Amber interrupted my story. "I'm having a bit of a tough time picturing that last one," she complained.

Jess put down her cup of coffee and grabbed the notepad and pencil Tom kept on the counter top for his grocery list. She began sketching. "Like this, Amb." The blonde looked over my wife's shoulder as she drew.

"Oh, now I see, I think..."

Jess kept going, adding the blades on her drawing in the order I described them going in. I watched from beside her. "No, that blade went in a bit lower," I offered.

"You're exaggerating, Rick. I was there, remember?" She rubbed her foot against my calf. I reached down and patted her ankle.

"Okay, I get it now," Amber smiled. "You're a good artist, Jessie."

"Thanks- Rick would have given you stick figures."

"Hey! Anyway, Amb, where were we?"

"The blue-haired girl- blue hair, really? Concerned about the assistant on the bottom of the pool."

"Really," said Jess. "Light blue- turquoise, even. And the tattoos and bathing suit... Rick was staring and drooling."

"I was not- well, not much, anyway, considering you were still on my lap. Less than everyone else was, at least."

"Oh, come on- I bet you can describe her perfectly."

"Say, Jess, you ever consider dying your hair blue?"

Tom interjected, "Guys, I'd kind of prefer we don't take all day to finish the story. There's still a ton of cleanup left."

I took a sip of coffee. "Fine, fine- Hitomi, chained and helpless in a sack at the bottom of the pool. But you know the Magician- he always takes things to the edge, then steps over it..."
