The day after that emotionally charged evening, Lilly woke up to the warmth of the morning sun, a rare brightness in her new life. The night spent with Cletus had been oddly comforting, and she felt a newfound energy coursing through her.

In a peculiar twist of her desires, Lilly found herself yearning to look a bit more refined. As she eyed the earrings that had witnessed her abrupt transformation from Malcolm to a waitress, she hesitated for a moment. Despite the strange incongruity of her surroundings, she decided to wear them, adorning herself with a touch of brightness, even applying makeup to add a splash of color.

Surprisingly, Lilly entered the cafe with a genuine smile, a stark contrast to her previous days of turmoil. She seemed to embrace the peculiar charm of her rustic appearance with a newfound confidence.

Stefania, however, remained unrelenting in her criticism.

Stefania: (scornfully) Well, look who's tryin' to put on airs today. You can't change who you are, Lilly. You'll always be a hillbilly.

Lilly, undeterred by Stefania's remarks, met her accusations with a smile that carried a subtle hint of sarcasm.

Lilly: (grinning) What's wrong with bein' a hillbilly, Stefania? Ain't no shame in it. We're all just folk tryin' to make a livin'.

She continued her work, the satisfaction of her newfound resilience evident in her demeanor. Lilly chose not to let Stefania's words tarnish the brightness she had embraced that day.
