how mad I am at her."
"I... see." George said.
"Yes?" Stan asked.
"Yes what?"
"You have more to say."
"We'll have to see when we get there. We've both said this doesn't add up. Remember that. There is something we're missing and it might not be what you think it is?"
"And what do I think it is, George?" Stand snapped.
"That it was to hurt your dad."
"She did hurt him."
"Yes, but just as my story had more than you thought..." George just let that trail off. He hoped Stan would pick it up.
"Shit." Stan did. "George, I will start, but I think you might have to take the lead here."
They agreed to that, and the rest of the time they made more small talk. Stan did want ask about George's wife, but he guessed there was a reason George didn't mention more of her. He guessed George was a widower, but he didn't know that. Just a feeling.
Soon they were there, and while he wasn't from a small place, this was a bit larger than what he was used to. They drove up to an apartment complex and parked nearby. George checked Bruhilda's social media account and saw she had just posted that she was waiting for someone to get back from a run. It was nearly evening and they could guess who it was.
They didn't have to wait very long. They hadn't even been parked for ten minutes before she showed her, her muscular, male body dressed in a track suit and sneakers, her hair now cut short and wearing a baseball cap, but that face was unmistakable.
Both got out right as she went to jog past them and she stopped dead in her tracks.
"George!" She said, shocked before she saw Stand get out of the car. "Oh shit, Stan. Stan, Stan."
"You have a lot of nerve." Stan started, getting right in front of her and pointing his finger in her face.
"Stan, now, please..." George started before Brandi reacted.
Stan was on the ground, his finger twisted by Brandi, just one hand being used to drop Stan to his knees.
"Do you know how much I've wanted to do that since we've met?"
"How much?" He snarled out.
"Not at all." She said, unhanding him. "I never, ever wished you harm or unhappiness."
"And what about my dad? He's harmed. He's going to be unhappy. Did you think for one second about him?"
"YES!" She said, getting in his face as he stood up. He nearly fell back. While he was in very good shape, she was bigger and stronger than he was and she had no qualms about using it. "Every second I considered it! If it was just about his happiness this would never have been a thing that happened."
"This is where," George calmly said. "You really should listen. You know about there being more to the story. This is the 'more' part of hers. I would listen well."
"Thank you, doctor." She said. "For everything. But, I don't know if I owe him an explanation. My husband, I think I do, but you're just looking for reason to be angry at me!"
"No!" He yelled.
"Yes!" She said before George stepped in again, quite literally, putting his much smaller body between them.
"Please, let her speak, and, Brandi, his concern really is about his father. I don't doubt you two aren't too fond of each other, but that has been where his mind has been."
"Okay, I'll explain myself."
"Also, let's get in the car before we have people staring at us."
"Yes, let's." She said, getting in the driver's seat. Stand got in the back, George in the passenger's seat.
"So, please." Stan said, doing his best to be calm. He wasn't, but he was trying to be.
"Stan, I love your father. I do. I tried to treat you well, but we are close in age and I knew that was likely never going to happen. This, Stan, the body I have now, this is more me than I've ever felt. I had a choice, and it was a bad one. I knew he wouldn't go along with this. I knew he'd get over me but I knew if I lived how I was I was going to be miserable for the rest of my life. Okay? That's the reason. I wanted to be with him. I couldn't have both!"
At this, she teared up a little.
"I couldn't have both, Stan! Not only that, what kind of wife would a miserable wife be? He was the best man I've ever known but he couldn't fill that. I knew that. I doubt you'd understand."
"No, I get it." Stan said softly.
"What?" Brandi and George both said at the same time. Neither could believe he said that.
"I've known some people. Okay, George, you were right, there was more, and this makes sense."
With that, Stan got out of the car and waited for Brandi to get out. She did, dwarfing him, and he managed to let out a small smile.
"Good luck." He said as he got in the driver's seat.
"Good luck to you both." She walked around as they drove off.
The drive home, for the first hour, was in silence. George then spoke.
"You surprise me, Stan."
"I've known people, George. I won't go into it, but I have at school. Doesn't help my dad much, but there's nothing that could have ever been done about that. She tried."
"Do you have experience with this?"
Stan looked at him as they hit a traffic light.
"Not me. A friend or two. But, since that's their story, I'm not going any further. So," Stan said as the light turned. "What now?"
"I guess go home for me. You, I don't know. Talk to your dad. You have a hell of a story to tell. Just, maybe leave out the part about us, at least for now?"
"Not a chance he's learning about that, George."
They talked lightly and when they got back to Stan's dad's house, Stan helped George load his clothes into the car and they drove to his place.
They got there and Stan and George loaded the clothes into the bedroom.
"Well, Stan, I'm glad to have met you. Now, I think we both need to take a moment to figure out our next steps."
"Agreed." Stan said. "Good luck, George."
"And, you as well. Also, you have my number. Feel free to call or meet up. I think since all this, maybe I need to spend a bit more time out of the lab."
"Sure." Stan said. "Bye."
Stan was soon home after buying a bottle of rum. He mixed about a fourth of it with some cola and drank while watching some television. He'd figure out tomorrow what he was going to tell his dad. The last two days had been eventful enough. Tomorrow could wait until tomorrow.
