My name is Alex, and I once believed I was wise beyond my years. I was in love with Emily from my childhood, and she was like my everything, so in 19 years of my life, she and I grew up, graduated, and decided to move together. We rented an apartment not far from the city after our wedding ceremony. Life was not easy but it was good and bright, and we really didn't want anything because we had each other. And on my 20th birthday I wished on a shooting star that I wouldn't get older.

I didn’t even attach any importance to it, soon forgetting it all. Life went on as usual: we studied, earned, earned, earned money, worked and made a baby girl named Lilianna. The first hint of the bizarre turn my life would take came on my 21st birthday. As I blew out the candles on my cake, I noticed the perplexed looks exchanged by my family. They seemed to believe I was still 20, brushing off any mention of me being a year older. I didn’t even think much of it, convincing myself they had simply had forgotten it was my 21st. But later when I checked, my passport read a date a year later.

The years passed and I noticed that each birthday, my wife's features aged more and more, while I stayed as I had been on my twenty year old. Emily gave birth to a beautiful son named John when I turned 26, although in my documents it was still recorded as 20. I talked to both Emily and my friends about something strange going on with my age on my passport, but was shocked that they saw things just as usual. They were sure that I married Emily when I was 17 and they gently remained silent when I asked a logical question: if I am 20 and my daughter is 5, then how come I got married at 17?

After several birthdays, I was no longer Emily's husband! Our marriage certificate showed the signature of her new husband - Adam, and both our daughters didn't call me dad but only Mr. Alex. Emily and I lived in separate rooms, and she had another family! And none of this was the strangest part! In the eyes of the people around me, all this was considered completely normal and obvious! I was not going to put up with reality and did not want to retreat, because I loved Emily and my children for all my soul.

I finally remembered about my wish that I had made when I was only 20, the only explanation for my mysterious non-aging. Although I didn't believe in magic or supernatural, I didn't know any other logical explanation about my abnormal situation, so I watched every evening for a meteor or shooting star. Several years passed and nothing changed in my life. When Liliana turned 9, John was 3, and my Emily was already 29, they moved together with this... stupid Adam to a new apartment. And I was left alone, eternal student on the 3rd year at university.

"Oh God, I just wish to be with the one I love, what's wrong with it," I repeated frustrated, looking at the ceiling. It was yet another birthday and I didn't even care to celebrate. I spent my day alone, drinking beer in front of the TV and playing some dumb video games. Sitting in silence, I got slowly drunk and began to drift into dreams. I realized it was late at night and with a heavy heart, decided to go to bed.

Suddenly a knock startled me. Frowning, I looked around: it wasn't my room and it definitely wasn't my bed. Baffled, I stared into the unfamiliar cream walls with girly decoration. Something strange tickled my shoulders while I turned my head in thought, only when I finally looked down I noticed long blonde hair draped over me. Frozen in the fear, I grabbed my hair and hissed, shaking my hands. It seemed impossible, yet at my fingertips rested feminine strands!

"Happy birthday my Angel," I turned to the sound and see Emily standing in the door, smiling softly and holding a small cake in her hands. "Princess, Mommy's got a surprise for you!" She said cheerfully, putting the cake on the table and sitting next to me on the bed. She wanted to embrace me for a hug, when the voice of Lilianna came from the other end of the room.

"Happy birthday, little sister." She snorted sarcastically. She was already a 17 years old girl and constantly annoyed the way her Mom paid much more attention to her younger sister. "Wake up, wake up," she added impatiently and putting it on my head a princess party-hat.

"Lily, please," said Emily in a stern tone, walking up to her. "You are at least 18 and you still bully Alexandra for mom's hugs?" she rubbed her cheek against mine and I felt like blushing.

"Yes," Lily smiled sweetly, turning her head to me. "You are so childish and it's gross, I don't want to act like this," she wrinkled her nose, sticking her tongue out. Before I could do anything, her brother, John, appeared in room and hugged me, jumping on the bed.

"Happy birthday my princess," John said, imitating mom's way of speaking. Lilly rolled her eyes, obviously thinking about how stupid her brother was, while Emily, my sweet wife, smiling adoringly at them both. Although of course it would be more correct to call it now a mother... No matter how strange it may sound.
