Dr. Dryer smiled as he had his minion gather his subjects, a maniacal grin on his face.  This was his first time doing such a thing, and he wanted everything to be right.  He had done his proof-of-concept experiments prior to this.  Most of them were people at the margins of society, and he and his minions watched eagerly to see how they reacted and how they dealt with it.

Well, to their surprise, they did quite well.  Most were used to being on the edge of acceptable society anyway, and what he did to them, while it took adjustment for them, they could handle being used to life handing them a trial after trial.

It was at this point that he realized he would need a more "conventional" group if he was to see what his genius experiments really could do.  To that end, his minions had been busy the last two or three days, gathering up test subjects, though, he knew, less than willing ones.  Granted, he really didn't want willing ones, what was the fun of that?  He wanted the social chaos!  Of course, he knew that some would be accepting of it, but he hoped next set of experiments would really put him on the map. If he made national news, he'd be happy, but if he could make international with his exploits, he'd be over the moon!  After all, any publicity is good publicity, right?  And, if he was being shown all over the planet, wasn't that a huge amount of publicity on what he could do?  He could practically see it now!  People would not just be lining up to be near his genius, why, he could practically consider the next Nobel Prize in the bag!

Of course, after his experiments, beyond the very surprised publicity, none of the rest of this came to pass, and he was found and arrested.  That, however, was after he had already done his work, which the world saw in full detail.  The doctor, it was found, was transplanting the heads of people onto different bodies.  While all were successful, and a plea deal was reached so he could show this procedure for much more legitimate medical needs, that did not change the fate of the over a hundred people him and his minions transplanted just prior to Halloween.
