Andrea got home for a weekend, excited to see her dad. She was a senior at college, just turned twenty-two, and her dad and her decided to split a bottle of good whiskey. Neither drank very often. While Andrea did party some, she rarely had more than one or two cocktails and her dad maybe went through a twenty-four pack of beer every two weeks rarely drank past that. Thing is, both had a reason to celebrate, her dad getting his first real white-collar job and her getting a job for when she graduated. Both were excited for their new jobs and the advantages these brought, but it was more than that. It was the chance both of them had been working toward their lives, her to finally work as an economist for a major company, and him to not have to do physical labor anymore. He was a fit forty-five, but he knew his body couldn't last too much longer.

She got home and walked into the ranch house she grew up in, into a small entryway that on one side was the kitchen, the other the living room. She smelled a familiar smell, that of bratwurst, her favorite.

"Hey!" Her dad called to her once he realized she was inside. "Come into the kitchen, get the cheesy potatoes out.

"Got it!" She said. She didn't even have a chance to take her knee-high boots off, but it didn't matter, it wasn't like they touched much but concrete and classroom floors. She sniffed as she walked in.

"You cooked it perfectly!" She said even before she got to the stove.

"It has been on warm for twenty minutes." He admitted with a laugh. "How is my girl?"

"I'm great, and I don't need to ask how you are!" She said with a smile.

She could see the smile on his face as he checked the brats, then she grabbed two pot holders and took out the pan.

None of this was exactly high brow cooking, but to both of them, it didn't matter. It was food they loved.

"Oh, the whiskey!" Her dad said as he grabbed the bottle, opened it up, and poured them both a decent measure in two tumbler glasses. He waited until she set down the pan before handing her the glass. He smiled and held hid up.

"To our futures, Andrea!" He said.

"To our futures!" She said and they both drained it. Both coughed a little, and then both of them laughed.

"You have my reaction to whiskey too!" He said with a laugh. "I'll get some cola for the next bit."

"That stuff is strong!" She said. "What proof is that?"

"I think a hundred. I got it from that higher-end place near downtown. You don't like beer, we both don't like wine, and a pina colada or whatever mixed drink I didn't think would have the same, what do you call it?"

"Impact?"

"I think, yes, impact, that's right!" He said with a laugh. "So, we can ditch it if you want."

"No, just I think I'll sip it, and maybe add some cola. Still buy that off-brand stuff?"

"It's just as good as regular!"

"You know it's not!" She laughed. "But it doesn't matter. Let's eat."

Two sausages apiece and half the pan gone, plus a couple of rolls each, both were quite full. They hadn't touched the whiskey again until after the meal, when both poured about a shot-and-a-half into each glass and added twice that of cola. Both then clinked their glasses and again drank about a half.

"Oh, Andrea, check this out! I know you've been waiting to see this!" He took out his phone and showed her a pic. It was of a horror film they had both wanted to see. Some people bond on comedies, some dramas, some tear-jerkers, some fantasy. For them, it was horror.

"Dad, yes! Also, I wanted to show you something!" She went back out to her car and grabbed her travel bag and her purse. She opened her purse and produced a DVD of his favorite horror film, sighed by the director.

"Andrea... oh wow!" His eyes were tearing up. "How did you do this?"

"He was at my university for a film festival. I'd love to say I waited for hours, make the story more dramatic and all that, but you've seen how I can move when I want to. Plus, it's the edition with the original and theatrical cut!"

"Well, I know what we're doing tonight!" He said. "Oh, and I got popcorn and movie-style butter. You want the recliner or the couch?"

"Couch!" She said.

She was loving tonight. She had her dad had always been close, and she was immensely glad for it. While they each had their own things, both had always had something that not all of her friends had. She loved being at college, but she also loved coming home as well.

As they watched the first movie, both heard a sound outside. Her dad was up first, looking outside.

"Get the fuck off the lawn!" He yelled as Andrea moved to see a figure run away.

"What was that? Who was on our lawn?"

"Don't worry, nothing bad. Just Ricky."

"Oh god." She laughed a little, relieved. "I thought it was something worse than that."

"No, just him smoking weed near our tree again. This is the third time this month I've caught him. I don't even know why he's fixated on doing it here."

"Worried about someone seeing him?"

"Hardly. If someone sees him, they can call the cops on him for trespassing. No, I'm worried about the moron leaving a lit joint around that tree and setting our lawn or house on fire."

"Maybe it is time for that fence." Andrea said.

"Maybe."

They settled back down, watching the movie, eating popcorn, and finishing up the whiskey and cola. Before they went to the next movie, both refilled their tumbler glasses, though neither put whiskey in. Both felt like they were good for the night on that.

Jus as they were about to turn on the next movie, Andrea looked out a window and saw a figure outside near the tree.

"Dad, Ricky's back." She said.

He went toward the window and then stopped. The figure moved a step toward their house.

"That's not Ricky."

What happened next still is a matter of debate for them. It all happened so fast. The door flew open, both agree, but her dad insisted he got a hit in on the person before being sedated. Andrea suggested he missed and was out after. From there, it was just Andrea, who tried to run, but was grabbed before she could make any distance. From there it was darkness for both of them.

Both of them woke up the next day. Andrea woke up in the recliner, the chair fully reclined back. She was confused by this, and then remembered the events of the previous night. The man entering the house. Her dad trying to hit the man...

Her dad. She got up, feeling weird, and then realized he was right there, on the couch, laying his back against the one armrest.

"Hold the fuck on..." She said softly, looking down at her dad. That was the same college sweater she had on last night, cut for a woman, leggings, and black crew socks on. She then looked down at herself, seeing she was taller, much broader, and her arms had thick hair on them! Plus, she was wearing the same t-shirt and jeans he had on. She then looked at his sweater, seeing, oh no, those were breasts, weren't they? And there was no way he could wear leggings!

"Oh shit!" Andrea said. "Oh shit, oh shit, dad, wake up, wake the fuck up!"

By this point she was beside him, shaking him awake. He stirred, then rapidly woke up, still thinking it was night for a moment there.

"Where is that fucking... it's morning, what happened?" He then saw her and put a feminine hand to his face.

"Oh no. Andrea."

Both were now hugging, Andrea crying and him trying to console her as he came to grips with his own new situation. What the actual hell happened last night? And why? Would he ever have any answers to this. What about Andrea? How was she going to handle this now? And, least importantly to him, what about him?
