I have to say, the orb is functioning precisely as I figured.  It's transforming multiple targets and with no real resistance to what it is doing.  Oh, I could have given it all sorts of energy barriers, laser weapons and such but there's no need.  Sometimes, the best weapon is the one that doesn't look like a transformation weapon.  Shiny simplicity...
