The elf? She claimed to be nobility--said her family would come for her, seeking revenge. They never have--more likely she's the black sheep, fourth daughter of some "noble" house that was last relevant a thousand years ago. I still had her wear her jewelry and even that crown, though. Petrified beautiful elven princesses are a trope, after all. Elves have that tedious resistance to charm magic, but with perseverance and luck, I eventually suggested that her fate was sealed and she might as well submit and look pretty for eternity.
The dwarf is a different story. A volunteer, if you can believe it! Said she was tired of 'all flouncy willowy elves' in galleries like mine, and wanted people to see the 'oak and iron of the dwarves'. She stripped her clothes right off and gave that great fierce grin as she stared into my pet basilisk's eyes--no need for any kind of tricky magic to get her nicely posed. Really, I think she was completely right! I just don't know when I'll be able to find anyone else like her...
