The Curse of the Emperor’s Clothes.
It had sounded so ridiculous when Veruca Balfoy had first read it in the Tome of Mischief that she just had to try it. According to the Tome, it made the accursed’s clothing invisible to everyone BUT them.
Since it was just a trial run, Veruca had picked an easy mark, Trini West, for her experiment. While the basic spellwork for the curse was simple, it was still a curse, which meant needing a sympathetic link. Some object with a personal connection to the target. Fortunately, Trini was just the right level of vain that she carried a hairbrush with her everywhere she went.
A few strands of hair were an ideal link, and it had been easy enough to find a moment when Trini was distracted to swipe a few from the ditzy brunette’s purse.
Trini was having an odd day. People had been staring at her literally since she had left her dorm room, some with even their jaws dropped and drooling. She had checked her outfit a half dozen times already to make sure her bra strap wasn’t showing, or that her jeans weren’t riding too low in the back. Nadda. She couldn’t find a single issue with her clothes, so she just chalked it up to the boys being extra horny this time of year.
Of course, that didn’t explain why girls were staring, too. Well, at least the straight ones. But although they were staring, no one was saying anything, so Trini just did her best to keep her chin up and walk confidently.
The next day, when Trini saw the pictures of herself strutting around campus fully nude, it was her turn for a jaw drop.
