Nick had always secretly dreamed of the stage, watching the gleam of spotlights from the dark backstage corridors as he swept the floors after performances. He even dreamed of catching the audience's admiring glances, standing in the glow of the floodlights and feeling like an important part of the show. And then, one day, his dream becomes a reality when the circus manager unexpectedly asks Nick to replace the assistant in the act of the great illusionist. But just as he begins to taste the sweetness of his dream, Nick realizes that things aren’t going at all the way he’d imagined.
