“This rain just won’t stop, huh.”
A young man muttered as he looked out of the window, every raindrop smashing against the glass. It hadn’t been long since he moved out into the countryside, partly to get away from society thanks to how harsh it weighed him down during his time studying, and partly because he just liked the peace and quiet that the open fields brought. Sure, it meant that he didn’t have much company, but that gave him more than enough time to think.
Unfortunately, heavy rainstorms like these were common. It meant that he couldn’t leave the house until it stopped, leaving him stuck inside while he could do nothing more than listen to his thoughts.
Eventually, the rain would come to an end. Maybe he should try and count the amount of droplets that smashed against the window until the clouds started parting overhead…
Nah. His eyes weren’t that good. He’d miss five by the time he counted one. So instead, it’d be better if he put his time to good use… And made himself a good cup of tea-
*SPLASH*
The youth blinked as he looked against the windowsill. It sounded like something smashed into it harder than before, but all that he could see were small droplets that looked black compared to the rest of them.
“Guess something might’ve gotten blown all the way over here. Hopefully it didn’t break the window, I’d hate to sleep in the cold.” He muttered to himself, heading into his kitchen to slowly heat up a cup of tea. Something to keep him nice and warm before bed.
The young man, a blonde by birth, tapped his finger against his plain-sleeved elbow. The electricity out in this part of the world was sparse, but it was just good enough that he could naturally heat up the water in his kettle.
“...”
His eyes widened slightly as he swore he heard the faintest whisper. But that couldn’t be right, the only thing he heard was the whistle from the kettle. Surely he wasn’t going crazy just from a bit of-
“Closer…”
The voice was more audible this time, as a hand seemed to form from the steam rising from the kettle. A hand that was getting closer to his face-
He yanked the cord out of the wall socket, sweat running down his face. Whatever that was, he definitely wasn’t seeing things. He just had to deal with his tea being a little less warm than usual. He wasn’t about to find out just what the hell that was…
Little did he know, this would hardly be the last time that the hand would assault him…
---
The rain was still pouring down the day after. And he had little to do inside. All he could do was focus on his arts and crafts, grabbing his knife from his cupboard as he picked up one of the logs that he had brought in for just this occasion.
Cut after cut, until the bark was completely stripped from the sliced log. Then carefully carving away bits and pieces until it slowly formed a proper shape. Something that he could be proud of. Something only slightly human, but enough that he could use it as some sort of… Conversation partner, should he need it.
After all, even if he couldn’t go out and talk to regular people during this heavy storm, he still needed somebody to socialize with. Unless it started talking just like the steam did the night before…
No, that steam was just an illusion. It was nothing. He just imagined it thanks to the isolation. There wasn’t actually some sort of feminine hand that materialized from a small cloud of hot air. That had to be the answer.
With his little wooden friend looking as spiffy as one could ask for, he walked out into the kitchen and turned on the faucet, intending to wash away any imperfections that were left behind by the marks from his knife.
“So lonely…”
The voice spoke again. He dropped the wooden ‘doll’ and looked into the rushing water that flooded into the bottom of the sink, his heart beating hard against his chest.
It wasn’t just a hand this time. It was a pair. And this time, they managed to reach towards his face, letting those fingers sink their way onto his cheeks.
His breath grew warmer as his eyes slowly dimmed. Something about this ethereal touch was enough to make him feel safe. Like these hands belonged to somebody he had spent so much time with. Somebody that wanted nothing but his safety… Something that-
The young man broke away, snapping out of the trance as he shut off the running water. The sweat continued pouring down his face as he slowly walked out of the kitchen, hoping that the rain would come to an end sooner or later. Or he just might actually go crazy…
Especially if he kept lingering on the thought of that gentle touch…

Another day came and went. This time, thankfully, the rain seemed to have stopped. Which meant that he could go outside and make sure everything was properly watered. Even though the rain had been rushing down over the last few days, that didn’t mean the crops got the right amount of water.
The young man made a point to stop and check the spot right outside his living room window, seeing a single black puddle having formed underneath. It was suspicious, but it was probably the source of the splash from a couple of days ago. Even if he cleaned it, the rain would probably find a way to bring it back.
With that in mind, he grabbed a hose that he had set aside for just such an occasion. He needed to water the crops after all, heading straight out towards the patches of green outside his home.
He could feel the water pouring its way out of the hose, smiling as he pointed it straight ahead, waiting for it all to splash its way out.
“There you are…”
Only for a face to force its way out of the tip of the hose, together with the rushing water that poured onto the crops. A face, and the rest of the upper body, including those two enthralling hands that once again crept close to his head.
The young man looked into the feminine face’s eyes, hidden behind a veil of silky black hair that was so hard to look through. And yet, despite how slick it looked, despite the way it was blocked, he was still pulled in. Pulled closer, thanks to those endlessly helpful hands. He could just taste her scent, let her overwhelm him, let her take him where needed to g-
He dropped the hose, the woman looking up at him as she slowly crept out of the running water, with a seductive smile on her face. Even being dropped wouldn’t stop h-
In his sudden panic, he stepped on the hose, cutting the flow short and preventing the woman from materializing. Letting him quickly rush over and turn off the faucet completely, giving him the time to breathe.
He needed a hot bath. Something to keep his mind off this. Off that beautiful woman…
---
It had been a few hours, and the rain was pouring down outside once more. And instead of waiting for it to be over, he had made preparations this time.
The young man slowly slipped into the warm bath that he had prepared. All it took was letting the water run while he wasn’t in the room, and then turning the thing off quickly once he heard it get close to the edge. Sure, he spilled a bit and it wasn’t as warm as if he had kept an eye on it the entire time, but after what had happened the last three times… He wasn’t about to let himself get caught off guard again.
Slowly but surely, he sank all the way in. Letting the warmth wash over him. This time, he was safe. In the comfort of his own home. The water wasn’t rushing out, the water wasn’t making any steam. He was safe. There was no way for that strange woman to… to…
His eyes were open. And he saw exactly what he had been trying to avoid. And unlike the other times, he didn’t have a way to stop it.
Emerging from the surface of the warmth bath was a woman with pale blue skin and deep black hair. A woman that looked like a creature from the depths of the sea, with her eyes shining just like the sole lights in that deep and dank abyss.
Her eyes were luring him in, just like any other fish that had managed to fall into the abyss. And this time, as her hands found their way onto his face, he couldn’t stop her. He could only stare straight ahead, his warm breath brushing against her face…
“My sweet one. My one and only…” The warm and silky smooth voice echoed through his head, leading his resistance to melt away. The rest of his body felt the same way, all specks of resistance fading away completely. He could do nothing but listen to her…
A smile crept across her face, as she came closer, kissing him on the lips. A mark slowly spreading across his cheeks, to show that he had fallen under her spell completely. Nothing but utter obedience remained inside him.
“You know what to do…” She muttered, slowly sinking into the water once more.
This was the last bath he enjoyed as a human, the warmth from her kiss filling him completely…
---
The rain continued pouring down. Smashing against his house. Rushing down into puddles that formed around his feet.
He didn’t care. Not as it rubbed up against him, every droplet feeling like those wonderful hands caressing his face. He knew what he had to do. The only thing that he could do.
The puddle. The black puddle. Her home. All that it would take for him to come to her, was to step inside…
He did it without hesitating. Letting his body sink inside, not worrying about what it might do to him. It was nothing compared to the comfort that she would bring him. Nothing compared to her.
As soon as the world around him went dark from his body sinking into the puddle, he saw her once more. That beautiful face, waiting for him to join her. Waiting for the time when he’d fall under her power. And here he was. Nothing but a thrall to the one that he had fallen for.
“Finally…” The silky smooth siren whispered as she came close to him, putting her hands on his face once more. It felt wonderful. His body trembled as she touched him, as if he was melting right then and there…
He didn’t get to savour that feeling for long, as her gentle smile curved into a malicious grin. And almost as soon as she had put her hands on his face, she yanked him close. Yanking him straight into her.
She was like another part of the puddle, allowing him to sink in with ease. All while she continued to grin down at him. Like he was nothing more than her prey. Like she never cared about him, just leading him on with her touch and her voice.
He didn’t care. Not any longer. His body was becoming one with the siren, sinking into her ‘puddle’ until there was nothing left. Not a single speck of the man that had lived all on his own…
Moments after letting him sink entirely into her, the siren released him. But there was no sign of him. Just another one of her. Just another siren belonging to this deep abyssal puddle…
And then there were two. Once they found their new prey, there’d be three… and so on, until they were satisfied.
The two identical sirens grinned, as the rain outside drowned out their schemes...
