Robyn turned the wheels, and the box continued to get smaller, compressing its occupant even further. She heard a moan from within. "Mari?"
"Keep going." It sounded like Marisol was talking through clenched teeth. Robyn continued.
"Mmmmh!"
click-click-click-click went the wheel. Robyn looked at the box. She knew the femur was the longest bone in the body, and the box didn't look much higher than her thigh right now. Nevertheless, from inside- "Tighter!" Robyn complied.
click-click-click-"Unh!"-click-click"Mmmhm!"clickclick"Aaaah!"clikclikclik-"mmmmmmmmnnnnrk..."clikclikclik"..."
"Mari?... You all right?"
"mmmhmm..." She sounded muffled, quiet.
"Should I keep going?"
"mmhmm."
Robyn paused. "Was that a yes?"
"mmhmm."
"Um, once for no, twice for yes?"
"Mmm. Mmm!"
She shrugged and turned the wheels. It was a tougher- there seemed to be a lot of pressure on them. Suddenly, there was a crunching sound. Robyn stopped. "Mari?" No answer. She paused, then tried turning the wheels backwards. They rotated freely, but nothing else changed. She rotated them forwards again. One more click, and the box was even smaller. "Mari, I think something's broken! I can't undo it!" Her heart raced a bit faster. "Mari? Mari?!" Robyn reached down, and grabbed the box. She tried to open the lid. The whole box tilted, and she picked it up off the table. It was heavy, but not as heavy as she'd expect.
With more than a little trepidation, she tried to open the lid... (to be continued...?)
