"Officer, please, you must believe me," Jeremy pleaded, his voice shaky with fear. "I am not... I am not... what he says. He... he tried to... he wanted..."
"Look, miss, I understand this is a confusing situation," the officer said in a calm but authoritative tone. "But we need to get to the bottom of what's happening here. Do you have any identification on you?"
Jeremy stared blankly at the officer, not comprehending the question. "What? I no understand... ¿Puedes repetir, por favor?" (You can repeat, please)
"Any ID, miss? A driver's license, passport, anything? And a name, please?"
"Oh! Sí, lo siento," (oh, yes, I am sorry) Jeremy quickly said. "Mi nombre es Jeremy. Jeremy Banes." he looked down at his breasts, realizing how silly he must sound right now.
The policeman almost choked on his own spit. "What did you just say, miss?"
"J-Jeremy. My name is Jeremy Banes" Jeremy repeated. The officer smiled widely and chuckled. "Jeremy Banes. Is that a joke? This is the best one I've heard all year, miss!"
"No miss, no señorita" Jeremy replied quickly. "I'm Jeremy, man!"
In this moment driver started to laugh simultaneously with the policeman's laughter "I told you! She is a crazy woman! A thief and a whore! She said she was a man! This is a joke, isn't it, miss?"
"Yes, yes, a joke!" The officer smiled widely, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "That's a good one, miss. A very funny joke. But seriously, now, show me some ID. You can't be serious."
"No, no, llame al laboratorio de Heverson & Associates al... maldita sea, no recuerdo esta dirección" (call the Heverson & Associates laboratory at... damn, I don't remember this address) Jeremy glared at the driver and added "¡¿De dónde me recogiste?!" (where did you pick me up from?!)
"Miss, miss, calm down, I can't understand a word!" the driver tried to speak in a calm tone. Officer also looked at Jeremy confused. "Are you Spanish, Miss? I'm sorry, but I don't speak Spanish. And looks like we'll have to go to the police station for further questioning"
"¿Qué? Police station? No! I need go work! Very big work!" Jeremy panicked, still not fully realizing all possible problems.
